    A dozen ensaymadas
    Jen H.

Found out about this place from my aunt in Modesto because otherwise I would have never heard of it myself. It is a small Filipino bakery inside a National gas station in Tracy. They sell the most delicious ensaymadas that are so moist and sylvanas that are to die for! They have various flavors but my favorite ensaymadas are the ube and oreo and the pistachio sylvanas. We stopped by on our way back from SoCal so I knew we would arrive closer to closing so I called ahead around 2pm and I am glad I did because they only had 5 sylvanas total left. The girl working was so nice and accommodating that she reserved them for me even though we were still almost 3 hours away! If in the area, I highly recommend you stop by and try these delectables!

6" ube sans rival cake & ensaymada (green tea, ube, cheese, Oreo)

You know you're on Filipino turf when the customers in front of you are sassy Filipino aunties with one taking a phone call delving straight into loud gossip dramatics lol. They ordered a bunch of halo-halo drinks.....the drinks looked pretty hefty and if I didn't have to drive right after leaving here I would've most likely gotten one too (darn you 85+ degree weather!). Anyway, I visited here to pick up a 6" ube sans rival cake that I ordered online as well as to grab some ensaymadas. If you don't know what a sans rival cake is, it's a cake with thin meringue layers (they're crispy and chewy.....think of very flattened French macaron shells) covered in buttercream and chopped cashews. In general I'm not the ultimate fan of standard sans rival cakes because the buttercream typically used tastes like straight whipped butter (the polar opposite to super rich American buttercream, which I'm not a fond of either #picky). I love the meringue layers in the cake though and I was hoping that the cake being ube flavored would make it much better. In terms of the particular ube sans rival cake here, the meringue layers were amazing, but the ube taste was unfortunately very subtle. As for ensaymadas, I highly recommend pre-ordering them online because at the time that I visited (Sat afternoon) there were very slim pickings. I should've ordered these ahead of time with the cake but I was lucky in that I still got all of the flavors that I wanted to try. The ensaymadas were pretty good! Dinner-roll soft with zero staleness (Goldilocks, who??). I was caught off guard on the first bite since it was kinda strikingly salty from the cream but after quickly acclimating to the Filipino food palate I was fine lol. I was most surprised on the green tea one.....it wasn't typical green tea but actually legit real matcha! Bold earthy goodness. Overall definitely recommend checking this spot out for Filipino sweets. It's tucked inside the back corner of the National gas station food market and is right off of the 205 freeway!

We finally went here to try their products, this place is inside the store of gas station in Tracy, there was a long line to buy their food and yes some of the products are not available, prior of coming here,we tried calling but nobody's answering the phone, their halo halo is good ,the ice texture is different from other places, pandesal was good but very small, overall, this place is just ok.

Ever since I saw the KQED story about this Filipino dessert spot/bakery, I've had my fair share of... almost everything! I'll start with their Pan de sal.  It's not the usual "by the bag" purchase that you would see at Valerios Bakery. These mini rolls you buy per piece and it's usually straight out of the oven.  I had to wait for these a few times before, and it's worth the short wait.  Get em while they're hot and fluffy! Their ensaymadas here are soft, fresh, not too sweet, and nicely packaged. Having different flavors like oreo, green tea, and dulce de leche are a plus and great for parties or gifts.  Just don't be alarmed that some toppings stick to the packaging. I use the packaging as a messy plate and do the wipe and bite technique. I'm a fan of their regular cheese, ube cheese, and salted egg.   It's been a while since I've had a good empanada. Here at Ellis, I found a GREAT empanada!  The chicken filling included a mix of carrots, peas, raisins and had a noticeable bell pepper-y taste. Breading is light, flaky, and buttery.  Again, these come out fresh from the oven.  Perfect for a snack or light lunch. Pairs well with a Coke!! I finally had their Pistachio Sansrival cake.  It's tall and pleasing to the eye.  I prefer the shallower sheets of this type of meringue layered buttercream cake.  Nevertheless, the taste was out of this world, with their version of French buttercream and nuttiness of the pistachio. Not too sweet, light and crisp.  Better when served lightly frozen.  Their Silvanas were also a treat for me.  These puck-sized treats mimicked the light and crispy texture, with that magical buttercream filling.   Creamery is in their name and they didn't disappoint in the ice cream department. Ube, pistachio, and sweet corn are my favorites... for now. Their halo halo dessert was just okay for me.  I guess I'm used to more ingredients to mix mix.  The Ube ice cream made this dessert. I was more impressed with their Buko Pandan with that vanilla-coconut-ty taste with little amount of jelly nuggets. A dynamite iced dessert, even during wintertime! When KQED says, "This Filipino gas station dessert shop is among Norcal's most delicious secrets," I'd have to agree.  Although, it's not really a secret anymore. Can't wait to get me some fresh-out-of-the-oven goods this week!

Gas station shop, very interesting that a little bakery would be inside. It's was 11:33 AM on a Sunday and the line was pretty long. Bakery was pretty empty. About 7 people ahead of me. I came to try empanadas which were a 30 minutes wait. Ensaymadas which were already for another customer so pretty much sold out for the day. I didn't want to wait in the long line for Spanish rolls so decided to go down the street and try Starbread. I'll have to come back another time during a weekday.

Heard about Ellis Creamery through a KQED article. It does a much better job of describing this place much better than I could ever: https://www.kqed.org/arts/13919707/ellis-creamery-filipino-ice-cream-bakery-halo-halo-gas-station-tracy The first obstacle to getting here is finding the darn place. As others mentioned, it's inside the National Gas Station. Going east down Grant Line Road, you'll want to turn right onto Toste Rd and then left into the gas station. I did more U-turns in 5 minutes than I care to say to get here. There are only a handful of parking spots in front, but there's quite a few more in back facing the Carl's Jr. Once you're in the gas station, it's all the way in the back and tucked into southwest corning of the building. Another Yelper mentioned "hidden treasure", but Ellis Creamery needs a pirate's map where X marks the spot. On to the food - I had no idea what to get - but a friendly gentleman staffing the counter helped me through the offerings. I wound up getting a halo-halo and some ensaymadas. Taking the halo-halo description straight from the KQED article - "The treat includes the usual shaved ice, ube ice cream, sweet kidney beans, coconut jelly and condensed milk--but, at Ellis Creamery, it also comes topped with crushed meringue, an ingredient that's used in their other products: Filipino cakes and cookies such as Sans Rivals and Silvanas." I didn't know what the meringue was, but I thought it tasted like powdered graham crackers before reading the description. Halo halo is a meal replacement as it is a 20 oz cup filled to the brim with different goodies. I'm convinced it is what inspired Willy Wonka's craziness. Ensaymadas remind me of Hawaiian rolls except bigger, fluffier, and fresher. I got an oreo and a dulce de leche, but you could throw anything onto that base and it's going to taste good. If you're in or around Tracy, this is a spot definitely worth finding and stopping for.

I have been wanting to try the ice cream here mainly because I wanted to try a boozy one but when I was finally able to come by they are no longer selling them because someone complained about the alcohol amount. They already gave their formula and now they have to try and send it in again for it to be approved....so my stars will be 5 stars once I get to try the booze ice cream. They were nice and let us try flavors. I like the different choices they have. They halo halo was not what I was expecting which was just ice cream and no shaved ice which threw me off. I wouldn't recommend it but the other treats and flavored ice cream yes. To find the location just know your going into a gas station and inside toward the back they will be.

Ellis Creamery earns 5 stars every single time. Don't shy away from trying it because they're inside a convenience store. I promise they're amazing and my favorite hidden gem in all of tracy. My favorites: Pandan ice cream rocks--unique flavor from a tropical plant. Halo halo, which is shaved ice, fruits, jellies-- pairs AMAZING with their pandan ice cream! Ube cake with cheese--surprisingly perfect combo. It balances salty and sweet really well, and isn't overpoweringly sweet since the 'cupcake' part is bread. The macaron cakes are super flakey for a delightful, irresistible texture. Their Oreo and pistachio flavors are my favorites! I've attached a photo of the pistachio cake below. Their staff is incredibly friendly. Once, I wanted a pandan ice cream sample, and they brought me an entire cup! Countless positive experiences--I can't recommend them enough. A must-visit for dessert enthusiasts.

We got a scoop of the buko pandan and a scoop of the lavender berries. The scoops were huge, and both ice cream flavors were really good. I am definitely coming back to try the other items on the menu!

This unassuming business inside a gas station has been my go to place for the Best halo halo in town! Every bite is full of flavor. I have also had their maiz con yellow, buko pandan, chicken ensemada, silvanas and pandesal.

This Filipino bakery cum ice cream store is in a gas station and it is a hidden gem. Ube ice cream is a unique flavor from this store and it is a must try ice cream in this store and the price is reasonable. I also had couple of bread rolls, it is 50 cents a piece and very fresh but I felt it had lot of yeast and it smelled yeast I am not sure if all Filipino breads have lot of yeast. Chicken empanada is really good, the chicken stuff inside tastes like a chicken pie it has lot of veggies with creamy texture. They are baked fresh every day and by the time I went there, only couple of them were left. There are couple of tables in the gas station to have the ice cream. The staff is very friendly and they suggested what to try as I went there for the first time and they deserve some tip. We should encourage these small businesses as they make everything fresh.

This place is a hidden gem located in a gas station in Tracy, CA. I came on a Saturday right when they opened up at 12 pm and I'm glad that I came early because a long line was starting to form. I got a 8 different flavored ensaymadas and a pistachio sans rival cake. I really wanted to try their green tea flavored ensaymada and Ube sans rival, but they didn't have any on the day I went. However, I did try their ube and Oreo ensaymadas which were both so good. The ensaymadas weren't dry and had just the right amount of cream/filling. The pistachio sans rival was nice and crisp, light, and each layer had the perfect amount of pistachios and buttercream filling/meringue. It was nicely sweet and I enjoyed each bite. It melts in your mouth. I'm happy that I discovered this place and I would definitely come back to try other baked goods and dessert items!

Stockton appointment called for a sweet stop. This place is def hidden and good. Give it a try if you're in the area! I'm a huge fan of green tea ice cream and this one's a bit sweet but still good and yummy! Place is in gas station next to Big Bear Diner so no problem in parking.

Review #1,000 Posted on 2.11.26…read more We've been coming to Aldo's for around 8 years now, basically as long as we've lived in Tracy, most recently for some gelato togo on Sunday the 21st of December 2025. My wife & I also hired Aldo's to do the dessert at our kids birthday party our 1st year in Tracy as well, it was a huge hit. Hard to find anyone who doesn't love gelato. My favorite flavor overall since I've been going there is "cookies" They do a good job rotating flavors too. They usually have a few test flavors in their main display for people to choose. They also have a few keto flavors typically as well. They carry custard, vanilla or chocolate, and sorbets too. Lots to choose from. Rich, Michelle, & the crew are all super nice, and give great customer service & a great product. One thing this place is really good at, is being open. Local business we've noticed, close pretty early, or sometimes aren't even open when they say they are. If I go to Aldo's before 10 pm, I don't think I've ever seen them closed. Give this local family owned spot a try.
