Been getting cakes from here for years. Owned by an older couple, they are very nice! The cakes are good if you are used to Chinese type of sponge cakes. Unique taste, but over the years the fruit fillings have been less and less to where it's more cake and less fruit filling and they stopped the double fruit filling option and stopped putting extra almonds around the outside part of the cake, wish they would offer those options again. read more

Needed a last min bday cake, something small and different than any grocery store nearby. So what do I do? Look up Yelp and fresa bakery caught my eye, and decided to give it a try. Called bakery to ask if they had any available cakes for pickup and the owner politely informed me he'd set aside a cake for me for when I picked up same day. For $25 it was decently priced for a small round cake that would serve about 6-8 people. Taste, was delicious! Very different texture than any cake I've ever tried, I enjoyed the airy, lightweight texture, not dense and the delectable whipping was very refreshing and rich in flavor. This bakery strives for quality ingredients, strawberries were fresh without the syrupy glaze. Definitely recommend! read more

It was late Saturday afternoon and I was hoping to buy a Birthday Cake all the while kicking myself for being a procrastinator. I decided on buying a cake from Fresa Bakery while at work on my break I called at 1pm to order for 5 pm. Everything was set for pick up and ended up getting off early to make the 5 pm pick up. When I arrive the same lady that took my order over the phone says that she canceled my order since they do not take phone orders and my order was voided. Then I ask, well can I just take any cake that is ready or even purchase my original order. She said no and if I want a cake to come back tomorrow. Not very great customer service even when I placed an order at 1pm not even a curtesy call. She could have told me from the beginning they have not phone orders. So after procrastinating on ordering my son's birthday cake and being rejected by several bakeries because we showed up last minute (5 days prior to the event) we decided to give this place a chance after stumbling across it on yelp. We were about to ignore this place due to the lack of overall reviews that it had but at this point it was either Fresa bakery or a local grocery store. When we walked in my wife and I asked ourselves if we were making the right choice. The place was not aesthetically pleasing and was located in a hole in the wall plaza. Upon entering there was already a guest inside looking through the cake booklet. My wife and I were approached by a female that appeared to be in a bad mood. We let her know we were looking for a cake and that we needed it for that same weekend. She tried to help us but at the same time became very rude to the first guest that was there before us because she was just "looking." I felt bad for that guest because she did not receive welcoming service by the female. We weren't treated any better but our situation put us in a position not to be picky. To our surprise the price of the cake was very affordable and not over the top like some of the more popular bakeries in the AV. We ordered a tres leches cake with a simple cars and truck design and crossed our fingers that it would taste delicious. Fast forward to the weekend and we received our cake. It was just barely enough to feed the 25 guests on hand and 90% of them were requesting seconds. The cake was DELICIOUS. The frosting wasn't too over-bearing and it was the right amount of moist where it was enjoyable and not soggy. This is officially our new go-to spot for tres leches cakes and we highly recommend it! read more
