FoodMaxx is super nostalgic for me because I grew up in Sacramento, California, and it was a staple when I was younger. It was one of those places where you could find affordable food and sometimes discover things you couldn't easily find anywhere else, so walking into FoodMaxx brought back a lot of memories. I originally came in specifically to pick up some popcorn, but of course I left with several things I didn't actually need! One of the highlights was finding an ice cream I used to eat as a kid. That was such a fun little throwback. I also loved seeing the full section dedicated to Hot Wheels! And the nectarines were AMAZING. Some of the most delicious nectarines I've had in a long time! The only downside was that they could have had more registers open, but honestly, the cashiers moved so quickly that you barely noticed. Overall, it was a nostalgic and successful grocery run, and I left with more than I came for, but I definitely didn't regret it. read more

The dude and I come to this Foodmaxx periodically On Shaw in Clovis. Most recently we came on 01/29/22 as the dude wanted to BBQ and make pulled pork for us and my family. Compared to other supermarkets Foodmaxx is expensive. Back in the 1990s to 2000s this chain RULED. I remember days where it would be pack cart to cart inside but presently it's empty as more affordable markets are coming up. I feel like they do offer more alcoholic beverages and at one point this was the only location the dude and I could find White Claws or Trulys but now that has changed of course! The store is always clean and organized and mostly come in for select items. We only got a handful of items and it come to $147 which if we went to a different store it probably would have been about $80 or less. Staff is always friendly and it's never busy in here like the old days. Good for a quick drop in for a few items. I know with COVID a lot of prices are rising and California in general so I'll take that into consideration. I will continue to come here periodically as needed but for some items the prices are ridiculous like for chips (like individual sizes in the bulk bags) we are that couple that does the calculations to see if it is worth it and it wasn't here. Overall, there are better options but no complaints it did put food on our table. Will be back for sales or every few months. read more

The food has a great selection, the service is very quick, friendly and attentive to detail. The ambiance is warehouse style without the membership fees. 6-12-25 Uncanny how Visalia FoodMAXX on Ben Maddox consistently has thee RUDEST employees. It makes sense because twice I made complaint to manager he did absolutely NOTHING. He simply does not care how rude his employees are. Yesterday I was at the self-checkout and the female employee there outright refused to help me and walked away. The checkout was making it difficult to process my transaction so I had to call for a Manager to help instead. He listened while his employee was yelling and deflecting within earshot. He totally ignored how horribly she handled my needs making it a complete WASTE of my time and effort. I ended up having to figure out the checkout myself. Perhaps if the store Manager cared more about customer service and store (ambiance) atmosphere the store wouldn't have such a DEPRESSED-unkempt look over the last several years! When a large grocery chain is suffering they don't really care anymore about customer expectations or simple courtesy. I only shop there for ONE bakery product and as of yesterday, judging from the staleness of that, it's also something they no longer CARE ABOUT! So SAD! read more

I stopped at FoodMax in Clovis CA Shaw and Sunnyside to get a few groceries. This was the 1st time in years. I was shocked the store has been remolded. The produce section was absolutely stunning. So fresh and arranged so beautifully with so much to choose from. The Store was so clean inviting. The employees were so pleasant. Who ever the manager is of this Food Max can really be proud of this store. I will be shopping here. Very nice store highly recommend everyone try it out. Prices are great as well. read more

There's always something different when I come to this Food Maxx. Today, I noticed an assortment of Mexican sweet bread and bakery items for sale and the bakery is now able to print your photo on your cake. We came in today looking for last minute dinner ideas for a party that was being hosted at our house impromptu. God bless these guys for being open 24/7 on Turkey Day. We were able to find 2 rotisserie chickens, gravy, mashed potatoes, and Texas Toast. The total was about $20 and we had enough food to feed the entire family plus seconds. Since this is a mass discount grocery store, you don't get the luxury of having your groceries bagged for you so you end up bagging them yourself but it's a small price to pay for awesome deals. read more

Why does it always take forever to check out at this place? It's not like there's 90 customers in the store! I used to go to the foodmaxx on Blackstone and barstow, which sports such luxuries as self check out and cashiers! At more than 1 register, but we moved to Clovis. This is an exceptionally well thought out location for a grocery store with a decent size parking lot. When you walk in it feels very relaxed and easygoing with that same layout that we Americans are used to. Food and products are spread out, grouped together and displayed to make shopping convenience easy for the consumers and can resemble an experience in a candy store. As far as selection it's by far very inclusive but can miss organic/vegan products which is to fine. I used to be taken to Foodmaxx as a kid and never found an issue, I've been to several locations and they all have been adequate. Foodmaxx doesn't have the freshest fruit or best bread or the finest cheese, but what it does have is good prices. Save Mart and Foodmaxx are the same company, but they literally have the exact same items for at least a dollar more, so I end up always going here even though the other one is closer to me. This location is safer than the one on Blackstone and more appealing, but it has less items, especially fruits and vegetables. Like other grocery stores, there is much more than just food, but the lack of a full service deli and basically three day old looking meat and fish, it feels a lot more like a giant convenient store. I am in college and live with roommates, so a one stop shop like this with all the essentials is really useful especially if you don't have a car. It is open 24/7 which I cannot stress enough how much I appreciate that in Fresno where everything seems like it closes at 10. It isn't very organized and I really would not recommend going at night, but it's reassuring that it's there if you need it. This place is really my last resort in the day if I have a choice, but the very fact that it has pretty good prices and always open makes it a lifesaver sometimes , so I cannot over look that. read more

I don't normally write reviews but after what I witnessed today I feel I should. I've been shopping at this location for 10 years now and have found the employees to be really kind and professional. I was in today around 8pm and witnessed an extremely rude customer screaming at a manager named Jose. From what I could tell the manager did everything in his power to please the customer but she couldn't be reasoned with and continued yelling at him. I have no idea what they're paying this man but it isn't enough. For a second there I thought the lady was going to start hitting him but the manager remained calm and polite. Seriously hard to knock this place, we have done the research and they seem to have the lowest overall prices. The clientele can be a little...eerr, how do I put this, interesting, and sometimes the lines are long if you go at peak times, but if your choose your shopping times right you can be in and out quickly. I've been shopping here for groceries lately. Their prices are very reasonable and they have almost everything I need week to week. Occasionally I have to make a Target run to get things they don't have, but that's ok with me. The store is always clean. Came here on Tuesday evening to pick up some groceries. Today at work I noticed the bottle of juice I just purchased and opened tasted funny. Looking at the date: use by April 5, 2015. Nice... Expired. Tonight I had just finished one gallon of milk we had purchased on Tuesday... It tasted fine to me. Later this evening I hear my husband yelling and gagging... I run into the kitchen to see him wrenching over the sink. He pointed to the milk. I looked at the container checking for an expiration date and the date was set for June 27th, 2015, two days away. I was thinking perhaps it was because it was a different brand, but looking at the glass he had poured it in, it looked thick. I smelled it and it smelled like curdled milk. The other gallon purchased at same visit was fine and of the same brand (bay view). This one was sour. As we poured the remainder down the sink you could see the curdled chunks going down the drain. I ONLY come in here for the baby formula that is $10 less compared to other stores. Every time i come in here, whether it's in the afternoon or evening, there's only 2 registers open and lines full of people with carts full when i only have 2 things! While I was there, another shopper saw a rat run out from the back room to under one of their freestanding freezers. When a bunch of customers told an employee, he acted nonchalant like it was a loose tomato! Produce quality was awful, dug through all the bell peppers before I found 2 worth buying. DO NOT order a birthday cake!! I put in a cake and cupcake order for my daughter's 4th Birthday party about 2 weeks before the date of pick up. We also called the day before and were assured the order was there and would be ready the next day. When I got there, 15 min before our party was supposed to start, they said it wasn't done! Both the bakery person and the manager just kept saying "it's not our fault, just no one did it". When I asked how long it would take to make the order, neither would answer the question. The manager just told me he would give me 50% (which is only $6) off one of their generic cakes already made!! I used to live really close to here and came here all the time. I actually miss being so close because I loved shopping here. I never really bought meat here except for a few times because they do have a very small selection of organic chicken. I like their produce and they have a little organic and gluten free section. Employees have always been very helpful anytime I had a question. Loved the produce guys they would always help me find what I need and pick out the best watermelon lol. Only complaint is that sometimes they only had one or two registers open and the line was super long. read more

If you know what's good for you, you should know that food maxx marks their prices up fairly high. While they do carry things most groceries stores don't, you could always find a can of parm cheese about a buck or two cheaper at winco or foodsco.
