I like it here. It's old-school, and kinda reminds me of a carnival restaurant (in a good way). The menu is fairly extensive, and well-priced. The people behind the counter have been nice (I've been there twice so far), albeit maybe they could benefit from an extra person working at any given time. When I arrived, I realized that I was missing a meal, so I called back. No apology, only ridiculed because I didn't have the receipt that was not given to me. If you choose to dine here make sure that you insist on receiving a receipt. It is a really small restaurant that has been around for decades in this small town. I grew up eating good food and numerous milkshakes and ice cream. My Papa is addicted to their milkshakes and homemade ice cream. They have every flavor you can think of AND will mix the flavors for you. For example, he order a vanilla milkshake with ripe cherries and pineapple. He likes their home made soup's better than mine. Such a great, welcoming atmosphere. P.S. This is the Tastee Freeze John Mellencamp sings about in "Jack and Diane". I have been eating there since the 1970's. They have the best chili cheese burgers in Horry County. Their foot long hot dogs (sucking on a chili dog behind the Tastee Freeze) are the best, and you can add slaw to it. I can never finish one of their freezees by myself. We were running errands in Conway and I got a craving for a hotdog so we stopped in. Wife and I love old diners like this. Inside is small and takes you back in time to the 70's. We ordered two hotdogs, the wife a regular with chili and mustard and I got a foot long with mustard, chili and onion. We passed on the slaw because neither of us like the green mayo based slaws. Food was served fast and hot. The hotdogs were good and the seasoned fries hot and crispy with no grease. They would have gotten another star if service had been a whole lot better. The older woman taking orders was slower than a snail crawling through molasses in the winter, and when our order was ready and my name called, another woman just handed me our food without saying a word to me, no Thank-you, have a good day or nothing, but as soon as someone came in she knew, she became very friendly and talkative. Overall the food was good, the service sucked so no tip was left, but for two people to eat lunch for $13.54 in today's world is a bargain. read more

I don't know who the owner or the manager is for this place. My recommendation to you is to do better. If you can't do better than what we experienced today you really need to just closed the door and go home. I use to go to the freeze weekly sometimes 2-3 times a week. I loved there candy freezes you use to get so much candy in every bite. A few weeks ago I went and there was almost nothing in mine so pretty much just vanilla ice cream. Took a break after that time went back tonight thinking they must have just had a bad night or new person working not knowing how it's done. Sadly that was not the case. Agin almost no candy at all! Just a few chocolate bits as you can see in pictures. I love so close and loved this place but they have gone down hill recently. Very sad I will probably not be going back or as often. Came back about an hour later...no line. So i told the young girl at the window that an hour ago i pulled out of line and asked her why the red car was at the window so long. She said....get this....the guy ordered a grilled item and the grill shut off so they had him wait at the window until they could start the grill up again and cook his food! I asked her why didn't you have the guy drive out and pull into one of your parking spots and bring his food to him when it was ready? She shrugged her shoulders....she didn't know. We love Freeze Restaurant and visit here regularly when we're in Conway. The milkshakes are absolutely delicious, and their hamburgers are yummy and huge! I've had their corn dogs, chili dogs, fries, tots, and onion rings as well, and they're all very tasty. Freeze tends to stay quite busy, but it's worth the wait. This is another must-stop place when I go to Myrtle Beach. This little dive on Main St in Conway used to be a Tastee-Freeze I think. It serves burgers, dogs, fries, sandwiches, ice cream and shakes. The Freeze serves my second favorite burger, only behind the Fuku Burger Truck in Vegas. Their bacon double cheeseburger comes with about 8 or so thick slices of smokey bacon that have been deep fried into little knotted balls of crunchy, porky goodness, The two beef patties have good flavor, are topped with melted American cheese. The burger is dressed with yellow mustard, onions and thick, spicy chili. Not really something I usually like but as I'm more of a ketchup, mayo pickle guy but in this case it just works incredibly well. Their fries aren't like any I have had anywhere else either. They are kind of battered like Ralley's/Checkers and the insides are like mashed potatoes which are about the temperature of Chernobyl when freshly fried. This is the only place where you eat the fries second, otherwise the molten lava of potato will scorch your tongue. read more

Yuck!! I went because of other people's reviews. The bacon cheeseburger looked so good. NOT! It was gross. It wasn't even all meat. It's some kind of soybean, grain burger. There were black flecks of something all in it. And both patties had this weird split in the burger, like an air pocket or something. It had no juice. It was a heavy textured patty... Very chewy. The bacon was not what other people described. Ours was more like a fat wad with a slight crunch. It totally reminded us of the hamburger you can get in a vending machine at hospitals. Lol. Nasty! Here in Myrtle Beach on vacation, we pass this place so many times on our way to and from the beach and it's always busy. It's dine in, takeout and has a drivethru. The inside is outdated and smells stale. The staff was mostly teens, but they were friendly. My Husband got a massive banana split. I ordered an oreo sundae, they were both awesome. I waited in line for 30 minutes got to the speaker to order i sat there for another 7 to 10 minutes then got to the window waited 5 minutes to pay then had to pull over and park to wait for my food. This is one of those local gems that people try to keep secret. I stopped here for lunch and I was greeted by a friendly young man who took my order. I tried the bacon cheese burger "All the way." With chili, mustard and onion. I also had a small order of onion rings. When my order came out I was thrilled. The burger was large and covered with bacon. The onion rings were hot and delicious. If you love good food, this place is a find. If you need fancy, stay home. I will definitely be taking my husband here for lunch soon.
