Worst towing company! My apartment complex towed my car because I accidentally parked in the parking lot next to my own. This towing company charged me $335 for a couple of hours. I literally picked it up that same day but they considered it "after hours". There was a $55 storage fee but my car was still on the tow truck when I got there. I called the manager 'DANNY' and he said they cant take that charge off. I explained how stressed out this has made me and how my job gave me termination letter and if he can please help reduce the cost, he said "its not my problem" and hung up on me. The end of the day came, the business closed and the vehicle never got towed. The next day the owner made it clear he don't need to meet his commitments for the day if he made enough money for the day. Scammer & defrauder who used aggressive behaviors to elicit immediate payment. 'Charged $350 for 10-minute service to jump start my battery on the rooftop of a downtown San Diego parking garage. I made it very clear I was only calling because I was in immediate need of long battery cables. I stated that I was not ready for a tow because no service centers were open at that early hour to secure a mechanic (On an early Saturday morning after 2 hours of sleep and 2 days of international flights, I hoped the jump start would get me home, which was about 90 miles away). Mike, the owner of Freeway Towing, responded in a standard, red Tacoma flatbed pickup truck. He charged me $375 -citing $125 for the 10- minute jump start PLUS an additional $150 "parking garage service fee". He said that's because they also bring a tow truck in case the battery doesn't start. I told him I was willing to pay his $125 jump start fee, but unwilling to pay the additional $150. I never asked for a tow. He stepped forward very close to my face and told me to shut off my car if I wasn't going to pay the full amount. I backed away from him, got into my car and locked the door, partially rolling up my window. He moved his truck behind my vehicle to block me in. I initiated cell-phone recording and again, explained that I will pay the $125. He told me to call the police. Although I doubt the police would have responded (let alone allowed Mike to continue his tactics of intimidation), I was already nearing inability to make the drive home. I also knew response would not be a police priority, possibly taking hours. I elected to pay the outrageous $275 fee. As I'm an over 50-year old female, I kept my door locked and window mainly rolled up for safety while paying him via credit card. I hope this review saves someone else this experience. read more

I called for a quote on a tow today and told them how my car does not start and it is a salvage tow. They told me it was a $95 base fee with an additional $9 per mile. I was okay with the quote which was why I chose them after shopping around. However, after they towed it, they told me the total was 607.26 and told me it was an accident tow and it was $350 for the base price plus other costs for labor and special parts which was not at all the price I was quoted. Right after my accident, the police called another tow company and they only charged me $260 for an emergency tow! I feel like I was totally ripped off and they did not tell me any of the additional costs over the phone. read more

I do not know how this company has so many 5 star reviews. Waited for them to show up and after the allotted 60-90 min eta they cancel. No reason, no call, no nothing. I called my insurance to check the status and they ended up telling me of the cancellation. Good thing I wasn't on the side of the road or else I'd be toast. If you're dealing with people, give them the courtesy of a call or something to let them know you won't be on your way. Whoever owns this business should be embarrassed. The way I was treated as a customer was absolutely terrible. I will be reporting them to the better business bureau to be reviewed. My car was towed further than I had requested, and the driver mislead me into thinking that insurance would cover the cost. When I called to ask further about this, the person who answers the phone said "you didn't have a gun to your head" and kept saying I was playing games with him. They had also tried to trick me into thinking that I would need to have my car towed to a dealership, when way later, he suggested using a traveling locksmith (a card he knew in his back pocket, but would rather take as much money as possible from me). When I had asked him about this and why they insisted I tow it to a dealership for a new key fob, he said that he had done me a favor by telling me about the traveling locksmith, when in reality he had already started the tow to the dealership, knowing he was just continuing to make money off of me. The initial tow of 7 miles, cost a total of $495, and they continued to scam me and charge me by misleading me completely and having it towed to their lot, when I didn't want it to be. I was going to give them the benefit of the doubt and call to discuss what had happened, and when I called, the person who answers the phone yelled (and I actually mean yelled) over me for 6 minutes about how I am full of bullshit, wasting his time and that he had done me a favor. Do not under any circumstance use this business. They are completely unprofessional, rude, and thieves when you have given them your trust. Again, I will be reporting them. I called a second company and was told it would be a minimum of three hours, but could be longer. I couldn't wait that long. I called Freeway Towing and explained my situation, Nick said it was no problem and he would dispatch someone right away. I reminded him it was in East County and kind of in the middle of nowhere. Again Nick said no problem. The driver arrived fairly soon, was friendly and had everything hooked up in no time. Having a vehicle towed is stressful for me.
