Lakshi noodles
Vincent S.

Mediocre food. For $15 it was mostly rice noodles with overcooked shrimp that was 3-4 shrimp prawns. The noodles were well cooked and the sauce was delicious.... But was mostly noodles and sauce which is one of my pet peeves with cost saving measures from restaurant. I also added extra tofu for $3 which was also disappointing for portion size

Stopped by for lunch. Had dumplings with a Thai tea ($5). It came with 4 small dumplings, they were delicious! It will not fill your stomach, but I satisfied me for the taste! ランチに立ち寄りました。ダンプリングとお茶セットで5ドル。量は多く無いですが、4つのダンプリングはとっても美味しかったです。

I am not an expert but I know for a fact, that Fresh Bowl is trying to offer traditional flavours that are not only close to home for South East Asians but are approachable for Vancouverites. Let's clarify some misconceptions. Fresh Bowl is not a salad bar. Yes, there are offerings for salad, noodles or rice bases but it is not like Freshii. 'Fresh' in their name represents seeing cuisines and flavours through a fresh new lens and perspective. Located in Yaletown, yogiis, seawall runners and families can enjoy healthy food while learning about different cultural food influences in a no-frills, contemporary environment. Now, the best part... the food. They operate as a choose your base, sauce, protein and additional add ons structure. Like a salad bar but their sauces and noodle options are gear towards a familiar South East Asian vibe. They also serve ROTI made in house fresh every day. I was told that their Indonesian, Malaysian and Singaporean customers all praised this roti and my goodness, even my Indonesian friend said it was the closest to texture to ones from home. I tried the Laksa and Pad Thai (vegan sauce) and I was blown away with presentation and the flavours. I asked the owner about their story and how Fresh Bowl came to be. I learned a bit about the history of Malaysia's flavour profiles and how neighbouring countries and the colonization played a part in that development. However, the most important part is the spices and ingredients such as fresh galangal, lemongrass and the cooking process that make up key components of iconic cultural dishes. Merging West Coast sustainable and healthy practices with traditional recipes and ethically sourced ingredients, Fresh Bowl has surprised me with their bold flavours and I could taste the difference.

Thin noodle with Laksa soup and chicken for protein.

I always enjoy the noodle soups served at Freshbowl. My favourite is the Laksa soup paired with chicken. The serving size here is quite large for the surprisingly low price you need to pay in this neighbourhood making this restaurant one of the top "value picks" in Yaletown. All servings also come with a heaping portion of veggies making it a relatively healthy meal. The restaurant itself is also very clean, well maintained and staffed with very friendly people. I did find that the laksa served here is a bit mild compared to other laksas I have tried.

Ya! It's quite nice. Got it to go and it came in an easy to go take out container. You could probably enjoy this on the bus easily if you take transit. I drive but I'm just saying. I had mixed rice with coconut curry sauce and mixed vegetables. Was really tasty. Tastier than Freshii!!! A location in North Vancouver would be nice.

Chicken & prawns laksa. Pretty good!!!

I'll usually come here when I'm craving a warm, hearty bowl of Laksa! To be honest, it's not THE BEST, but it's the closest thing to the real deal in my neighbourhood... so I'll take it, gladly! The prices are good, quantity is filling and leaves you with extra for leftovers, and quality of the ingredients is pretty legit! They've got a variety of other bowls to order, some of which you can build yourself. My husband always gets the Pad Thai (he can never get enough of that stuff) and will probably swear by it til the day he dies.

We were able to grab a table for 2 around 8pm, which is great given how busy this place usually is. We ordered the following: Chicken Skewers: Decently grilled with a the meat juicy and tender meat. The nice peanut sauce hit the spot! Seafood laksa: Full of deep rich flavours, this also really hit the spot especially on a cold and rainy night. The mix noodles had a nice chew and there were lots of tofu, seafood, and a full boiled egg (cut in half). Definitely a solid bowl of laksa! Fried Noodles: A great comfort dish. The noodles were springy and well-seasoned, with plenty of toppings mixed in. Not greasy, which I really appreciated, and the portion was generous. Roti: Comes with a thin curry sauce and served with sugar on the side. The roti is super buttery, soft, and flakey. One of the best roti's in the city! The curry sauce is too thin for my liking but decent flavours. Overall, the service is prompt but no frills. The food speaks for itself and is tasty at good portions at decent prices.

Their CHAR KOAY TEOW is good too - it is chewy and not greasy. It's my first time trying the BBQ ribs. The meat is tender and so well seasoned. I'll order the dish again. Service and cleanliness is normal. I like that they let us have hot tea instead of water for free. The parking lot at the back alley has quite a lot of spots so it is easy to find a spot. I am excited they're opening in Burnaby soon. Hopefully the food quality in the new location would be as good as the one in Richmond.
