Excellent restaurant and FRESH is true about everything. Great options for a delicious meal: grains, greens, veggies, meat protein, fresh extras like pesto tomatoes (yum!). I was hesitant on a sauce so the server suggested the ginger and it was outstanding. Ok. Now I've got it. Two (2) things. 1. I travel for business 2. I hardly know anything about Tampa dining even though I live here. There is a Fresh Kitchen in SoHo and when I always have driven by I say "what's all the brouhaha here must be another Tampa trend" because I see all the so-called edgy people walking into it. The fresh kitchen in SoHo is more hip, it's not in a storefront or a newer brick and mortar, it's in a shanty. So, I'm traveling through Sarasota and wanted to grab dinner, and I see there's a Fresh Kitchen but didn't put two and two together. I check out Fresh Kitchen online, and it's basically the same concept as Bolay, which I eat a ton of over in West Palm Beach. I'm very glad I found something similar on the west coast, because this place is awesome! Very fast, very convenient. All of the ingredients are fresh and well prepared. I'm one of those jerks who can eat a ton and not gain weight, so I get their 6 bowl, which is to bases, two vegetables, two proteins (ie meat) and so forth. BBQ chicken is very so worth it and actually mixes well with the cauliflower mash. I would take note from your competition. No Brussels sprouts?! Totally need to add those to your vegetable line-up. As mentioned, the cauliflower mash is extremely exciting. Therefore, I'd say this is the best bowl establishment in the Sarasota area, at least around UTC. I ate at Fresh Kitchen 3 times in the 4 days I was in Sarasota. The food here is crazy good, healthy, and my kid loved it so it was a pretty easy choice. The kale slaw, coconut rice and brussel sprouts were my favorite. It's actually making me kind of sad knowing that I won't have this beautiful mix of deliciousness again for a while. While the healthy food is appreciated and the see through cooler shows all the fresh veg I found the staff to lack experience. Food looked very dry. It was tasty but it was like it was sitting too long. We were rushed through the small line and found the same as another reviewer that one staff member was asking what we wanted before the other was finished. The cashier was in the moon and even charged us for the customer behind without asking. Then left our food in the back and we had to reach over and grab it as he just left without even saying anything. Then as we were filling our drinks they came over and mentioned that they over charged us. Took my credit card and returned. No receipt so I can only assume I was charged correctly this time. My wife loved it while I just did not care for it and probably won't return unless the staff improves. Maybe just opening week fumbles but I think the opening week needs to be stellar otherwise bad marks stick. read more

I've had my eye on this place, I think it's been open a short time. Fresh kitchen yes but no mention of organic, but organic is rare. Lunch and dinner only $10 can't beat that! You get 2 base 2 proteins 2 veggies for that price and all the veggies look excellent. First time there I have ordered Veggie Quinoa, kale slaw, mushrooms, roasted brussels sprouts with chia tofu and Almond chicken. All the selections are delightfully seasoned. This newly opened place has a great concept- providing healthy, nutritious, and tasty build your own bowls for a decent price and made quickly. However, I think that they still need to work out the kinks and improve the execution. You get to choose either a chefs special bowl or create your own bowl with 2 bases and 1 or 2 veggies and protein and sauce. While there is a large variety for the bases (I got a delicious chilled quinoa and kale), I wish that they had more options for the veggies. The veggie options are all roasted, and I wish they would have some fresh veggies. What I did like was that they had poke tuna as a protein option ($1.50 add on), but again, I think some fresh veggies would go better with it than mushrooms or Parmesan broccoli would. In terms of flavor, a lot of the cooked additions were burnt. My brother had steak which was a little burnt, as were the mushrooms and broccoli. The roasted Brussel sprouts I had as my veggie add on were undercooked and hard to chew. However, the poke tuna was really fresh and delicious. Overall, this is a great option if you want a quick, healthy lunch, and hopefully they will improve the food preparation a little! read more

The broccoli is undercooked ...and all stems, buffalo cauliflower undercooked and not great buffalo sauce, the carrots were tasty but hard as they too were undercooked. The Brussel sprouts are their genius veggie item and they were out today. Grrrr. Bases are Delish. My go to is brown rice and kale. Add brussel sprout or green beans and coconut sriracha sauce. The sauces are 5 star worthy. Holy kale is holy heaven, sriracha coconut enters my dreams at night, balsamic is drinkable. This food is so good I drive to Lakewood ranch to get it. Instead of taking an extra minute to welcome me and explain the process to me as a first timer. I got attitudes that I wanted to take 5 seconds to look at all the vegetables before picking one. It's a healthy, slightly more expensive version of Chipotle. And it's located near LA Fitness, so you can get your clean post-workout meal. Like any other build-your-own place, service is reasonably quick and you can easily customize your orders. I ordered the 4 bowl I really love the food's flavors. My coconut rice was creamy without being greasy, the brussel sprouts were perfectly grilled so the edges were slightly crispy (and still not greasy), the kale salad was nice and clean, without any bitter stems. My poke, for an extra $1.50 had a similar sauce to the coconut rice flavor. My only complaint is that the protein portion is minuscule. Maybe I've been spoiled by a plethora of poke places in Southern California, but if I'm going to pay an extra $1.50 for poke, I expect a respectable size. Instead, I got a small(er?) scoop of poke that was didn't really stand up against the 3 other sides. And many of you fellow fitness friends understand when I would like a higher protein ratio to carbs. I finished my bowl still hungry. After hearing nothing but rave reviews from friends, my husband and I finally tried this place out. In short: We went for lunch on Saturday and went back for lunch on Sunday. (And we live 30 minutes away.) For the healthy conscious and the gluten-free, this is as good as it gets. Lots of options (all gluten-free & dairy free) to create your own bowl of goodness. What I loved the most was the fact that every item was cooked and seasoned perfectly so that it was good all on its own, which is hard to come by when we're talking about veggies. I am obsessed with their grilled whole mushrooms. They taste like fried mushrooms without the breading. I could eat a bowl filled with nothing else. Also highly recommend the BBQ chicken, turmeric cauliflower, sweet potato rice noodles, coconut rice, kale slaw & the siracha coconut sauce. They also sell fresh juices & smoothies. We tried a green juice and a fresh almond milk. Both were delish. The staff is very friendly and will let you sample any item as you build your bowl, which is great because it's easy to get overwhelmed with all the options as a first timer.
