They sell Fake gyros for a gyro place. No authentic gyros, overall not bad, lacation right on the center of the town, hard to find a paring spot read more

A Greek gem! The gyros are delicious! The Greek salad is filled with all sorts of Greek goodies and they are enormous! Even the small ones. They have lots of parties and a great menu. I highly recommend. read more

This place is totally awesome, I knew it existed in Hamden for a while and I finally took the dive and stopped by today. My goodness my food was so fresh and divine. I got the classic gyro, the meat was well seasoned, the onions, tomatoes and dill were fresh and the pita was so fluffy and delicious. I also got the Greek style fries and they were so good! The lemon seasoning and feta made it so hard to not eat them all on the car ride home. The inside is super cute, nice and clean, and their staff is extremely friendly and helpful. I'm already trying to figure out what I want to get next time I'm there! read more

The staff was very accommodating. The salad was excellent and was so fresh and crispy! All the food was delicious!

We order from here frequently, and always the same two things. They have the best beef and lamb gyro in the New Haven area (particularly if you get extra tzatsiki) with a generous amount of good meat and a good pita at a reasonable price. They also have a very creative and delicious Greek salad. It's not cheap, but it's also the best we've had in this area. I would suspect that the other offerings are of similar high-quality. Very friendly service. If you're a gyro fan, you should definitely give them a try. read more

It's a little small in there while walking by, but it truly is nice. I went for my birthday a while ago & the worker was so nice & helpful. I had a chicken gyro, I have to admit the chicken was a little chewy, but I did go near a closing shift (sorry!). I was surprised on how fairly cheap it was for the price but honestly, no complaints! read more

Second time here. First time was awesome, which brought me back. Second time was just as good, which shows consistency. My daughter attends a local university, so I leave 20 minutes early whenever I come to town so that I can get a gyro. And now, I've got to get two -- one for me and one for her. I only wish we had this in MY hometown. read more

Very friendly service, clean facility, and the food was excellent. I had the classic gyro and it was by far one of the best I've ever had. I would definitely recommend checking this place out! read more

Amazing, fresh, healthy Greek food! Peter was so wonderful and helpful accomodating 2 meals for a film crew of 15 people. He packaged and labeled everything, which made my job easy. Everyone loved the food, the chicken souvlaki was a crowd-pleaser. If you're in the area you must stop by for affordable and delicious food! Thank you so much, Peter! read more

Amazing Greek food! Everything from the tomatoes and tzatziki to the gyro was of extremely high quality. Great pit stop on the way to Boston! read more

I'm not very familiar with Greek food so I didn't know what to expect but this was quite good. I got the shrimp souvlaki. I'm not a huge tzatziki fan but the pita was great and overall I was pretty happy with it. The service was fast and the owner(?) was friendly. I'll definitely keep this on the list to return to, I'm thinking I'll try some of the sides next time. edit: the sauce is tzatziki, you learn something new every day read more

Just okay, very skimpy on toppings for the classic gyro. It's a shame because the meat is good quality. No lettuce tomato or cucumber just a few pieces of onion some cheese and the sauce. I personally won't be back as it wasn't worth 10 dollars. Sandwich itself wasn't very big either. Had better gyros at mall. read more

If you are in the mood to eat something low-carb and healthy but don't want to sacrifice taste, their Greek salad with gyro meat is absolutely delicious. The veggies are fresh, and their kalamata olives taste authentic, and their gyro meat is very tasty. read more

Love this spot!! Friendly staff, clean facility and always a great fresh salad. Would definitely recommend.

This place is extremely good! I had the Beef Gyro and it was delicious. The fries were very tasty and everything was prepared quickly. Will go here again when in town read more

Excellent food here very clean staff is very friendly love this place .... decorated very beautiful

Delicious Greek food. Will return again to try more items in the future! Freshly made to order and very friendly staff

My friend and I used a Groupon there and we would gladly go back. The owner was super nice, but since there was no one there, we did take out. We got gyros and loved them. My friend said the stuffed grape leaves were good as well. I got the avgolemono soup, was my first time trying it and it was fantastic. This is GREEK and NOT Middle Eastern so there is no falafel or baba ganoush but still well worth it! read more

We just left this exceptionally delightful restaurant! Authentic Greek food, clean, bright surroundings and friendly, knowledgeable staff- perfect! For those traveling on CT 15 north.... (Hamden) Skip the 'fast food' places! Freskos is just off the highway, very easy parking and they make GREAT food...fast! Oh, and the music is wonderful too! read more

Excellent authentic, delicious greek food! Try and treated myself 2 t I.es or more a month. Definitely recommend!!

So this is the place that changed my mind about gyros. For the longest time my wife and I have not been able to find a place that makes a authentic gyros. She read reviews and we remember seeing the sign one day while driving down Whitney Ave and thought OK...there it is. It is a small space but its a gem. Long story short is that this is not the gyro that you get at the Greek festivals in the area. This gyro was amazing. Full of flavor and the pita was toasted on the grill to perfection. My wife had one as well (loved it) and we took an order of chicken souvlaki to go. I cant say everything was great though. The only issue was that the spicy feta that we took home was watery. I will be back in spite of that. To sum it up, great Greek food with a fair price and very friendly service. Bravo! PS: Greek churches in the area should hire this place to make gyros for the festivals. read more

My favorite restaurant in Hamden, hands down. Try the chicken souvlaki and the pita pizza...but truly, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Their salads are also incredible, and come packed with delicious ingredients like stuffed grape leaves, warm pita, and imported feta that leave you feeling full and satisfied. Everything is fresh, made to order, and comes out tasting perfect each time. Freskos stands out as a clear winner in the Greek restaurant game. You can taste the love in everything they make!! read more

I tried Freskos' Shrimp Souvlaki and my friend tried their Gyro Sandwich. They were both OKAY. Nothing special. They can do better. :)

We've ordered carry out a couple of times from here, the gyro (I like extra tzat) and the Greek salad (with shrimp). We love it, and will definitely be going back. We order through ChowNow which we also like. read more

This is a very small place. You walk up and order. One guy taking the orders and serving. The food comes out really quick. The chicken gyro is really good. I would skip the desserts though. Not a huge fan. I would go back again. read more

Great gyro. GREAT gyro. Tzadziki is fantastic. Fresh and delicious and affordable. Be warned that getting a few sides adds up $$$ but all in all delicious and worth a trip! read more

I've never in my life had a better gyro than here at Freskos. They actually make it, with beef and lamb, and oh my gosh, the spices! Unbelievably tasty. To top it all off, they crisp the edges of the meat so there's a little crunch before you bite down into that soft, tender meat. The tzatziki is phenomenal as well; it complements the spices perfectly. I'm a big gyro person too, having eaten some of the best gyros the Northeast has to offer. Freskos blows them all out of the water. I know they offer Greek salads and yogurt as well, both of which I'd be very interested in trying... but I simply cannot go to Freskos and not get a gyro! Someday. PS - If you're as much of a meat fan as I am, make sure to ask to make your gyro a Cyclops! Extra meat, yum! read more

I really enjoy this place, I work close by and I've been here regularly for lunch. The menu is small, but I like that. It's reasonably priced with generous portions (lots of meat in sandwiches) Gyro sandwich - delicious Chicken souvlaki - good, chicken a little dry but still enjoyable and well seasoned Orzo salad - good, not great Avogolemono soup - good, not great Greek Yogurt - great authentic Greek yogurt (thick!) plus a variety of toppings to choose from Seating inside and a few spots outside. Friendly staff and nice, casual atmosphere. Will continue to come back! read more

I can't say enough amazing things about Fresko's. It's the go to place for my wife and I when we are in the mood for greek food. They have a great variety of choices to switch it up and it is so authentic! my wife is a vegetarian and was so excited to try the tofu souvlaki and now she gets it's everytime. the service is outstanding every time I go, friendly/helpful staff and a dedicated owner. can't recommend it enough! read more

Best gyro I've ever had! Grape leaves, and imported feta were very tasty as well. Owner is very welcoming and appreciative of his customers. Restaurants is also spotless and inviting. Went there the first time with a Groupon. Have gladly gone back without it as prices are very reasonable. Can't wait to go back! read more

We went to Freskos on a whim and loved it. Authentic and fresh! Clean and friendly staff. Definitely worth a try!

Great surprise right off thr highway. Delicious gyros and suflakies!! Price for 4 adults 32$. Would definitely recommend!!! read more

Oh, Freskos! Bright, fresh flavors and quick, friendly service in a delightfully simple atmosphere. Given how many office buildings are within walking distance, this place must be CRAZY at lunchtime! As they should be. My husband and I stopped in about half an hour before closing time prior to heading to New Haven for an event. He ordered a shrimp souvlaki (YUM) and I went with a dinner combo - a freakin fantastic lamb gyro paired with a crisp Greek salad. Perfection. The lamb was succulent and beautifully charred, served on warm pita with tonsssss of tzatziki (just the way I like it), fresh dill, tomatoes and onion. Heaven in a wrap. Let's not forget about the salad - it definitely wasn't just a combo add on afterthought. Brimming with fresh veggies, stuffed grape leaves and a generous block of feta, it totally hit the spot. Oh, Hamden - who knew you had such excellent Greek food? Next time, I'm adding on dessert and going for the Greek yogurt bar! read more

I've been craving Greek food for awhile and I can tell you that I had the gyros here and it was just the perfect consistency of meat and so tender! Oh delicious! Opa!! My husband had the chicken souvlaki and we both had at the end a sample of the chocolate baklava so so so good! We will definitely be back here and soon. They are in a very good area in Hamden, CT, great parking and free lol. Very clean and gorgeous wooden tables, great Greek music! Love it love it! read more

My go to spot when I am in a hurry. Unfortunately, they close pretty early (7pm), but I never had an issues with ordering at 6:50pm. I usually get the gyro and it's always soooo good! read more

Came in for a quick lunch with a friend since we love trying new places and this one seemed to suit our mood. I ended up getting their shrimp souvlaki and mmMm was it tasty. It was light, lemony, and filled with just the right flavorings (I love their tzaziki). I think it's a great addition to the area and a quick and accessible lunch spot for us QU kids who just want to try something different. The staff are very personable and friendly as well making the experience that much more welcoming. I definitely recommend and will be back! read more

Today was my second time into Fresko's. The first time, I got the horiatiki salad, which was really good. The feta is super fresh and amazing. Today I ordered a shrimp souvlaki to go. The girl taking my order was super nice. I got my food and went back to the office, opened my sandwich, anddddd crap. It was chicken instead of shrimp. I'm a pescatarian, so I couldn't eat the chicken, but I still briefly debated on whether I should just throw it out and stop somewhere else or if I should bring it back. I ended up bringing it back because it smelled so freaking delicious that I needed a shrimp version. I felt SO BAD about bringing it back because it was really just a miscommunication, and I'm not the type to send anything back ever. One of the guys saw me back in line and came to ask if everything was okay. I told him the issue, he went back and spoke with another guy (I'm assuming they must both be owners, or one is a manager). They were both really sincerely apologetic, and took my chicken souvlaki back and made sure that the correct one made its way to me really quickly. I was happy with how nice they were about it and how quick they were to remedy the issue. I still feel really bad that I couldn't just eat the wrong one, but I'm SO happy that I decided to go back because that shrimp souvlaki was ah-ma-zing! The tatziki was really, really good. I want to eat it with everything. I will absolutely be back in the near future and will make this one of my regular lunch spots! read more

Small joint, huge flavor. We had chicken gyros to go and we absolutely loved them. Their sauce is incredibly flavorful! I highly recommend this place! read more

Excellent chicken souvlaki sandwich. Substantive in quantity and excellent flavor. Nice Tzatziki sauce. Authentic and flavorful. Really cool Greek immersion too. Great for lunch, and the Morning yogurt bar is serious. Reasonably priced, Fresko is the perfect quality and value alternative to a fast-food chain. read more

I've eaten here probably 20 times and it has been delicious every single time. Peter the owner is a genuinely friendly person. Recommended!!
