We also wanted a camera inspection of our sewer main line to confirm the stuff we are using to keep the roots out is working. Nick gave a ballpark cost over the phone for the bore scope inspection and after seeing the shower gave us a quote on that. The prices were all fai and he replaced the galvanized stuff with brass which won't rust. The bore scope inspection confirmed no roots in the line and he called me downstairs so I could watch it. We are happy with Nick's service and prices. He's an honest contractor who won't try to take advantage of you.

These guys are GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!…read more They quoted me a price for rebuilding my catch basin of $650 over the phone which was at least $800 less than anyone else. They came that day to give me a firm estimate, which was the same. Arrived 2 days latter. The basin was full of sewage, and they had to rod the system first (included in the price.) They were unable to get the line clear. The suggested hydro power flushing for $250. That did not work. For an additional $1400 they put clean-out on my front lawn, and credited me the $250 for the power flushing. The clean-out made it clear that the sewer was collapsed outside of my property line. They set up the city inspection at no extra charge and provided the necessary work for the city to take over and replace 6 feet of sewer under the street. Three of them worked on this project for FIVE FULL DAYS from 10:00am to 6:30pm. The total cost was $2050. I am convinced that they saved me at least $2000. (The city sewer inspector said that most homeowners were usually out over $5000 before the city got called in.) These guys are the princes of the sewers, and joked that they were born in a catch basin. I would call them again without hesitation if I needed sewer work done again.

We are thrilled with Chicago City Wide Sewer. We had our first toilet installed and I called six…read moreplaces for quotes. Yes, that was overkill, but I think I was making up for not getting enough quotes for past jobs. :) They're licensed and insured, were direct with answers, helpful, and gave us a price that was less expensive than others. The "Plumbing Dr." never called back and we played phone tag. "Windy City Plumbing" gave us such a spread in price, we were very confused. And two other places were much more expensive and seemed corporate and too high end. I ordered my Gerber Avalanche toilet from Homedepot.com and when it arrived, Chicago City Wide Sewer installed the next day. Rob was here on time and it took mere minutes to have the old toilet out. I think he arrived and left in about 40 minutes or less! The toilet was perfectly installed and was rock solid, didn't budge. As with ALL contractors, cleanup could have been better but that's common. :) I got a paid receipt and he went on his way. These guys know what they are doing! Congrats!

I reached out to AA at the recommendation of someone and I will advise against anyone using them…read morefor plumbing services going forward. Context: our building has had several main line backups over the years and we started seeing signs it might happen again (water gurgling, toilet water acting strange, etc.). So, to be proactive we contacted AA Plumber to clear and scope the line. A plumber came, hydro jetted and used a borescope to verify the line is clear. Well just a day or 2 later the toilets were gurgling and foul odors were coming up through the shower drains. So, I contacted AA and they assured us it was most likely a venting issue and is no immediate concern. Well a few days later the sewage backed up so we did end up having to call an emergency plumber. They (the emergency plumbers) were shocked that AA hydro jetted when there was no cleanout (jetting from a toilet access can cause water to flood back into the unit) also AA did not use a plumbing camera just a 9ft sink drain borescope so there was no way they verified the line was clear. Anyways the emergency plumbers believed AA either just moved the blockage down the pipe or never actually cleared the line all the way to the city sewage line (I certainly did not see them run more than a couple feet of line). After the line was cleared by the emergency plumbers (which was a premium and what I was trying to avoid in the first place by contacting AA) I asked them for some form of refund due to incomplete/unsatisfactory service but they refused to offer any reimbursement. I don't know if they are licensed plumbers and are obviously not using the proper equipment to do a quality job. I would advise anyone avoid these folks if you are looking for a plumber in Chicago, there are plenty of other options out there to choose from so find someone else.

I do not recommend Chicago Plumbing Experts. I just bought a house with my fiancé and there was a…read morehorrible smell coming from the basement. The inspector advised us as to what the issue could be and we asked Chicago Plumbing Experts to provide a quote to fix the issue. Will diagnosed the issue as being a busted P trap. He provided a quote for $3,879 to break up the concrete around the P trap, install a new P trap, hydro-jet the drain and sewer system, and "re-concrete kitchen drain/vent line assuming line is fine." As new home owners, we thought this was a fair price and we agreed to the price and the invoice, and two guys (I can't remember their names) came out to address the issue. They were 1.5 to 2 hours late and when they arrived they were unfamiliar with what services they were to be providing. We actually had to show them our copy of the invoice so they could familiarize themselves with the job they were supposed to be completing. After about an hour, they notified us that they needed to go buy some supplies. This seemed normal, but they were gone for three hours. When they returned they told us they had to go all the way to Brookfield (from Chicago) to retrieve the hydro-jet, which was supposed to have been brought with them to begin with, according to the services listed on the invoice. Now the kitchen drain. I will accept fault for accepting the wording of the invoice. We knew the kitchen drain was NOT fine, and I assumed they would fix it once they removed the concrete and confirmed that it wasn't fine. They did not fix the kitchen drain. They removed the concrete, confirmed what the inspector had already told us, and used a towel (provided by us) to fill the gapping hole around the corroded pipe. They told us they could re-concrete the drain, but it would need to be serviced in the same way as the P trap (meaning it was going to cost us another $4K to properly fix the issue because they needed to break up the concrete, install a new pipe, and re-concrete the kitchen drain). In addition to this, they decided to hydro-jet the drain and sewer system by using the stack in the basement. They broke the cap on the stack and did not have a replacement in their truck. They told my fiancé what he needed to buy and told him where to buy it. They were about to explain how to install it, but he told them he wanted to go buy the replacement cap and have them install it before they left. They told him the cap needed to be 4 inches so that's what he bought. It turned out the cap needed to be 3.75 inches so the cap my fiancé bought didn't fit. They instead filled the hole with plastic bags and said they would come back to fix it, for an additional charge. They didn't even end up using the stack to hydro-jet the drain and sewer system...they used the catch basin in the backyard. Breaking the cap on the stack was entirely preventable. We called to complain to Will after they left two holes in our basement and he told us they would be back on Monday to put a cap on the stack and to re-concrete the kitchen drain, as discussed. They did return on Monday, but they were there for less than ten minutes to put a cap on the stack and then they left. Although they were there twice, they did not clean up their mess and I had to dispose of the extra rags and their water bottles. They did correct the issue with the P trap, but it was NOT worth it. The service was very unprofessional and overpriced. Advice for new homeowners: assume NOTHING and get EVERYTHING in writing, whether you hire Chicago Plumbing Experts or someone else. Save yourself the expense and the headache.
