My experience at First Watch was a bit of a mixed bag. The Strawberry Tres Leches French Toast was delicious and definitely the highlight of my meal. Unfortunately, the Morning Meditation was not good at all. It mostly tasted like sour lemon and was extremely bitter. I'm wondering if the orange was left out, because it definitely didn't taste balanced. I might give First Watch another try since they have quite a few other items that look really good. My only other concern is that some of the portions seem a little small for the prices. Overall, there were some positives, but it wasn't a completely consistent experience. read more

Very clean. Fast, friendly service and sitting up at the bar was fun. It's also a quieter spot. Food was good - and good enough to come back to if suggested. I went to a location in Florida and was extreamly disappointed but the Canton location redeemed the restaurant for me. Mimosa is made with Barefoot sparkling wine. read more

First Watch was good! I ordered the Avocado Toast, which came as one slice of toast cut in half with two eggs. It tasted fresh, but I did feel it was a bit pricey (around $13-$14) considering there weren't any extra toppings or sides included. I also tried the biscuits and gravy, the biscuit was super light and fluffy, absolutely delicious. The gravy, however, was a little too peppery for my taste, though I know a lot of people enjoy that flavor profile. The wait was surprisingly quick. I checked in through the app, and by the time I officially checked in at the restaurant, I was 6th in line. Within about five minutes, my table was ready, which was great. This was our 1st timing to First Watch in Canton and the food definitely didn't disappoint! It wasn't crowded which helped a lot and it was closer to closing time! We arrived around 1pm and they started shutting things down around 2:30pm! Our server was pleasant and attentive until close to us leaving and my friend had to go and ask for a container to take home her food! Now our food was really good, I ordered the Trifecta Breakfast with 2 eggs over medium, chicken sausage and a multi grain pancake! My friend ordered a Turkey Club with potatoes!! We never got water but my friend ordered decaf tea and I ordered the Kale Tonic which was really tasty!! The ambiance is ok! Cute breakfast chain with several options including special menu items that rotate. We shared the carne asada breakfast tacos (seasonal special), biscuits and gravy meal made with turkey sausage, and the Belgian waffle. Everything was delicious! They do have real maple syrup available (for an extra cost). We both ordered coffee so they left a carafe at our table, which is nice when wanting a refill. I wish the chain would offer more gf options like many of the other breakfast places (that aren't just eggs) and that they wouldn't charge extra for real syrup. They offer dining inside, on an enclose patio or outside if you choose. It's great if you have a pet. You can enter and exit from the outside patio. I enjoy it here...the food, the ambiance, the service...the whole experience. It's consistent. I know what I'm going to get. It's fresh, real, flavorful food. The pancakes are so large, they can definitely be shared/spilt. The fresh juice is also amazing! They have a good-sized menu so it isn't overwhelming but there's still a good amount of options to choose from. I still haven't tried everything on the menu. And I believe they have seasonal dishes as well so the options are always the same. The staff at this location are also quite friendly and attentive. I also like that they have the option to sit in the inside patio section. There usually is a wait, especially on the weekends so adding yourself to the waitlist ahead of time will save time. I've been to First Watch on 3 different occasions. It's not a bad place to get breakfast, but after multiple trips here I don't really find it to be all that special. The menu has some good stuff but the portions don't always justify some of the prices. The staff and dining area have always been consistently good. Even this healthy breakfast option that included egg whites, sauteed veggies and some tomato slices didn't really satisfy or feel special in any way. This was a very disappointing visit to First Watch. I should have taken a picture of my food. The frittata was filled with a glob of onions and whole unchopped mushrooms and on top of that it was burnt. The million-dollar bacon was reheated, and the Belgian waffle was lukewarm so the butter did not melt. I'm not saying don't go here, but I do believe they could've done better. read more

The farmhouse skillet hash has everything you could want for breakfast - eggs, bacon, potatoes, cheese, toast etc. nothing tasted overly seasoned or oily. This my second time trying first watch and I will have to say not much has changed. The food isn't that good to me. It's very average and a little expensive for no reason. The pancake was very dry, the scrambled eggs were cooked way too hard. The potatoes were hard and burnt. I wanted to just try give them another try going just on my own but I won't go back unless with a group of friends the service is okay took about 8 minutes before she came over to visit us and asked what we wanted to drink besides water. It's rustic feel inside this restaurant. If you want to give them a try I would just be aware that is average food but nothing can beat making memories with family and friends. read more

This restaurant is quite far from where I live, but I was visiting a friend who lives in Canton and she's not the cook in our friend group so we decided to grab some brunch here and we were not disappointed! This location is struggling with kitchen folks. Hubby and I came here about 10 days ago and my hash was ordered "without dairy" but still has cheese in it. Today, my hash was brought out incorrectly again - besides not eating dairy, I cannot eat eggs either so I asked for them to be on a separate plate as hubby or son would eat them. The eggs were on top of the hash and when I pointed out the error, somebody in the kitchen slid the eggs to another plate, breaking the yolks. The hash also was supposed to include avocado and that was omitted. Hubby and son ordered pancakes and they were just barely warm, let alone hot. The server was there when hubby said pancakes were lukewarm but said he would eat them as is. Server did not tell manager or manager failed to come by the just check in - which would have been nice given the issues we had. I give up on this location. Side note - I cannot tolerate dairy or eggs at all so when I mention this to the server, I do expect that the kitchen to get it correct. read more

I feel compelled to leave a second review, at our second visit to First Watch went much better than the first. I don't know if all of the wait staff had improved, but Angela is phenomenal. If there is one thing I'd change, it would be the check out process. First of all, it's a bit unusual to have walk up check out registers in higher end restaurants, and with what First Watch charges for their food, I'd call this a higher end breakfast/brunch place. When you add to this that there is one small cash wrap that's used both to take names and check in people from the wait list and to check out paying customers, the front of the restaurant becomes so congested that people are lined up in front of the three front tables, with people trying to enjoy their food and conversation at their table in peace. (Now add to that the fluctuation in numbers of COVID cases in MI and the need for continued social distancing, they should, at least temporarily, take your check up for you.) Fortunately, this time around our food came out warm and cooked properly (a little snafu, but not a big deal). They didn't have the amazing seasonal carnitas breakfast burrito I got my first time here, so I ordered a chickichanga. It didn't even come close to comparing. They should DEFINITELY make the carnitas breakfast burrito a staple, and put the chickichanga on as a seasonal. (I wouldn't order it again though, personally. Not bad--just not my cup of tea.) My husband's eggs were almost done to his liking, and his biscuits and gravy were good. SUCH a better experience than our last two visits! Like I said, service was excellent.
