Came here for brunch with my mom last weekend for her birthday and we had a solid experience! We both ordered the eggs benedict but my mom went with the potato pancake (basically a hash brown cake) while I went with the grits. The grits in particular were excellent! My mom liked her potatoes but she did say she was a little jealous of the grits and took a few forkfuls from me. The benedict was also very good, served on a biscuit rather than the traditional english muffin, which I liked very much. Mine was a little light on the hollandaise so I would ask for a bit more of that next time. I also had an iced frozen latte which was quite good! Like many folks right now we're avoiding raw mixed greens so we both skipped those with our meals but even without it was still plenty of food. We also ordered beignets, a mix of powdered sugar and cinnamon sugar, with chocolate and foster's sauce (caramel) on the side. To me the beignets read more like a popover than a beignet but they were still good. Loved that they came warm and the foster's sauce was really nice! Our server was awesome and checked in on us regularly. Food came quickly, too. We did have to wait about 30 minutes for a table but it wasn't too bad and they'll take your number so you don't have to stay too close if you'd prefer to wait in your car (not much else to do around there, unless you're feeling like browsing Office Max next door). I ordered the Jerk Wings, they were good but the sauce was more of a habanero spice that was too spicy for me. I've been to the French Toast Bistro location in Plymouth more times than I can count - even before it became a brunch place solely. The Canton restaurant is newer but just as popular. There was a long line of customers, but the wait was tolerable, barely 10 minutes. The restaurant is much larger and brighter; the large windows allow in more light. Service was quick, allowing more customers to be served. My rule for dining out is to select dishes I don't make well at home due to a lack of skill or ingredients. So here, it meant a lobster omelette and pancakes. Yes, I'm a failure with pancakes, despite the numerous, numerous times I've attempted them. One, I rarely keep milk at home, and two, my pancakes tend to burn. Sigh. The pancakes here are fluffy and delicious. I even liked the fake, thick pancake syrup served here. Food was amazing! I came the Saturday before Mother's Day so you can imagine how hectic it was. We waited about 45 min to an hour for our table and to me it was well worth the wait. They gave us these complimentary beignets as it was my first time here and it DID NOT disappoint. I'm still thinking about them. For an appetizer, we had the creole board which came with fried green tomatoes and fried shrimp, they were fresh out the pan (almost burned myself so be careful). I ordered the braised short rib and the amount of food they provide is great. Combined with the grits - it's really good. Only thing I would do is make brussel sprouts crunchier and lightly seasoned as it wasn't much flavor there. We've gone twice now and it's a very cute spot with a tasty looking menu. That said the servers are very nice, but the service is really slow. The first time we had an older server so we didn't think much of it. However then I noticed that a coworker came in after I did and was also served their food before ours came out - and I only ordered beignets and coffee! We went back again today for our 28th anniversary brunch, and there was a 30 minute wait. I got a text once our table was ready, and from the time we were seated to the time we got our food, it was 47 minutes My food was okay, but my husband didn't enjoy his steak fajitas omelette. It was cooked too long, the steak pieces were too big for an omelette, and it wasn't seasoned or grilled. He said "The fajitas weren't fajita'ed" which of course made me not enjoy my meal as much. We'd probably go back another time since it's a cool spot with reasonable prices, but will definitely need to have a snack or something since it takes a while to get your food. read more

Stopped by French Toast this morning for Breakfast and had a lovely experience. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and sat right away. Our server Lauryn was fantastic. She came right over answered our questions. The service was quick. The menu is brunch menu so there is something for everyone. It's so cute inside with lights and decorations. It's very clean and spacious. I thought it would be fitting to order French Toast since that's the name of restaurant. It's was good, the bread seemed a little hard on the edges but it was so good and our server was so great I'm still giving 5 stars. I just love the name of this bistro, French Toast. This modern eatery occupies a corner section of another business. The outdoor patio is clearly visible and inviting. Not today, though, as the weather is cold. As I'm walking to the door, I notice the adorable decor which continues inside. The open concept is welcoming, and the serene ambiance is perfect for any meal. The waitress Lauryn is remarkable. She was very knowledgeable, paid attention to detail, and produced a positive attitude. This made my experience that much better! Thank you, Lauryn. The food presentation was so refined. It almost didn't look real.The food was fresh and had superb flavor. The Baked French Toast was delicious and infact the best I've ever seen. Kudos to the chef!! Also, eggs, bacon, potatoes, pancakes, and a biscuit were a favorite. The bacon was thick, and the biscuit was fresh and soft. The scrambled eggs had a buttery taste, not a huge fan but edible. The potatoe pancake was incredible with many flavors (my fav), and I was drawn in by the appearance. The coffee was a little bitter for me, and the mimosas hit the spot. Perfect size and appeal! I would definitely eat here again based on the customer service and the food presentation and quality. Very reasonable prices and good portion sizes. I had High Expectations as I have experienced Excellent Food and Service at the Plymouth location which has been my go to whenever I have visitors or want a reliable place to take a friend... I visited the Ford Rd Canton location and did not have the best experience the first time, but I thought it was maybe a fluke so I returned for another visit. I was equally as disappointed the second time. Arrived just after they opened. The room itself was dirty with handprints on the front doors, Windows and ledges smudgy, and the floor had food and papers around the entire room. There was no one at the hostess station for several minutes. I ordered a Benedict with the greens and grits. The greens were Wilted and rotting, same as my first experience; the grits were cold and overall the eggs had an unpleasant rancid oily taste. My Friends breakfast had that same rancid oily taste in her entire breakfast, so we mentioned it to the waitress who sent the Manager I'm assuming over who tried to tell us that the food was not made in oil. They did remake her food, but it came back tasting exactly the same and she could not eat her breakfast. The waitress was excellent and it wasn't her fault, but she was very apologetic. The manager didn't offer any compensation or an apology, only tried to justify how we were wrong. The Canton location is not comparable to the Plymouth location, and in my opinion tarnishes the French Toast Bistro name. As long-standing faithful FTB customer I was disappointed Both visits. Neither my friend nor I will be back to this location. read more

The potato pancake was not hot and so overcooked that it was hard to cut. The biscuit was also cool but the omelette was hot. The worst part was our server. Took forever for her to come to the table but when she finally did we ordered everything at once. It took forever for her to bring my coffee and our water, she was too busy counting her tip money. This past weekend was my third visit. I had the fish and chips. The fish was flaky, tender, and delicious. The breading was spicy (in a very good way!), but the difference between a good and great fish & chips is whether the breading is soggy/soft or whether there is a crunch when you bite into it. This was soggy and soft - my guess is that they are using the same medium-temperature oil for the French fries and the fish & chips, and it's not nearly hot enough to make a great crunchy fish & chips. The cole slaw was too dry - it needed more sauce or vinegar or mustard or something; it tasted like it had sat and dried out in a fridge for a week or so. On previous visits, I had better overall meals - the cajun hash and the chicken & waffles were both fantastic. My companions on Saturday's visit had bananas foster and berries pancakes, a cheeseburger, and a short rib and grits meal that everyone loved, so I guess my advice would be to avoid the fish & chips unless you like soggy breading, and the ambience and service is always great! I will be back. Note: they have stopped doing dinner as of earlier this year, so it's just a breakfast/brunch/lunch restaurant that closes by 4pm every day. I enjoyed my pineapple mimosa and the Blackened Salmon entree with spinach and white cheddar grits. The salmon was tender, and the spinach was well-flavored with spice. The creamy and cheesy grits are perfection. Both locations offer delicious Cajun-inspired brunch items. They serve more a brunch and dinner than breakfast specials. you are paying dinner prices, just for the both of us it was $65 for breakfast, between the whole group we spent $300! A bit more expenses than what you really get on your plate.
