This is a small bar/taco bar out in the Valley we decided to try and I'm glad we did. They are mostly a well stocked bar and we do prefer beer but hubby found an IPA that he liked. The tacos were really good. Definitely not SW tacos but more a designer type. They offer either chicken or brisket. We both had the brisket but I'm sure the chicken are also very good. The sauce they use have a sweet flavor and lend toward BBQ so if that is a flavor combo you like they are worth trying. I loved them! The lone bartender/waiter handled the patrons handily. The mushroom tacos were okay. The mushrooms were cooked well but mild. The sauce added some depth. The place was neat and quiet.

It's rare you find a casual and unassuming bar that serves up delicious food and has an excellent whiskey selection. I popped in for takeout on a Friday night around 7pm. The bar was full but there were a couple of open tables. Sports on a few TVs. I ordered the brisket street tacos to go and while I was waiting had a Taylor single barrel! I could have gone with the Weller or Blanton's just as easily. The Taylor over a large rock is one of my faves. The service was wonderful - my server was helpful, kind and provided excellent service. The whole meal, including chips and salsa, was $30. Not too shabby considering the quality of whiskey! I would be a regular here if I lived in the area. Accidentally found this place on a business trip & WILL be going back again before we leave!!! Ambiance is great & the food was to die for! We got Chicken Street Tacos & the Brisket Southwestern Tacos. I will say that calling it a "street taco" is a little deceiving. I'm used to street tacos being just meat, onion & cilantro. Fun atmosphere with outside seating available. We sat inside. Service was decent. They were having problems with their taps and had problems pouring a full beer. Food was decent. Tacos are not authentic in any way, even by southwest standards, but they were good. I'll have to stop by gain when their taps are fully working. To start. The service is friendly & prompt and also They have Johnny Utah on draft. Just to clarify, that's an amazingly bright and inviting pale ale that I could see being my new favorite beer. Speaking of new favorites. Their brisket taco is worth any gas money it takes to get there. Setup like a double decker, hard shell inside a soft shell...packed full of mouth watering meat. Drizzled with some sort of ambrosia from the Gods of a sauce. Also noteworthy, their corn dip...I'm not sure exactly what all was in it, but it was gone real quick. Joe's House is Flavortown, USA. If you like heavy amounts of flavors and sauces on your food, then you will like Joe's. My wife and I ordered the brisket tacos. They were a little bit on the small side and had more of a pita tortilla than a Mexican tortilla but I thought it worked. If there are heavy juices in a taco, a pita will hold the juices easier than a tortilla. The meat was tasty, although a bit sparse. The main feature of these tacos is that they are covered in sauce. You have to adjust your biting motion so that you don't end up with sauce all over your face. My closest comparison for the heavy sauce would be sushi rolls with lots of additional sauces. If people didn't like it, then it wouldn't be so popular. Unfortunately, I am not in this camp. I don't prefer the heavily adulterated sushi and I did not prefer all the added sauces on the tacos. Joe's tacos have the important taco components correct: meat and shell. The added sauces were a little too far from original tacos for my liking. Based on the other reviews, most people enjoy this type of taco innovation. read more
