This bank & this branch specifically is fantastic. I only wish I could give 10 stars instead of only 5. The level of customer service I received from both Gary and Gina at this branch was of a caliber I would only anticipate being able to access with extraordinary dollar volumes. They offered me the kind of personal care, attention and genuine concrete help that even the most prestigious banking client would be happy to pay for. Both Gary and Gina went above and beyond to make sure I was able to close on an out of state property in a timely fashion. Due to errors on my end, the funds were not scheduled to be available until a week after the scheduled close. But thanks to the pro-active follow-up of both Gary & Gina in manually coordinating efforts with their back office and the institution from where the funds were coming from, the funds were released so that I was able to close timely. I made the mistake of trusting Fremont Bank for personal savings. Several staff told me I qualified for a promotional interest rate and then strung me along for weeks as I opened and funded an account. A week later a banker informed me she had finally applied the interest rate, but the following week, still no rate and I was left calling in again to get information. The banker finally called and informed me I never qualified for the promotional rate. No apology, no we made a mistake, just go bank somewhere else. A follow-up complaint to a manager produced no result. This combination of sloppy work and miserable customer service has caused me mainly great frustration, but for others it could be financially costly. read more

Can you imagine emailing your Wealth advisor and it takes him 2+ weeks to get back to you. But we also put in phone calls on this very important matter and never got a call back. Absolutely terrible experience from the start. Opened a business account. They held a CASHIER'S CHECK for 15 days. After talking to several people thinking they would be reasonable about the excessive hold time on a cashiers check not only did they simply refuse but I was questioned as to what I needed MY MONEY for. Seriously? I have to justify to my bank what I need to spend MY MONEY on? Wrote my first check from the account, to myself, for over $2000 with plenty of available funds to cover it. Deposited in my personal account at another bank. No issue. Less than two weeks later I do the exact same thing, deposit into the same personal account, for less than half the amount. Again with more than enough available funds in the account and they REJECT the check because I was wasn't available to verify I wrote it when they called that afternoon. Hello!? I didn't get the message until the end of the day. There appears to be no logical explanation to not honor a check I wrote to MYSELF just like the previous one. Am I supposed to call each time I write a check to give them a heads up first? Should I clear my appointments so I can be on standby in case they call to question a transaction? Who's got time for that? My recommendation... Don't walk.. RUN to another bank. read more

We had so many issues - especially towards the end of the closing process, it was very disappointing. I honestly hope that our experience was a one-off exception and not the norm. I'll start with, we chose Fremont Bank for the purchase an investment property. We chose Fremont Bank for this purchase as they specialize in investment loans. The process seemed to start of smooth and initially we were pleased. We started our pre-approval process in mid-June. Marlo, our Loan Agent was pleasant and sent us what we needed to get started. My husband, with us just having gone through this process a year ago, had all the needed documentation ready so he was able to immediately upload it per her instructions. The issues started once the Loan Processor, Jeanine got involved. We should have seen this coming as when Jeanine sent her introductory email to us, she asked us to upload all of the various documents that they needed. Had she checked the file before introducing herself, she would have seen that ALL of the required documents had already been uploaded. - Communication was horrible - reaching Jeanine on the phone was virtually impossible. We would call, leave messages, and send emails asking for calls back and never get a call back. My husband and I had to chase down, follow-up, and request status updates throughout the entire process. - Our names were spelled wrong more than once (my middle name, then our last name). - Neither Jeanine nor Marlo ever reached out to advise or discuss us sending out our closing costs. We were scheduled to close on 7/24. On 7/22 we reached out (via phone and email), asking Jeanine to confirm the amount we needed to send. We had received the pre-closing document and wanted to confirm that the amount listed was correct. Jeanine told us (via an email) to ask the Title company. I called the title company who advised us that they hadn't received the loan docs so they couldn't advise on the closing costs. I reached back out to Jeanine on this (in my email specifically asked to her call me TWICE). She never called. She finally sent an email stating, "Yes, confirmed to use that amount. I am on a call until 10:30". She still never called. - 7/23 at 9:13am I called and sent an email to both Marlo and Jeanine asking for an update as I had called the title company and they advised me that they had not seen the documents. NO ONE CALLED. At 11:10am Jeanine emailed and advised, "The loan is final approved and we will be working on getting the loan documents over to title today". Then at 1:11pm, Jeanine sent an email requesting a form to be signed that they forgot to send over previously. I checked with our title company a little later and they advised that they still had not seen documents. When I inquired on this Jeanine replied in an email: "As I said previously - we are working on getting the loan documents out. When received THEY will reach out to you" - We were supposed to close on Friday, 7/24 and docs weren't sent to title until late Thursday afternoon. We signed on Saturday and were told that we would close Monday. - Monday came around and surprise - there was an issue of some missing HOA documents which delayed funding. The title company said they were the responsibility of the Bank and the bank said they were the responsibility of Title. Finally, our Real Estate Agent had to send details over on how to get the documents. (During the escrow process, our Realtor had to send documents or details on how to get documents more than once). At the end of the day, we did not end up closing until Wednesday afternoon, 7/29. Did I mention that Fremont Bank reached out to our Insurance and activated the policy on the property on Monday, 7/27? Our biggest issue is the lack of communication. We would call, leave messages and follow up with emails - all specifically asking for a call back, and would NOT get a call back. I do not understand why it was so difficult to reach Jeanine on the phone or actually get a phone call back. I understand she needs to track things in writing with email and that is fine - she could easily call then send a follow up email summarizing the conversation to keep it all in writing. If she would have at least returned phone calls and kept us up to date on what was going on, I think the majority of these issues could have been mitigated. Not being able to reach her, not getting calls back - especially when we very specifically asked to be called back, and not being kept up-to-date until there was a problem made the issues much worse and more than frustrating. I would like to give a positive shout out and THANK YOU to Assistant Bank Manager, Elena Silva, who when I was finally at my wits end and called the bank, actually answered the phone, called back AND followed up. read more

My husband and I have banked at Fremont Bank for several years, and have always had a great experience. I had to take a moment to share my recent experience with Fremont Bank. Last month, my husband and I decided to refinance our mortgage loan to a 15 year fixed. We went into the branch and spoke with Susan Munkner. She was extremely knowledgeable, and offered us several options. She took the time to explain other loan options (15, 20 year) and also give us what the rate and monthly payments would be. She was very patient with my millions of questions, and took the time to go back over things that I still had questions about. The amount of documentation that is needed is very minimal, and the whole process went super quick. We had our appraisal in a week, and the loan closed and we signed to papers in a little over 2 weeks. I would totally recommend Fremont Bank for all of your banking needs. Really the nicest bank I have ever been to in California. Their small staff is really friendly and they are very efficient and quick in getting you on your way. They have a little children's area with an activity table so your kids don't go stir crazy if there happens to be a wait, which there rarely is. They offer bottled water, coffee, mints, and other miscellaneous items as a courtesy to their account holders. As far as banking accounts go they work for me, direct deposit gets your checking account fee waived and they have special incentives and other kinds of charitable donations set up when using your debit card. read more

I recently refinanced my house with Ali from Fremont Bank in Livermore. He was extremely helpful and always got back to me right away. My entire family uses fremont bank for all of their loans because of the great deal right now with low APR's. There were no surprise fee's and I didn't feel scamed like when I bought my house the first time. It was pretty easy and painless for a loan process. Last time with BofA It felt like every other day I was asked for something rediculous. I had to write a letter for BofA letting them know the reason there was a credit check on my credit was because THEY did it, anyway if you are planning on refinancing and are looking to get a seamless easy loan I recommend Ali at Livermore Fremont Bank. I would never yelp twice an establishment that i clearly stopped going to, the date of my last yelp. After closing all accounts (so i thought), i recieved an overdraft with a DAILY(WTF) overdraft fee which was 6.00. I called the 1800 number, the branch and each was told i'd recieve a call back. Crickets on the call back while i accrued a daily 6.00 fee. I then had to go down to the branch and close my already closed account which was now 36.00 past due. The level of incompetance from the staff is unexcetable in a modern banking world. Youll note i praised them in an earlier review. Complement rescinded. I had a very bad experience with Fremont Bank's loan servicing dept. I was looking for an equity loan but since my credit history was not perfect I consulted with them prior to applying for the loan. They said that there was a possibility that I could get the loan so I applied back on April 12th and they reviewed my credit and said that everything looked good and that I had little debt. On April 18th I received an automatic email stating that my loan was denied for "unacceptable repayment terms" in my credit history. Yes of course I had mentioned this prior to my application so in my eyes this was an unacceptable reason. When I asked why they had me apply if they didn't think that I was going to get the loan they said that they needed to fill out a form and speak to management. On April 19th they had me write a letter that would explain why I had negative items on my credit report so I sent them the letter and waited for an update. (I won't go into details about my credit but everything that I had done was done legally with a lawyer and a judge eventually dismissed my case in my favor.) I checked in with them several times and the response that I would get from them was that they would get back to me but it has been three weeks and I don't have a definite answer. Actually, I just called Fremont Bank and the customer service rep. said that there were no notes on my file and that the application was still showing up as denied so I don't know what they were trying to do but I feel like they wasted my time. I would have respected if they would have just told me that they couldn't do anything for me instead of just dragging me along. Little Banks are just like Big Banks! They don't care about the community they claim they would like to serve and they certainly don't follow Fannie Mae Guidelines. In the end I am better off at a big bank because at least they have more options and services to offer. End of rant here...... read more

Fremont bank is awful. They sold our mortgage loan to some fly by night company. When I called Fremont bank, they told me they never sell loans. So why did they sell our loans? the guy reassured me that they never sell loans, and was I sure I had fremont bank in the first place? When I asked if they could buy back my loan from the sketchy lender they sold it to, he got very angry with me. Said I could refinance, but nope, said the interest rate was higher so he could not refinance us. Now we are stuck with a sketchy lender, rates are going higher, and Fremont Bank said they never sell off loans even though they did. read more

I don't think they even deserve one star. Don't appreciate the treatment when you don't have an account with them. My elderly neighbor who has NO car will walk to Luckys on pay day to do her shopping then go to Fremont Bank to get quarters for her laundry. She has been doing it for years. Now they tell her because she doesn't have an account with them that she can't get quarters. They weren't even nice about it. There is no where close for her to walk to get her quarters. If you can't get quarters from a bank how are you suppose to get them? read more

Fremont bank mortgage division is the most inefficient financial organization I have EVER dealt with. It took 3 months to complete a loan for 1/5 the value of my home, and I have an 800 credit rating! I kept being assigned to a new processing clerk. And let me tell you, in the business of mortgage/ real estate purchasing you need good people on your side like Josie and Susan, especially during escrow. In the early stages of escrow, we had switched over to Fremont Bank to fund us and they picked up the pieces from my previous loan agent without missing a beat. EVERYTHING was done in an orderly fashioned manner without an problems.
