Worked in grocery for 33 years so I notice the small things in many stores. So first it's clean and well stocked, we were greeted politely...always nice. At the deli counter we were promptly asked if we needed some help with a smile, order given and made my to the restrooms which were clean. Picked up our food and waited a short time in the line and quickly got checked out with a smile. We ate outside at one of the two tables provided. Oh yeah, the tri-tip sandwiches are really good. With the good quality and sale prices I shop here at least once a week. Their inventory online could use some updating but the customer service that fixes issues does help. Their produce is a bit pricey, but there are many other items I stock up on and it's more peaceful then battling the crowds at the bigger stores.

We paid for our items, but looked back and an older non brown lady walked up and she was greeted and treated with decency. I feel this store is sometimes held to unrealistic expectations for what it is. This isn't a Whole Foods or a Vons -- it's an independent neighborhood grocery store serving the local community. For the services they provide, I think they do a great job. The staff has always been helpful, friendly, and willing to assist whenever I've needed something. I haven't tried the deli yet, so I can't speak to that, but overall this store does a great job filling an important need for the neighborhood.

VON's Grocery Store, Oakhurst: 2026 Jul 24 (1 of 5)…read more THE REMODEL! It's taken months and we still have trouble navigating the store. Several of the aisles were bare and we noticed that they raised the price of some of their goods. The new pricing may be to help them pay for the cost of the remodel - but, why remodel only to raise the prices and make it difficult for customers to navigate the aisles? Even the staff have trouble pointing out where the things are when asked. This is especially hard to grasp when our economy is at its worse times for the past several years. We're going to have to tighten our belts even more... and find a new grocery store to shop at. Sad!
