I have been going to another donut shop for years and let me tell you, these are so much better! Finally gettn to this review... This shop is in the same center as the 99cents only store. It seems to be an older center. I was on a mission for donuts to surprise my daughter but Yelp only had a few listed so I went to the closest, Tracy Donuts. The reviews were not great but again, I was on a mission. I arrived to find the shop is closed until the 15th.... Hmmm curiousity has me wondering why! Vacation? We're they forced to close for food health reasons? Or financial? Who know! I still had a mission to accomplish. So I was off to Mark's Donut and Yogurt Express on 11th although the reviews said this shop was so so and expensive. I didn't make it to the shop before I saw Fresh Donuts and made a u-turn. A family and a dad and son were jus coming out so I thought, Wth I'll try it! Before I walked in I was greeted immediately and ready to be served. It was maybe round 9-9:30. The shop appeared clean for the old"ish" shopping center. It was dark as if all the lights were off but the sun shining in did light up the shop somewhat. The woman servicing me gave me the name of each donut I selected as I forgot the names (of course I never forget which ones I like look like) LOL..... There were plenty of donuts available to choose from. I was surprised how small the cake donuts were and the old fashioned donuts didn't appear plump as well but I went ahead and asked for some bcz they are some of my gave kinds. I checked the drink cooler for orange juice (not much of a selection) but found sunny D which was a no go for me so skipped on the juice. I planned to stop by Starbucks for coffee so didn't order any but it was available. One customer who arrived earlier was trying to pump the coffee out but was empty which led me to believe they must've been busy earlier or could of not made a full brew. A doz cost me under 10$. Got home and my daughter was excited since didn't tell her I was getting donuts. She ate a cake donut and glazed... She was happy. I ate a crumb, glazed and tried a piece of old fashion. These were not the best I'd ever had but did the trick. I have to say the old fashion did have a weird taste so I won't choose that one again. Overall with service, quality and price I'd give them 3 stars. read more

Below mediocre Extremely limited section. I ordered a cream filled doughnut and received a custard filled one instead. The filling was a sweet flavorless gravy that was injected at the last minute. The coffee is bad too. If anyone has doubts about why the bigger chains put these mom and pop operations out of business this is why. I'm more of a cake donut lover. Buttermilk and old fashions. But this place has amazing, pillowy, yeast donuts that's I can't resist! And you can't forget the Apple fritters! Yum! I show up just as the apple fritters are coming out! And everyone is so friendly! Just love this place! I feel bad that I haven't been coming here for the past 8 years that I've been back in town, the bacon egg and cheese croissant is great, I've only tried that and the donut holes so far but the donuts look great and they have crullers which are my favorite so I'll definitely be trying them soon. The donuts are wonderful. I had a maple bar and a cake donut; both were soft, light (dough) and the icing has the right level of sweetness. I highly recommend this bakery. I call it a bakery because after you have eaten their pastries, you will immediately recognize the influence of a French baker. The owners (bakers) have learned well.
