This is a great place to go while in McCall! Family owned people are great and very informative. You order at the counter and they do serve specials daily but after 5. I had this visit a po-boy shrimp sandwich and a cup of tomato bisque soup. Sandwich was a bit dry and needed some mayonnaise or??? But tasted good. Soup was homemade and amazing! Back again after a few years and still, this place will blow your socks off. The chowder is to die for. Amazing southern flavor and perfect on a winter day. The French fries are like beer battered or something, crunchy and perfect. Where do I even start with their bread pudding. Talk about delicious, this stuff had me thinking about it for 2 years. Came back and it didn't disappoint. They change the flavor of the bread pudding depending on the day. It's a must to go back and try what flavor they have. read more

Cute little place in the heart of McCall. I would recommend everything we ordered except maybe the chowder (just wasn't my cup of tea). The duck had a nice crisp and was flavorful (a lil on the sweet side). The tots were perfectly fried, the ceasar salad did not disappoint. The gumbo was probably my favorite of the meal. This restaurant is within walking distance of many locations in downtown McCall. They also have a nice seasonal outdoor seating area that is usually packed. I've only eaten there twice thus far, but I can see why it's so popular! My shrimp Po' Boys have been perfection. The shrimp were perfectly cooked, plump and tender. The batter they were fried in was good too. It all came packaged on a thick French roll with a tasty Cajun mayo, pickles, and shredded lettuce. The Caesar Salad was unremarkable, but at least the lettuce was fresh and crisp. I'll be back for more soon! read more

Frenchies is a cross between a sit down restaurant and counter service restaurant. Food is ordered at the counter, and then if you're lucky enough to score a table you can sit down and eat, but eat fast, as tables are hard to come by. The line ran almost out the door on a Wednesday! For a mountain town, the prices were reasonable. I ordered the special: crawfish tacos served with sweet potato fries. For about $18 my meal included 2 medium sized soft flour tortillas, breaded and fried bites of crawfish, topped with a pineapple cilantro salsa and a drizzle of sauce. The crawfish bits were fried golden and were still tender inside. The breading was simply seasoned. The salsa was fresh tasting and not overly sweet for having pineapple in it. The drizzle of sauce didnt do much, as it tasted like fry sauce, and I would have liked more of a cajun flavor with a touch of heat, luckily they had hot sauce at the table to spice it up. The sweet potato fries were disappointing: cold and limp, but had they been freshly fried would have been good as the flavor was good. Staff was friendly and helpful, and food came out quick despite how packed they were. Great little joint! read more

Cozy atmosphere, excellent service & yummy food! The food is delicious, I had the BLT po boy + tots. It was very bacony, and lacking on lettuce & tomatoes, double that with some vodoo Mayo and it would have hit the spot. My partners chicken fry Po Boy was delicious. I would definitely give this spot another try but didn't love my Po Boy. read more

Ordered the shrimp poboy and some gumbo. I was excited and to be honest it was pretty good. I have been to nolo. I have had the best nobody else does it as good as that and that is sad. This place cooked the shrimp well. Shredded the Lettuce. Had a dressing (hint use a remoulard sauce). You can leave the tomatoe out. But you fall short on the bread. It needs the French bread crunchy crust soft inside. All these people that say "oh this is great just like new orleans" are wrong. It's close but not perfect. ALSO a light toasting would help. The gumbo was like a gravy deal. Make your rue use butter. It doesn't have to be so thick. read more

We stopped by Frenchie's for take-out on our trip up to the mountains this Spring. We tried the shrimp and chips, gumbo, cheese curds and kids popcorn chicken. Hard pass on the popcorn chicken- tasted pre-made and frozen and was an odd texture. My daughter wouldn't eat it and she normally loves chicken nuggets. The cheese curds were a big hit with everyone- lightly breaded and a good flavor- would get those again. The shrimp and chips was a little pricey ($14) for just a handful of breaded jumbo shrimp (5-6?) that we're yummy but we felt a bit expensive for the amount in the meal. The gumbo was great- not too spicy but definitely flavorful. We actually went back by just to get more gumbo! I'd recommend trying this place out, a unique menu for the area! read more

Tried some blackened shrimp (6ish) and fried chicken and was overall a decent meal. Both came with mac and cheese and green beans. The blackened shrimp was probably the better part of the meal, albeit moderately flavorless, and the fried chicken was sadly a bit dry though generous in quantity. The mac and cheese was decent, a pale yellow that was incredibly thick but nothing amazing, and same goes for the green beans that were without any seasoning or real flavor. Overall, don't think I'll be back to this place as the food was just ok. read more
