Menu has good variety for meat and non meat eaters alike. They make their sandwiches and salads so that they are able to stand on their own, which is a very impressive feat. This is my favorite casual restaurant in Tallahassee. It's a welcoming place, thanks to its wonderful manager Christina Rosado, and the food is fresh and delicious. My favorite salad there is the Asian Cabbage Peanut Crunch with avocado and chicken. It is chock-full of healthy, crunchy ingredients and has an Asian dressing that is wonderful. My new favorite restaurant in Tallahassee! My boyfriend and I were looking for a good breakfast place close by and Freshroots popped up as an ad. It looked pretty good so we decided to give it a try. We walked in and looked at the menu on the wall. There were so many choices that sounded delicious. I took so long to decide what to get but thankfully the wonderful cashier was patient and understanding of my indecisiveness. I finally chose the newton melt on rye since I was in the mood for something sweeter and Christian got the Italian melt with sourdough. Our food came out after a couple of minutes and oh my goodness I'll never forget this sandwich. The combination of figs, melted cheese, pecans, and honey complimented each other so well. I savored every bite! The bread was nicely toasted and the flavors were incredible. Christian enjoyed his sandwich which had pesto, chicken, tomatoes, and cheese. Everything tasted great and we couldn't have been happier with our food. The price is well worth the food as well. Our sandwiches were around $7 each and they offer a 10% off check-in discount which we forgot to use:( We went around 10 am on a Tuesday and were the only ones there. The restaurant felt very comfortable and inviting. The interior decor is simple and cute. The service was friendly and welcoming. I honestly have nothing negative to say about my experience here. Visited today because we went to Tallahassee to do some shopping. Cute place. Ordered the club sandwich, sides are extra and I ordered the street corn. What I received was a good club and 1/2 to a 1/3 ear of over done corn wrapped in tin foil. It literally reminded me of corn from a buffet - yuk! The Freshroots Kitchen was kind of hidden in a plaza and is part of a building that offers some medical services. But I was glad I found it and had lunch at the place with some friends. The place is like a nice, cozy, small place where the menu is posted on a huge board to your right as soon as you walk in. My friends and I came in during lunchtime and it took me a while to choose which melt to order since there were so many to choose from. You also have the option of creating your melt or salad. I ordered the Italian melt and a caramel latte. The caramel latte tastes great. It was not too strong or too sweet. It also came in a to-go cup. The Italian melt had chicken, tomatoes, and cheese (i forgot which one) and I managed to finish all of it. It was very filling and I would want to come back to this place again to try the other kinds of melts on the menu. Went here for the first time during a lunch rush, and the young woman at the front was so kind and handled everything so well. I got the PBBJ and my boyfriend got a Hawaiian melt and both were amazing. I also got the Tallycinno (i think that's what it's called) which was delicious! We ate outside far away from anyone else and they had hand sanitizer everywhere. They clean the dishes off the tables and clean the tables between each customer, which is great. Sorry for the tardiness of this review. This was my first visit to the Freshroots Kitchen. I had the a Cuban sandwich for lunch. They did not have not Cuban bread but I substituted sour dough bread in its place. This worked out very well. The Cuban came with Ham, Garlic Aioli, Dill Pickle, Dijon Mustard, and Melted Provolone. The atmosphere was casual with music playing in the back ground at a low volume. The staff were very nice and the food came out quick. They give a military discount and are working on getting set up for a Law Enforcement discount. They are located on Facebook for more information on this establishment. I've dined at Freshroots on several occasions and have yet to be let down. Their hot sandwiches are all good, especially on sourdough bread. I'm also a big fan of their cold slaw and especially the gouda mac n cheese (it's so good they put in on one of their sandwiches). I do agree that they can do more with the decor...they inherited a pretty drab vinyl composition tile floor that resembles a doctor's office. If "wood look", vinyl plank was laid down over it, I think the place would look much better. Another plus is that they offer Lucky Goat hot and iced brewed coffee(another great addition to the Tallahassee food scene). I only wish that they were open on weekends...the eggs benedict sandwiches are excellent as well. This place is definitely a hidden gem...go check it out! read more
