    Chicken special
    Arthur S.

I've never had a bad meal at Fresco. They have several wines on the tap system at a decent price. The chef makes up his own specials each night and they are fantastic. The Veal Piccata was excellent. There are two small pieces of veal served with mashed potatoes and vegetables. The sauce was perfectly balanced and the flavors were amazing. A' The lamb shank special was cooked perfectly and the red wine demi glaze was the perfect match for the dish served over mashed potatoes. It was very filling and flavorful. $35 A+ The chicken special with had a sherry sauce on it with fresh cheese and prosciutto. This dish was great as well, perfectly balanced. A+

Got there at dinner time to a packed house!! Beautiful outside seating area as well. Seated in the back room. It was beautifully decorated and quiet. Had a great waitress named Mikayla. Very knowledgeable of the menu and even talked about the special "Fuel Cell" Bourbon that was made special at the Makers Mark Distillery! Of course we had to try! Ordered the black angus bruschetta, Arancini balls and also the homemade meatballs for an app! All delish. The red sauce taste almost like Nonni's!! For dinner we had the Short rib and the chicken milanaise. Cutlets were cooked perfect! Dessert was of course the best!! Cheesecake was good but the best thing ever was the blueberry lemon mascarpone cake! So good we forgot to get a picture!! We'll absolutely be back! Can't not wait to try more dishes!!

Great restaurant and fun bar. Food is always good and drinks are delicious. Easy place to relax and unwind after a long week. Friday night specials are always good and so plentiful you can split a salad and entree! Bartenders are great as well!

House made ricotta gnocchi is soft and tasty.

Out of state guests arrived late in the day and we were able to get a dinner reservation at Fresco's just a couple of hours before they arrived. We were very glad they had room and wow did that choice turn out great. We have been telling ourselves to try this place literally since we saw them setting up shop and we definitely should have tried harder to get there. The set up is the same as the previous business with less knick-knacks taking up visual space. Nice and serene. The wait staff are well trained; professional without being stuffy. Our waitress had a good sense of humor and was knowledgeable about food and beverage. We started with a variety of adult beverages. The glass of wine I received was 'corky' and although I hesitate to make a fuss, I was really looking forward to this wine and it just needed to be 'right'! I asked her for a new glass from a new bottle, and she very happily took it back and brought me another. Yes! That is what I was expecting. So much better and it was so well orchestrated by our waitress. Ahhh, stress relieved. The fun night continues. The entrée portions here are ginormous. The menu is similar to the one's we encountered in our Italian travels with each of the courses laid out, which was very nice to see. We all went straight to the entree's and they were all delicious! The 'tossed lasagna' is an interesting looking dish. It has all the components of a traditional lasagna, just a bit more, well, 'tossed' looking. My SO enjoyed this dish. The House made ricotta gnocchi was amazing from first taste! The gnocchi is soft and so flavorful. The sauce did not overpower the dish. The cheese was a nice accompaniment. All together a very nice dish. I also ordered a side of sautéed spinach. I really enjoy this dish as a general rule; it's on almost every menu in Italy we've been to (and that's a lot) and it was definitely well prepared here. Simple, quality ingredients make a quality dish. So glad I ordered that as a side. I ate all the spinach, but you could easily share it with one or more in your party. All together a very good experience. The staff worked very well together and we felt well cared for, the food was delicious and we brought home enough left overs for two more meals each plus a bottle of olive oil. If you haven't tried Fresco's you may want to add it to your list.

    Sunday night pasta special
    Daniel Y.

Dined at this location a few times in the past and we was able to get a reservation on Yelp for Sunday night and both the service and meal was great. Started with the fried calamari with the marinara sauce on the side. Calamari was prepared close to perfection, crispy and tender. Wife had the Tuna Tartar Tower which is 1 of her usual choices. I opted for the pasta special of the night Which was a fra diablo w/ chopped clams, little necks, broccoli rabe, and a piece of panko encrusted cod on top of tagliatelle pasta. That was a great choice I really enjoyed the dish. This restaurant offers a great meal at a very reasonable price. We will definitely be dining here again in the future.

    Chicken special with risotto

What an amazing meal. We started with the prosciutto pizza which is awesome, and the arancini which was good. Then the chicken special with risotto for my meal and wow. It was damn near perfect. If you go get this.

I had an amazing experience eating dinner here tonight. It is one of my new favorites. The drinks, ambiance, service, and food was amazing. Everything was well priced for a fancier restaurant. We dined around six and it was quiet on a Friday night. I ordered the ricotta gnocchi which was amazing, and my boyfriend ordered the special of the day surf and turf, which had the most amazing fried potato I have ever eaten in my life. Will be dining here again.

Always a treat having dinner at Fresco. Monday's dinner for two specials are unbeatable and value for money. Try to save some room for desserts. Everyone is attentive and accommodating. The place is clean and relaxing.

Actually not the place we were going to but we were in the area and saw the restaurant and decided to stop. Clean and comfortable casual setting. The smaller dining area we were in gets a little loud. Shhhhh! Spencer our server was very pleasant. The warm bread on the table is always a nice touch. The pink vodka Gnocchi and the short rib sliders were good. Nice local place if you are in the area.

I was…read morein the marching band, if that explains anything But with the Pats first playoff win, Cowesett Pizza was offering a special through today - one topping bar pie for $12. They also had a deal on a regular one topping for $10 but I made the trek from the office in Milford MA all the way to West Warwick instead of home today. I was a woman on a mission. I came in and took a seat at the bar. I had been here once before so I knew that the place was small but clean and bright inside. I ordered a beer and my pizza, then sat back and waited. The staff worked like a well oiled machine pumping out food and taking care of every customer with ease After a while, my beautiful baby landed right in front of me. I chose cherry peppers as my one topping, wanting the heat and vinegar taste. I was hungry so I immediately dug in. The crust was crispy but gave way when I bit into it. The sauce and cheese together were salty, savory and sharp. The beer was a good choice to have with this pizza for sure. The lacy crunchy edges were fantastic, the cooked down cheese having a taste I can only describe as similar to extra crispy bacon. Awesome. Before I left I snagged a slice of the Dubai Chocolate Cheesecake by The Side Slice who sells incredible cheesecakes thru preorder on his page or you can find a rotation of slices in the Cowesett cooler. I waited until I got home to enjoy this wonderful dessert: chocolate cake base, filled with pistachio cheesecake, topped with a thick layer of pistachio kaitafi, covered in chocolate fudge frosting, pistachio whipped cream, and chopped pistachios. The bite was divine. I cut off another bite and ate each layer individually, such different but wonderful textures and flavors. I managed to stop halfway through the slice to save the rest for tomorrow but I will be thinking about that cheesecake as much as I'll be thinking about that bar pie. So if you haven't made the detour off Route 2 to have some pizza and cheesecake, you need to fix that asap. And sorry to all those who missed out on this deal, because I had a three course meal for $27 with leftovers for at least two more meals. Thanks so much!

Next time I'll ask for a side of marinara to dip in. I do love a red sauce but with this thin a crust I get the need for very minimal sauce. The reputation arrives first…read more Walk into Frank Pepe's on Universal Boulevard in Warwick, and a hundred years of reputation walks in with you. The original is on Wooster Street in New Haven. It opened in 1925. Frank Pepe was a 32-year-old Italian immigrant from the Amalfi coast who had been selling pies from a hat, carrying them on his head through the neighborhood market to feed factory workers who needed something hot and good and cheap. He saved enough to open a real restaurant. He built an oven. The oven stayed put for over 100 years, because you do not move a hundred thousand pounds of brick. His nickname was Old Reliable. That history is sitting at the table with you whether you know it or not. The Warwick location lit its coal-fired oven in the spring of 2018. Seven years of continuous heat. The bricks are absorbing it slowly, not all at once but building. You can taste what they share with the original, which is the part that matters. We ordered the tomato pie with meatballs. This is the right call at Pepe's and I am not apologizing for it. The tomato pie is where the place began. Two items on the original 1925 menu: tomato pie and tomato pie with anchovies. No mozzarella because there was no refrigeration. Constraint became tradition the way it always does, faster than philosophy ever manages. At Pepe's, mozzarella is optional. Pecorino and the tomatoes and the crust are the baseline, and the baseline is the argument. The sauce is crushed Italian tomatoes. That description undersells it. The sauce at Pepe's has been refined for a century to carry a pie without a cheese safety net, which means it has to be bright and acidic and complex enough to hold its own against char and dough and whatever is riding on top of it. The meatballs were sliced thin across the tomatoes and seasoned all the way to the center. That is rarer than it should be. Then there is the crust. The coal-fired oven runs somewhere above 650 degrees. The char on the edge is not decorative. It contributes a bitterness that cuts right through the acid in the tomatoes. They need each other. The leopard spots across the bottom of the pie tell you the heat and the timing were right. The crispness is structural. The chew underneath it is real. We also ordered the grilled chicken pie. Yes. At Frank Pepe's. The room has opinions and the room can have them. What I did not expect was for the chicken to be a genuine star. Not pulled, not scattered, not the afterthought that grilled chicken usually is on pizza. These were proper chunks, with intentional size, juicy in a way that should not survive a 650-degree coal oven but somehow did. Substantial. The kind of protein that makes you feel good, even though it's on a pizza. When I eat it, I feel like I'm taking vitamins. It tastes healthy. There is a lot of it. It is delicious. These three things rarely show up together on a pizza and Frank Pepe's managed all three without making it feel virtuous in the annoying way. It felt like a reward. Frank Pepe's in Warwick is not the original. Nothing will ever be the original. The original is on Wooster Street in a city that built its identity around this particular pizza and has been arguing about it for a hundred years. What the Warwick location is, is an honest attempt to bring the New Haven style here. The coal is real. The oven is real. The sauce is the sauce. The crust is the crust. Seven years of heat in those bricks doing the work that oven was built to do. Great room. Great service. Really great pizza. Old Reliable.

There was a wait of about 20 minutes and the wait for the pizza would have been another 30. There were about 2 waiters walking around that seemed slammed. I ended up leaving and returning later that night. I took the advice of one of the patrons from earlier and ordered online. I ordered a medium pizza with Pepperoni, Sausage and Bacon for $38!!!! When we arrived the pizza was ready so we sat down and ate as there was hardly anyone there the second time around closer to 9pm. The waitress was extremely nice. The pizza is beyond basic and I was highly disappointed. The pizza was unevenly cut and the toppings all just fell off the pizza. I needed a fork to eat the pizza. Sadly they didn't have any knives. The bacon was nonexistent. I couldn't believe I just wasted $40 on a circle of soup. I won't be returning. This place just isn't for me.
