    Catfish dinner $18 & large collards $7
    Ellen K.

First off, prices have been raised a lot. Second, mac'n cheese has been discontinued. Never made sense that it was only offered on Fridays & Saturdays. My friend & I met here for lunch. She had a cheeseburger with the works and fries. Looked fabulous and my friend said it tasted great! She's very critical, so I know it was good! I tried the catfish dinner. Nice big crispy tender filet, red beans & rice (very delicious) and a too tiny little piece of sweet fluffy cornbread. The price for this dinner went from $15 to $18. While I really enjoyed it, it will be awhile before I order it again. Maybe if there was an adult sized piece of cornbread? I love what they're doing here and the involvement in the community.

Mary and I stopped in for lunch today; our first visit. The place is colorful in presentation, we were greeted by friendly staff; the place is very clean. Mary ordered the Fresh Soul Special; two ribs, one chicken leg, one hot link, two sides, (she choose red beans and rice and potato salad), cornbread, and sweet tea. Everything was delicious, the corn bread is sweet and could have been dessert. I ordered the Catfish sandwich and fries. The fish had a nice crunchy coating and was soft and tender inside, with a mild sauce, the roll was soft and fresh, a delicious sandwich. The fries were hot and tasty. We also got a side of mac'n-cheese which was exceptional. This place hires young folks needing help to an intern position and teaches life and business skills; what a blessing and example of God's Grace in action. You should get in here and give this place a try.

You can feel the ambiance of a passion to serve tasty food and excellent service the moment you enter. You feel at home.

I can't speak highly enough about this place. This restaurant isn't just a restaurant but it gives kids a great opportunity. They do job training that not only teaches kids practical skills like having a job, budgeting, interview skills and, mentoring. It also gives them a purpose and a reason to have pride not only with themselves but their community. It's a small place that has a big heart. Walking in you are greater and sat at a table. Brought waters and your other drink orders are taken. I got their sweet tea which was sweet but not overly so. We ordered their gumbo special that runs once a month and I believe their number 7. The food came out fast and looked delicious. The gumbo was loaded with crab sausage in a thin broth with rice and other goodies. The number 7 had ribs, sausage, chicken with, corn bread and two side. We got the homemade potato salad and french fries. Everything was delicious. The ribs literally fell off the bone. The chicken was hot and crunchy and the sausage was awesome. The gumbo was amazing. Great flavor and super fresh The cornbread was like and airy and packed with flavor. It was a fun and fantastic experience. The service was spot on and the food so tasty. I will definitely be back. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a taste of the south.

This was my first time I ever been to fresh soul, I got a combo meal and the potato salad was ok, I loved the red beans and rice, the hot links were nice and spicy, the chicken was alright but seemed flavorless and the cornbread was nice and sweet. All in all was good but my ribs seemed a tad dry even with the sauce, the meat fell off the bone but it was a tad chewy and was hard to chew for a bit. Other then that I love this little place and over time the more I eat here the more I'll get to try different items on the menu so if anyone is going to be in the Spokane area hit them up and telling you if you love spicy food then hot link ain't no joke lol.

What we ordered: * Whipped Honey Cornbread: Seared edges, whipped honey butter, and scallions. Honestly addictive. Sweet, buttery, slightly crisp on the outside and soft inside! I just can't stop eating them * Hush Puppies: Served hot and crunchy with Louisiana Come Back sauce. Simple but really well done, especially with this dipping sauce. * Poached Pear Salad: Sweet poached pears, with a nutty flavor from candied pecans and dried cherries. I don't like goat cheese so I just pretend it didn't exist Light but flavorful, with a nice balance of sweet and tangy to pair with 2 heavy dishes above. * Voodoo Pork Chop: My main dish, I was surprised with the huge portion (10oz chop), served with collard greens, creole sauce, and sweet potatoes. Pork was incredibly tender and juicy, a bit salty but this is one of the best ones I've had in a while. It honestly felt like two servings and is definitely shareable. It was perfectly portioned, seasoned and balanced. Beautifully poached egg topped with micro greens and tangy pickled white onions nestled between delicious fried Green tomatoes and blackened shrimp. Creamy, velvety hollendaise brought everything together. My partner had a delicious omelet with Idaho potatoes Oh, lavender mimosas with edible flowers were a nice touch too. My wife and I had a rare night out for dinner last night and we were in Post Falls. The White House Grill is famous for their garlicky foods (not all) and we like that. We could smell garlic at the entrance. My wife ordered a version of a gyro and Greek salad, which she described as "OK." It was a pita with curried chicken, unlike what she preferred as a gyro (chicken, no curry), but she tried it. I ordered the souvlaki (lamb kabobs), served over a large bed of rice and with "garlicky" green beans. The lamb, by the way was very tough to cut and to chew, more like mutton but not with any fat. Rethinking, I shouldn't have tried lamb at all, simply on ethics (mine). It looked enticing but I couldn't taste any of it. That is because I couldn't smell any of it, even when holding the plate right under my nose. No smell, no taste. That was because our 18-ish server was reeking of perfume, like she bathed in it. I believe there was another servicer of about the same age walking around with the same odor. It reminded me of a church service and elderly ladies. The most difficult part here is that our server was great! She was clear-spoken, sharp, and friendly. I just couldn't breathe when she came to our table (3-4 times). Maybe she doesn't like to smell garlic or want to smell like it, herself, but I can't return. I have two adult children who are both professional servers, so I hope these young women will understand and make adjustments for the customers. She truly is great at her job, otherwise.

Best ribs I have had in the Spokane area, fall-off-the-bone, and smoky delicious. I love their flavor, doesn't need any additional BBQ sauce at all. Perfect as-is. One tip... A pound of the ribs is a lot more than I anticipated, especially with the sides. Way overbought, but was a great leftover meal. We tried the smoked brisket recently, also outstanding (Another tip: Ask for a more fatty cut, unless you prefer your brisket dry). They also have smoked meatloaf... I think I know what we will try next! This place is a bit hard to find as it is a couple blocks off of Freya, tucked back in a rural neighborhood near the future North-South Freeway. But Google it, as it is well worth finding. A true diamond in the rough. I hope they make it, and can possibly open in a more easily accessed area. BTW, the service was outstanding as well.
