Recommend this place? Hell yeah! It's a wife & hubby duo who are friendly, straight forward & make amazing everything. We first walked into the shop to looking into a cake for my daughter's quince. Her whole thing was she wanted everything to be whimsy. We saw quickly we walked into the right place for that. The tasty treats behind the glass looked so fresh & whimsical. We showed Ania a picture of the cake my daughter had in mind & she said (straight forward), "Oo... that's a lot of hand drawing detail (see picture of example below)", & let me know what to expect price wise. She had cupcakes out of the flavors we're thinking of & we bought all 3, chocolate, vanilla, & strawberry (which is rare because it was the cake would be strawberry, not the filling), plus a Spider-Man pan Dulce/concha. My daughter ate the concha right there & was in love. She said it was the best concha she's ever had. We waited to eat them for after we ate dinner that day, but we didn't know until that night that we caught something from another family memeber. We weren't feeling well for a couple days, & never got to eat the fresh cupcakes. We HAD to go back because that concha was so good. We go back to the shop about a week later, this time with hubby. We bought the 3 cupcakes again, plus a red velvet and a carrot cake cupcake. We sampled all of them while we were still there. EVERYTHING tasted amazing. EVERYTHING! I love red velvet, but a lot of places make it too dry or something is off with the frosting & it doesn't turn out the best. Theirs is amazing! Just the right flavors of everything in it & perfect moistness. We couldn't wait to try the cake for my daughter's quince and knew the cake wouldn't necessarily look identical to the inspo picture, but were confident they'd decorate it beautifully. The picture we showed them had 4 tiers, but we only wanted 3. We chose the strawberry cake with Nutella filling, chocolate cake with cookies and cream filling, and the vanilla with Nutella filling also. Ania said "Trust me, I know strawberry with Nutella sounds strange, but it'll be great." So glad we trusted her. It was FIRE! The whole cake was gorgeous & tasted ridiculously amazing. So glad we found Mad Kakes! Thank you Ania & your husband (sorry I don't rember his name) for being a big part of making our daughter's day so special. That cake was all the whimsy she wanted & more. read more

One thing I do want to say is that they have great pastries. However, for anyone looking to book with them, just know that you really have to stay on top of them because their communication and follow up are not the best. I emailed and called multiple times and didn't receive a response until I continued following up. During my last phone call, I was told that they simply "forgot" about me. What was most disappointing was that there was no apology for their lack of service. It sucks because I really wanted to order a custom cake for my wedding and possibly look into other treats as well. Unfortunately, this experience made me decide to look elsewhere. I would recommend checking out other local bakeries that are more consistent with communication and follow up Definitely a missed opportunity for them. read more

I have tried this place twice now, I'm sorry to say that the cupcakes are nothing special, some were dry and the icing on some of them is dense and thick which I don't like and was disappointed with them for a second time. But the thing that is worth 10 stars surprisingly isn't a cake or cookie - it's their Banana Pudding! Price is kinda steep for $6 + tax a cup for pudding but I'd for sure come back for this, it's so good! read more

Never the type to actually write a review but I feel like this owner needs to know that what she did is not okay. Found this baker in Instagram and found her work great . I was excited. I emailed her, sent a picture and asked for a price quote and she promptly replied in minutes. She asked about the design and the number of servings I needed. I replied promptly as well and then that's it. SHE NEVER REPLIED EVER. Waited for days, even weeks trying to give the benefit of the doubt that the owner was probably too busy to message me back. After 9 days, I sent her another email asking for another qt for another design, pretending that she wasn't rude the first time.. and yes, still no reply whatsoever. Ania, I understand it is your right to choose which customers you'd like to cater your service to but PLEASE DO NOT BE RUDE. DO NOT BE UNPROFESSIONAL. EVEN IF YOU'RE A SMALL BUSINESS, ALL THE MORE SO you need to be courteous, polite and accomodating to small customers like me. Do NOT just NOT REPLY. If you choose to NOT give service to someone, thats okay. I understand that. I very much respect that. That is your right. BUT say NO in a proper way. Treat your customers equally. And Politely say no. Big and small customers. I'm sure you teach the same thing to your child how to say no IN A KIND AND PROPER MANNER. I hope next time you don't do the same. read more

Where do I start? Well look no further I promise you that maD Kakes is the best of the best in the Av. I swear to you that once you get a taste of that delicious cake, cake pops, cupcakes you can not stop. My husband is very picky with his food or dessert and let me tell you he kept on asking for more. Ania is the best! From the moment I contacted her to go over the details of the cake, right down to the pick up, she was awesome! Even though our cake was smaller in comparison to most of her work, she never made us feel less important or not worth her time. We sent her some pictures of some ideas for the cake and she NAILED IT. Now, let's get to the taste and quality of the cake. Hands down the best cake I've ever tasted. We ordered a strawberry marble with fresh strawberries and it's a good thing I cut small pieces because or guests were lining up for seconds! I definitely recommend Mad Kakes. You wont be disappointed! read more
