I love coming to Frenchys and have been doing so weekly for over 5 years. It's a relaxed environment where you can get anything done needed, from sugaring to mani/pedi to massage, but it's the owner and staff that make it so special. Much of staff has been there for years and years. Try the Frenchys manicure which has a great hot paraffin dip. Also their Barbour rich lotions and just their manicure process is very nice and a superb value in Seattle! The environment, decor, music, friendly staff, prices and all is great. This review is based only on the nail salon: I had heard so many amazing things about Frenchy's so I quickly booked two mani/pedi's there for my mom's birthday. Both of us were so excited to get our nails did, but the excitement was all for nothing. The most disgusting part of the journey was the trip from the pedi chairs (which are not your standard pedi chairs -- not that I love those ones that have the electric massage features but these chairs were not even comfortable). Basically after shaving the dead skin off my feet directly on to the carpeted floor and once my toenails were painted, the nail tech had me get up and walk over to the mani chairs WITHOUT any of those little shoes on. I asked her for those pedi shoes and they were all out and I was so disgusted as my newly cleaned feet, slick with lotion walked across the dead skin carpet -eewwwwwww!!!! I will never ever return to Frenchy's! Plus, after all of that it was incredibly overpriced. read more

The environment is very chic, and the gals at the front desk offer you drinks while you wait, but the manicure itself was nothing to gush about. Solid 3-star establishment. I'm a regular. I like the women at the front desk. (They did make a mistake with my appt reservation once, but offered a free add-on to my pedicure so that helped.) They can often accommodate last minute requests. I also like the atmosphere....truly girly. I'm surprised it's not cleaner--esp the pedicure area--given the price point and the clientele. Also, many of the nail technicians are the same ones from Hoa and the like. I thought the more one pays, the lower the language barrier is . . . My gal gave a mean (killer) foot and leg massage, but she wasn't real friendly until toward the end of the pedicure. She painted my toes well but didn't shape all of my toenails consistently. The process of picking out polish is unfriendly as there are several vertical rows of bottles, 3 deep, so you can't see the polishes in back row very well. The primary reason I won't be back is that the pedicure area was dirty, dingy and really beat up. There are stains and chips on the floors, counters, countertops, etc. The foot rest on the pedicure station is cracked all over. 5 stars for the half Armenian, half Russian aesthetician (she's been there for 15 years, I guess) who gave me a facial yesterday afternoon, which was hands down the best of my life (and I've been to some ritzy places - the Biltmore, Bacara spa in Santa Barbara, and others). The thing is, she's a natural and loves her craft -- and it shows. I arrived a little late (and profusely apologetic) but she didn't waste any time getting to business. Honestly I don't think 85% of aestheticians out there could have gotten as much done in that 50+ minute time frame as she did. Extractions - many and skilfully performed. Shoulder rub - check! Excellent enzymatic pumpkin mask - yeppers! LED treatment for my burgeoning wrinkles and "congestion" - yes!! I cannot recommend this facialist any more. I also can't recommend her by name since I don't know it. But the above clues should help in identifying her, should you be inspired to call in and see if I'm right. You won't be disappointed. On a side note, this was my first visit to Frenchy's (which has evidently recently completed a bit of a makeover/renovation) and I found it to be charming and girly and full of products that tickled my fancy. Well first of all Frenchy's is the best place to relax and get a mani or pedi. I go there all the time and always feel good after I leave. The front desk people are always helpful and ask if I would like a beverage like tea or water. Then I wait in the beautiful waiting room with nice beauty products and trinkets surrounding me. Occasionally you see brides running around for a last minute bachelorette party! It can get crazy so I will warn you now... :) They have an amazing selection of Essie and OPI nail polishes and use the best skin care lotions and potions. I love, love, love Frenchy's!!! Since I live in Puyallup, I only get up there twice a year, but the pedicures are totally worth the trip! My friend and I enjoy lounging in the oversized, couch-style seats, sipping on our coffee, while having leisurely conversation. The ladies who work there are friendly, but not obtrusive, which we really appreciate. Also, the price is very reasonable, and this is coming from a pretty frugal person. Another perk to going to Frenchy's is going a few doors down to Arosa Cafe, where you can get the world's best Swiss chocolate mocha (with actual choco shavings that have been melted into the milk). I love Frenchy's! I've had pedis there twice with a different staff member both times, and both were amazing. You get a leg massage, sugar scrub, paraffin dip, hot towels, and complimentary tea/water/coffee. The ladies will chat with you or leave you to read, depending on your preference. I don't do a lot to pamper myself, but a trip to Frenchy's is a definite MUST. I got a gift certificate from here and decided to use it to get a sorely needed pedicure. While more expensive than what I normally pay for pedicures, they really look after your feet, which is just what my winter cracked heels needed. I also liked that they carried Butter products, although I don't think they use Butter base / top coats which kind of defeats the purpose of going 3free. The reason for the 3 stars - while the chairs are comfy, their stations are dirty looking and messy - dead skin and nails everywhere. They also nipped too deep and my cut toe hurt for two days! While convenient to where I live, this won't be my regular nail place - maybe I will give it another go if my feet need the pampering in the future. read more

Booked a bachlotette party and 1 day before they tried to cancel 1 of the facials. Finally was able to get us in for a "45"min she told me but would only charge me $85. After the services they said they were going to charge us 18% gratuity fee THAT THEY NEVER TOLD US ABOUT. It only being a 30 min facial and charging me $90. Charging another girl $10 to remove shellac that she never had. It was not a wonderful experience by all means. I would have NEVER paid 90$ for 30 min facial. I live in the neighborhood, but somehow missed ever finding out about this place! Cute decor, relaxing ambiance, and very friendly staff! I met both the manager and the owner who were welcoming and genuinely helpful. Not only were they happy to donate to my non-profit organization, but they were very accommodating when I asked about having a spa day for my bridal party. They even have a private party room! I have REALLY tried to like this place. It is close to home and the decor is pleasant enough. The 6 times I have been in Frenchy's the noise level was too loud for me, too many people milling about waiting for chairs to open up, large groups whooping it up in the pedi chairs etc. Not the relaxing spa experience I enjoy. I will detail my last experience there 6 days ago. I scored a next day appointment with Queen for a fill. My appointment was very rushed. I pointed out a nail that was lifting and I felt needed replacement. Queen did not want to remove the nail. She sped through the shaping process and left low spots. She went through the motions with the cuticle pusher but on two nails she never came in contact with the cuticle. It was surreal to watch her hand go through the motions but the implement wasn't making any contact, just air. I was hurried off the chair with wet nails and that seemed to be indicative of the whole experience. Low and behold 4 days later the suspect nail fell off... who could've figured?! (I went to Hoa to have my fill and missing nail repaired) I did have a marvelous massage this summer and I would heartily recommend that service. The massage rooms are away from the carnival environment of the mani/pedi parlor. Better than any surf-side vacation massage I've ever received. read more

Frenchy's has been a part of Madison Park for a long time and I first discovered it years ago through getting pedi's on a girl's afternoon. It was time to revisit this adorable establishment and get a facial. My treatment was done by their esthetician Tie and she was wonderful! Very warm and friendly and not too chatty, so I was able to fully relax and enjoy my time. Tie had a very soft touch, but her massage technique had the right amount of pressure to release tension in my shoulders, arms and hands. This was a real treat and my skin was glowing for days after. P.S. this place gets packed in the main nail area on the weekends and looks a little chaotic, but once you go into the SPA area it's very serene and relaxing. I've been here at least a dozen times over the past 2 years, but only because of Alicia who does a fantastic job in waxing and facials, and because I live 10 minutes away. From the moment you walk in, it is a chaotic, party atmosphere and quite noisy. Mixed in between the pedicure stations in back, and manicure stations in the middle are tables of jewelry, lingerie, skin care products, and other random things. Many of the pedicurists, who are Russian speaking have been there since they opened more than 15 years ago. If you're an extrovert and like a chatty social scene for spa services, this is it. If you prefer a tranquil and relaxing place, I'd recommend Truce on the Eastside or the Nordstrom Spa downtown. read more

Well, you would be disappointed if you go there, very dirty, looks like a 90s clothes store, the main employers doing nothing, and they try so hard to look fancy to charge a lot. The Vietnamese girls who attended me had a bad personal hygiene, if you are going to hire someone to work for you in a "fancy place" ask that person to look nice and presentable. Uh oh Frenchy's got new owners and it looks like they aren't minding their business! I've been going here for a long time, as have most of their customers. Went in for a mani pedi it was fine but they had a new system and didn't know who I was, needed all my info again. While I was having my service I watched a few long time customers get very angry when their services were incorrectly booked. One of the new owners was sitting right there not saying a word she also wasn't very friendly when I walked in. All I have to say is, they're going to want to hang onto these longtime customers so they might want to be a bit more friendly, warm, welcoming, and appreciative going forward. read more

I set up a group appointment this past weekend for my friend's bridal shower/bachelorette. I made the appointment months ago, specified with each girl's name and the services she was getting. Somehow they still got all confused and ended up calling my name for just about every appointment leaving it to me to sort things out and remember who had which services booked. I kind of thought that was part of what we were paying them for... at one point an employee actually handed the schedule (complete with all of our names and appointments) to one of the girls in our party and told her to figure out where she was supposed to be. I thought my manicure was super rushed, the girl pushed me out of the chair before even giving my nails a minute to dry. She told me I could share a fan with another girl even though there was only one chair at that location. My massage was scheduled for after my manicure which meant I had to wait around for about an hour before my nails were dry enough to make that feasible. The plus side of this place is it has cute decor and they provide champagne glasses. Aside from that I found the experience pretty unprofessional and rude (a few of the girls were scolded for not already having polish picked out as they were rushed to their appointment). read more

Frenchy's used to be my favorite place to splurge on a quality pedicure. Unfortunately their quality has really gone downhill. I was in a couple weeks ago for a birthday pedicure and the service I received was awful. The pedicurist acted like she was doing me a favor by doing my nails. It was obvious she just wanted to get me out of there. The "massage" portion of the pedicure was weak, she just kept on lightly run her hands up and down my calves, and kept stopping for long periods of time to chit chat with her co-workers. For the amount you pay for a pedicure here, you would expect to receive a quality service. I was so disappointed. It was worse than one of those super cheap nail places off the highway in Renton. Really upset about my most recent experience here. I left with a chunk out of my left brow, my normally long arc truncated at the end, my brows look uneven and and there was still wax stuck in them when I got home. My brows are kind of my thing so this is pretty disappointing. I'm not sure who did them but it was not Alicia because she does not work at Frenchy's anymore. My wife just left their shop. The lady in charge was not courteous, and the services rendered fell short of my wife's expectations. We ordered the Parisian facial and a 30-min massage. Massage went okay, but the facial was somewhat rushed and did not reflect the description available on their website. More specifically, they did not perform a hot foot massage nor a lime scalp treatment, both of which are clearly written as part of the package. I suppose we could live with that. A sacred principle of capitalism is that a customer should not get less than what they paid for. If it happens, you will never see their money again. Or that of their friends. Or anyone who reads this review. Masseuse was professional, customer service sucked. I will only recommend to someone who has low expectations. read more

I totally just stared, admiringly, at my nails before writing this. We made an appointment for 2pm on Saturday to come in for three pedicures and one manicure. We arrived early and got to take in all that this spa has to offer. Ie the many shelves around the shop, lined with everything from underwear to facial cream. This is a nice touch, especially considering the shop appeared to be very busy and there is limited seating for while you wait. We brought wine and chocolates with us and they nicely provided us with wine glasses so we could enjoy during our visit. We were called for our appointment and unfortunately I was the person who chose to get a manicure instead of pedicure. I was seated at a station clear across the spa and so there was no chance of enjoying the spa experience with my group. Sad. I did notice that there are only six chairs for pedicures and they are split in to groups of three, with a wall in between. I'm guessing we would have been split up either way. My esthetician was very nice, though definitely not chatty at all. There is a little menu of options at each station and I was pleased to see that a service that would normally cost $50+ in Vancouver, was only $25. I chose the Frenchys Manicure, which included a paraffin dip. My nails were nicely prepared, though I noticed that previously-used nail files/buffers were used on me. I'm not such a fan of that as it's totally unsanitary. When it came to applying lotion to my hands, I requested that she not put lotion on my arms as it super creeps me out. I got a nod and then a giant amount was slopped on to my arms and worked in. Fail. The polish was added and I was quickly done. 25 minutes is pretty well exactly how long you get as I was then ushered out of my seat so they could work on the next person. Pedicures take much longer than basic manicures and so I was left waiting for around 20 minutes. The price was right and the space is beautiful. It appears to be a popular spot for large groups and so make sure you make an appointment. I'm undecided if I would recommend here based on my experience. A low price doesn't cancel out unsanitary practices and gross hand lotion. read more

Absolutely the best spa in Seattle!!! It was also rated top spa in Seattle in this past month's InStyle magazine! The girls at the front desk are incredibly helpful and accommodating every time I call. The owner is far and away one of the most sincere and sweetest woman I have met who goes out of her way to make sure her clients are happy. Every treatment I have gotten has been fabulous. I highly recommend any of the manicures, pedicures, facials and massages. Waxing is great too! It is a cute and relaxed environment that is also perfect for parties! Completely reasonable prices. The front desk staff offered a tepid apology and a modest discount on my next service, but offered no alternative times or suggestions to make this right. They issued a refund but didn't apologize until I sent a complaint via email and even then manager could hardly utter an apology. A very expensive, mediocre pedicure. I decided on Frenchy's Day Spa because I was looking for a top-of-the-line, organic, relaxing pedicure to treat my mother and myself to while I was 7 months pregnant. It was a mistake. The receptionists were not welcoming and I had to ask twice for a place to hang our coats. The place smelled horribly of chemicals and only had a small selection of "organic" nail polishes to choose from. The ladies that did our nails were really nice but very chatty and so sad. Somehow we ended up talking about all the people in their families that died in horrible ways. It was like a nightmare. I left with scrapes all over the tops of my toes from the file missing my nail and hitting my skin. My mother left without her coat and when we went back in to get it the receptionist made us wait 5 minutes before helping us. In short, it wasn't comfortable, relaxing, or organic. It was something I'd expect to pay $12 for - not $65. Never again. read more

I went with a group of girlfriends to Frenchy's to get manicures and it was the low spot in an otherwise great day. The manicure was rushed and the quality was horrid! The technician was rude and rushed through the manicure: neglecting to remove the wax from my hands after the paraffin dip and when she painted my nails she missed parts. The best part is that they have you hold your hands in front of a fan to dry them. Hmmm what happens to nail polish when you apply forced air? A terrible manicure with a rippled wind tunnel finish. I have been to Frenchy's several times for manicures and pedicures. After several mediocre services and interactions with unfriendly, very pretentious desk staff, I have decided never to return. Sad especially because I live in Madison Park and love that I can walk there. On my last visit I was seated next to a woman that carried on a conversation on her cell phone throughout my entire visit. Her conversation was an angry one, she used foul language throughout and raised her voice several times. At no time in my 1 hour there was this woman asked to get off of her cell phone, lower her voice, or stop using foul language. I just had the worst first impression/first experience at Frenchy's Day Spa. I called and scheduled an appointment for their Cure Detox Facial. I was very clear on the phone that is what I wanted. I arrived early to fill out paperwork and the spa was so crowded both from everyone getting their nails done to people lined up at the counter. Once I finally made it to the counter, the girl who checked me in was super scattered. Asked me three times what I wanted to drink and I had to ask her to get me the paperwork. Once I got it all filled out and handed back, within minutes the chick doing my facial showed up and I was expecting to be taken somewhere tranquil to get my facial done. Nope. She took me to a room just beside the pedicure stations that were all full of women gabbing, who I could hear through the door. The lighting was harsh, and the energy was bad. I should have walked out right there. But here's where it really starts to suck. The esthetician wanted to know all about my skin. I had already answered all of those questions in the paperwork. She told me we needed to talk about my skin so she could figure out the right facial for me. I said I wanted the cure detox facial and she started sifting through all of these pieces of paper, which was odd. She finally pulls one out, sets it on the counter and tells me to get undressed and into the table. I did as she asked, the whole time listening to the ladies outside the whole time. I get into the bed and there's no way to relax. The chick comes back in and spends the next what felt like forever getting everything together for my facial. Once she finally got around to doing anything she washed her hands first. Her hands were like ice when she touched my shoulder and my face. Amd she kept moving that piece of paper around and I realized she was reading and following instructions from the paper on what to do for this facial. Definitely felt like she didn't know what she was doing. The details of the facial are mundane and went by quickly. I didn't feel detoxed or cured at all. My pores and face feel exactly as they did when I went in there. I'm very disappointed with the whole experience. And all this inexperienced quick facial where the majority of the time the esthetician was referencing her paperwork, running to the sink to get things wet and mixing products was not even close to worth to the $140 it cost me. And when I checked out and the girl asked how it was and I told her it was disappointing and my skin feels no different, she said I should have told the esthetician that as she quickly swiped my card. Yeah, for the first time in my life I didn't leave a tip, but this service and experience didn't warrant one. I am sad that this is the spa in my neighborhood and that I wasted my Christmas present money to myself on this spa treatment. I will go back to my regular spa in West Seattle, because I'd rather that commute and traffic than to ever go back to Frenchy's. read more

I could give this 4 stars, but I'm not as comfy sitting in the waiting area because of the sometimes pushy make-up people. Now I check-in & head for the other side of the room to browse the boutique jewelry/body products until my name is called. It's a cute little shop/spa w/ some cute girlie products/gifts - I almost always end up buying myself a little something or find a great gift for a friend while I'm there. My manicures & pedicures always last & look great. Sitting on a comfy couch for an hour while having feet/legs massaged, reading a gossip magazine, sipping champagne (bring your own) w/ a girlfriend is my idea of the best pedi. However - back to the waiting part - if you want to go sit for a while before hopping in the car & ruining your nails, you have to wait over by the make-up people. read more
