I can't say enough good things about my loan agent Kyle Randall! From step one to the final signature, he guided me through every part of the process with patience, honesty, and real expertise. He explained every step in plain language, answered every question, and never left me guessing about what came next. The whole process moved faster than I ever expected, and there were no surprises and no runaround. He kept everything on track and stayed in touch the entire way. He treated my family's home purchase like it was his own priority. Thanks to him, we're in our home, and I couldn't be happier. If you're looking for a loan agent who is knowledgeable, responsive, and truly cares, I highly recommend "Coop" -- Corey P. read more

Absolutely abysmal experience with CMG Financial's Loss Drafts department. Our homeowners insurance carrier, USAA, approved our hail-damage claim in April 2026. Our contractor completed our roof repairs in APRIL. Because CMG holds our mortgage, the insurance check required CMG's endorsement and release of the funds before we could pay our contractor. It is now almost OCTOBER -- nearly six months after the work was completed -- and CMG is still holding thousands of dollars owed to our contractor. Our contractor is now facing the prospect of placing a lien on our home because CMG has failed to release the insurance proceeds in a timely manner. We have made 10+ phone calls, many lasting 30 minutes to more than TWO HOURS, in addition to emails and repeated follow-ups. One of the most frustrating aspects is that we seem to discover a NEW requirement or piece of their process every time we call. Had CMG clearly explained the entire process and requirements from the beginning, much of this could have been avoided. In early September -- months after the roof was completed -- we were finally told CMG required an inspection through its third-party inspection company. We immediately scheduled it. It turned out to be a virtual Zoom inspection, during which I was instructed to take photos of our roof from the ground. Despite the roof being 100% completed, the resulting report inexplicably determined that the work was only 81% complete. Even more confusing, CMG then released only approximately 60% of the funds it was holding -- not 81%. We called yet again and escalated the issue to leadership. When I asked how an 81% completion determination resulted in only ~60% of our funds being released, I was told there was a calculation used to determine the amount. CMG could not provide the formula or explain how the amount was calculated. At this point, our primary concerns are simple: Why has it taken nearly six months to release insurance funds for completed work? Why weren't all requirements clearly communicated at the beginning? Why was a completed roof assessed at only 81%? And how did 81% completion result in only ~60% of the funds being released? We have spent countless hours trying to resolve something that should be a routine mortgage-servicer process. Meanwhile, our contractor -- who completed the work months ago -- is still waiting to be paid. I am posting this review because I genuinely do not know what else to do to get this resolved. I hope someone at CMG Financial with the authority to investigate the Loss Drafts process sees this and can explain the accounting, release the remaining funds owed for the completed work, and prevent other homeowners from going through the same experience. read more

This was my first time even hearing of CMG Financial and now will only sing praises for them. I worked with Joyce, who is truly one in over a million and makes the customer feel so special. She explained the difference between all the different loan types and programs available. The way Joyce handles all communication she made me feel like I was the only one who she was working with, she got to know me, understood my comfort level, respected my finance threshold, kept me informed throughout the whole process, and was always soooo happy and encouraging. I have only ever dealt with my personal bank when getting a mortgage but from now on, I will only deal with Joyce. read more

We recently moved from New York to Illinois and were working with our Realtor to find a new home in the Chicago area. When we found a house that matched our requirements, we negotiated an accepted offer and decided to work with Matt Medinger and CMG Financial, a lender our Realtor had recommended and worked with many times before. Since we were new to the area and had no experience with local lenders, we were putting a lot of trust in that recommendation. We're very glad we did. Matt walked us through every step of the process and explained how everything worked in Illinois. He brought in his team at CMG to handle the various pieces of the financing process, and they made sure we were ready whenever we found a house we wanted to pursue. We had a formal pre-approval letter available for our offers, and Matt made himself available to speak directly with sellers' agents whenever they wanted additional assurance about our ability to obtain financing. Unfortunately, our first house fell through after the inspection uncovered major issues and we could not reach an agreement with the seller on how to resolve them. Our home search continued for several more months and several more offers. Through all of it, Matt and his team were there whenever we needed them, making sure the financing side of our offers was never a concern for a seller. Ten offers later, we finally went under contract on the perfect house for us, and we went through the process once again with Matt. This transaction required a little more patience because the sellers requested a delayed closing while they prepared their new home. Matt stayed on top of everything throughout the extended timeline, including interest rates, and advised us when he believed the time was right to lock. In hindsight, his timing was excellent. We were able to lock our rate before rates began moving higher again. Closing went smoothly, financing was never an issue, and Matt had even planned to attend the closing so he could meet us in person and congratulate us. Unfortunately, illness prevented him from being there, so instead he made plans to visit us at our new home afterward. Matt and his team were valued partners throughout our entire home-buying journey. We never had to worry about the financing side of the transaction because we always felt that it was being handled and that someone was looking out for us. We are now in our forever home, so hopefully we won't need another mortgage anytime soon. But if we ever do, Matt will be the person we call. We would recommend him and CMG Financial without hesitation. read more

They are terrible. Told me to send them my first payment but had sold my loan. Never sent my first payment on to the new servicer causing me late calls. And why don't I just cancel the check and reissue a (now late) payment! Terrible company AVOID!! read more

If I could give zero stars I would! DO NOT EVER USE CMG MORTGAGE! My husband and I are both federal law enforcement officers, and he's a 100% disabled veteran, we did not get paid for over 50 days during the government shutdown and still had to report to work as "essential". We had to use credit cards, borrow money & got charged interest fees and late fees for all of our bills. We requested a forbearance for our mortgage, which we were told not to stress about because of our situation it would be approved. They denied us stating, "client declined program". We did not under any circumstance deny the forbearance. When I contacted them they told me to appeal the decision and we would be fine. Now we're being told no notes were put into the system, appeal has not been reviewed, however we were denied again. No one will help me, the last gentlemen actually told me maybe I should contact a financial advisor! So let me get this straight, we were not paid for over 50 days and you have no understanding that it put us in a bind???? We have been federal employees for years, numerous government shutdowns, none as awful as this one and every mortgage company has been very helpful and understanding... CMG Mortgage, is not considerate nor are they helpful! read more

purchase a home in 2020 through CMG Mortgage with an FHA loan for $117,000. Through the course of the last 4 1/2 years I experienced several hardships. I had covid several times as well as 3 unrelated surgeries that resulted in income loss. I was made aware of programs offered through FHA that would help with my mortgage without tax penalties so I utilized them on several occasions. The programs were explained to me as forbearing my loan payments and that each payment missed would be added on to the back of the loan. Each time I utilized one of the programs CMG Mortgage raised my mortgage payments to the point that I could no longer afford to keep my home. Raising the mortgage payments is the opposite of helping btw. I listed my home for sale and received an offer within a week. The house is/was set to close on December 26, 2024 but during the process of the sale, a lien was discovered in excess of $30,000. I was NEVER made aware that the programs would result in a lien let alone for that much. The math isn't mathing. When I called to request a breakdown I was yelled at and told that my loan had been archived which again made no sense. The person that I spoke to began screaming at me for asking and refused to send me the breakdown that totaled $30,000. Seems like PREDATORY LENDING AND FRAUD to me and the attorneys that I work. read more

Wells Fargo confirmed payment sent ON TIME to CMG 3160 Crow Canyon Road. CMG then took 11 days to process the payment, and are charging me a late fee.... 3 MONTHS in a row. They are refusing to refund the late fee, even though I have documented proof from Wells Fargo they received the payment on time. I sent in a written request to have it refunded, as instructed, and they never sent a letter back. Just got off the phone with a manager, and they are telling me they are not allowed to send written confirmation of the denial back. I attached proof of payment, which shows it took 11 days to process payment which was due on the 15th, and I called up every time for 3 months asking why it took so long. read more
