I just had an appointment today at Freeway Ford. I have an extended warranty. I alerted the technician to diagnose an issue that has a service bulletin and that we frequently experience, although it is an intermittent issue. The issue involving brake that disengage is a significant safety concern. I planned on paying my 100.00 deductible. Freeway Ford changed me an extremely high $220.00 diagnostic fee. They will tell you one thing and do another and they don't care if you are happy or not. At Freeway Ford apparently the "customer is never right" and they did absolutely nothing to rectify the issue. Pass on Freeway Ford! I eventually "Escaped" with my messed up Ford Escape and with a much lighter wallet and nothing was fixed! read more

I bought a car from them in September. The first really cold day about a month into financing the car. The engine started to overheat. I drove it back home parked it and realized that the radiator was frozen solid. There was nothing but water in the radiator. The radiator cracked and was leaking profusely. They refused to flush and fill it. A couple weeks later. My heating controls lost power, the AC compressor is seized and is broken, and there is a massive oil leak underneath the car. They refuse to help pay for anything and I am now stuck with a car that will cost more to fix it then it did to buy it. Worst dealership I have ever been to. read more

Beware: Freeway Ford Does Not Honor Signed Agreements I purchased a 2024 Ford F-150 from Freeway Ford, and what should have been a smooth transaction turned into a frustrating and dishonest experience. The dealership ignored our signed contract and later tried to claim that I was "verbally informed" of a different warranty start date--which never happened. At the time of purchase, I was given a signed document guaranteeing a 42-month/42,000-mile warranty starting from my purchase date. However, when I later checked, I discovered that Freeway Ford had already started my warranty nine months earlier--without telling me. That means I lost nearly a year of coverage that I was promised. When I brought this issue to their attention, they refused to honor the contract, ignored the clear paperwork, and instead tried to justify it with excuses. This is not how a trustworthy dealership operates. If you're considering buying from Freeway Ford, be extremely careful. Make sure to double-check everything, because once you sign, they might try to change the terms after the fact--just like they did with me. read more

I purchased a used 2021 F-150 with less than 51,000 miles from Freeway Ford. The sales experience was underwhelming -- the salesperson (keeping their name off here for personal privacy) was a fast talker who didn't go out of their way to make the deal special. On the plus side, I was out the door in 2.5 hours, which is relatively quick for a dealership. Unfortunately, that's where the positives end. On the first day home, the truck's electronics malfunctioned due to an incorrect battery installation. I had to drive two hours back to the dealership, paying out of pocket for gas, just to have the battery replaced. Weeks later, I noticed grinding in the front wheel drives despite driving the truck very little -- likely an existing issue, thankfully covered by the Ford powertrain warranty. To top it off, the windshield was leaking (bought in winter, noticed after washing once), and the dealership refused to cover the repair under the warranty they had advertised at purchase. Bottom line: the vehicles they sell don't appear to be well-vetted for quality, and the sales department doesn't care about customers, even when you're spending over $40,000. They never followed up or showed concern about the mechanical issues I faced. I get it is used, but at this price point, I was expecting better service. If you're in the market for a Ford, do yourself a favor -- go somewhere else for sales, parts, and service. read more

This dealership has a truly terrible service team. After calling twice to confirm the issue I needed to resolve (and them confirming they could do this), I was met with two service individuals who treated me like I had no idea what I was talking about and reluctantly took my keys after stating that the request I was making wasn't going to fix the problem. According to every mechanic I've talked to, getting to the radio control panel is difficult and requires removing the windshield wiper system to get to it. After less than 15 minutes I was called back in and told me that the solution that they originally told me would work, then dismissively told me wouldn't when I arrived, hadn't worked. To be totally honest, I'm doubting that they even did the work they said they did. There was no receipt given, and the entire encounter left me frustrated - and took less than half the time they said it required. I would never return to this dealership, not for any service and not for any purchase. read more

Test drove a car at Freeway Ford a 2019 Escape. While test driving I noticed a hesitation, I was assured the car had been fully inspected. They brought it into shop diagnosed bad rear differential. They commented they are not going to fix it as the problem is intermittent. They recommend if I did purchase it to buy a warranty and have it fixed. This issue could be a major safety issue which could cause a serious accident also I believe it would be fraud to submit a pre existing condition to the warranty company. Feel bad someone may buy this vehicle without knowing the issues and I m sure the dealership will not disclose it. Please stay away from this place. read more

Took my truck In and was told that the turbo was bad and after it is fixed I would be crazy to trade it in because the motor was now fully covered for 2 years. It's been a year and 3 more repairs all denied by them at a cost of $9,000. This place has no integrity and a 1 star rating is way too high. read more

This dealership puts "Pulse" on all of their vehicles, then charges you $400 for this technology that blinks your 3rd taillight when you step on the brakes. When buying my car, I asked to have it removed or not pay for it since it is a dealer add-on that I did not want. They would not budge. Since I brought the vehicle home, the brake light never blinked when I pushed the brake. They either installed it wrong, or they claimed to have installed it when they didn't. I asked for a refund for the "pulse" but all they wanted to do was take apart my car again to fix this worthless technology. So because of there screw up, they wanted me to drive 40 min to their dealership and sit and wait for them to fix something that they messed up in the first place. Needless to say, I won't be shopping at Freeway Ford anymore. They would rather keep their $400 than have a lifelong customer. read more

First off I do not own a Ford and I was just car shopping and stopped in. The employees seem kind and place is moderately clean and no issues there. However, even the most basic of tasks it seems like they had to talk to a manager. I'm not even talking about test drive or financial questions just asking about trading vehicle or the trade in process and they had to run and get manager and then come back with answer (but no manager with them). So the employee was trying his best but it's obvious this place is not managed very well and I would guess the employees get minimal training. The sad cycle of poorly run auto dealerships is they lose customers due to bad management or bad training so then they have to try and get top dollar out of every customer that buys from them to maximize profit from the few customers that remain that then in turn drives away more customers and the cycle then repeats. Again I did not buy anything and just wanted to get some info on a vehicle and left after the sales person couldn't answer basic questions and I was polite but won't be back. I hope they either get better manager or better training since I really did want to like this place and think the location is great, but in the cutthroat auto sales industry where customer service is king, they are falling short. read more

I wondered why I was so frustrated and horrified after the new car purchase at Freeway Ford, until I watched a video on youtube by Lawyer Steve Lehto regarding " False imprisonment" at car dealerships. They dragged the process on for eight hours even though I was writing a check (and there was no negotiation because I worked at The Ford Plant in St, Paul for 25 years and had the Ford Employee pricing) and knew the vehicle I was trying to buy. Beware, if the process takes longer than two hours, get the heck out of there with your soul. SHAME ON FREEWAY FORD for giving Ford a bad name. read more

I went to this place for the first time for the recall and to check them out for their oil change and tire rotation service since I don't want to spent my time here there. So I brought my brand new car here first time tire rotation and second oil change after the service I here a vibrating sound underneath and brought it back and I was told they mistakenly do some part inappropriate place and they will fix it. After that fix there's still same noise. A week after, another appointment, got me signed a paper, I asked what it's for and they told me I will be charged $200 just to see what's the issue is. I said nah I have my own place to go and I refuse to pay the manager trying to offer me some BS. My friends had the same issue from this place but I went to this place anyway just to do the recall primary so I got my brand new car noise and I got over charged for the service as my friend told me. The only good thing about this place is a warm place to seat and a coffee which everyone provides. Keep it up guys. read more

Buyer beware. The lack of caring about the customer is astounding. They are literally the cliche of all cliches: the car salesman who wants to make a quick buck and will say anything, at your expense. They make promises, bark quickly at you as you sign papers, and then change the wording on documents that you have then signed, while they were barking at you. Then they promise other things, which they then change. They told me they would replace my chipped windshield. When the window people came to do it, they said they had been told it was only a "repair" -- the chip is right in my line of sight, and the repair person recommended, for the sake of safety, that I get it replaced. The dealership not only refused to honor their word, then they refused to listen to the glass professional. The back and forth only got worse with more promises made and then changed, a good old-fashioned bait and switch mixed with a dash of chauvinism and a hint of condescension. Basically, if they say "repair", it can NOT ever mean "replace," even if it would mean a repair to the car -- the salesman told me he knew it was a safety issue. Then he ghosted me, apparently that's part of what they do at this place: I had to send multiple emails, which was a little like bashing my head against a wall. If I could give negative stars, I would -- and for what? So these guys can shave a couple hundred bucks off, skim a little extra off the top on the back of a solo Mom? Insanity. (you'll see by way of their responses to others - their condescension and lack of giving a hoot is apparent). Finally they resorted to telling me what I had and hadn't been told -- classic. This is an unfriendly business towards women, a hostile place where they will gaslight you and then blame you. Like other reviewers, I'm sure they will send some kind of weird non-response. Just know: as a small business owner myself, I know the importance of treating customers well -- these people definitely do not. Shame on them. read more

This is a review of the service dept. They provided a dishonest quote, saying I needed new rear & front brakes @ $800.00. Specifically, they said the rear brakes were "metal on metal" and the fix needed to happen ASAP. I thought it was odd since I have never heard any noise when braking (and my car is relatively new at 35,000 miles). I had a road trip planned for the same week, so wanted to get a second opinion. I went to Midas on Lake Street in Minneapolis. What a difference in customer service & honesty. They told me I am good to go for now + at least 5,000 miles (and even showed me the brake pads up against the measuring tool) - at no charge. They also documented that there are 8MM and 5MM left on the pads (versus the 0MM and 1MM that Ford documented). I do have paperwork showing the difference. To add to the poor experience at Ford, they also could not find my keys at the end of my quick lane appt (which took two hours). And they forgot )or just decided not to) do one thing I wanted (pull the door code). Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately for me) by that time I was out of patience and time. They also said they wanted $50.00 which seemed steep to get a door code #. It could be standard, I am not sure. The woman at the service reception desk was kind and friendly. Very poor customer service. They reached out a week before Thanksgiving to let me know of a couple recalls they had done to my vehicle in the past that they wanted to re-check as they believe they may have been done incorrectly or not at all. The first appointment they had was the day before Thanksgiving (11/24). They even offered a free oil change for the inconvenience, but the work had to be done prior to the end of the month (super tight time frame). I was unable to make that work when I live 30+ miles away. At the end of the first week of December (12/7 to be exact), I reached back out via text (the way they have been communicating with me so far, and on the same thread) inquiring about an appointment for the repairs.... No response... January 6 almost a month later, I am now having issues with my door latches that were part of one of the recalls they wanted to re-inspect. I decided to call to get an appointment setup and was put on hold multiple times for over 10 min, I asked for a call back, they agreed. Over 3 hours pass no call back. I call back in and ask to talk to the service manager to let them know of my issues and that all I would like to do is get my vehicle fixed, and for the troubles see if they would still honor the free oil change. The service manager told me that the window for the re-inspection of the repairs expired at the end of last year and they would no longer be able to do that and I should wait until Ford re-submits a recall for the issue sometime in the near future (door not latching, and becoming un-latched at highway speeds). He also advised me that they would not be doing the oil change as that time had passed. This seemed wrong on many levels and horrible customer service so I asked to talk to the GM as this didn't seem right that I am having an issue with a repair they did, they previously wanted to look at and now they won't. The GM stated that I should have came in before the end of November to make this all easier for them, stated they for sure would not do any courtesy oil change and that it would be best if I went to another Ford Dealership to have the warranty work inspected and done. HORRIBLE experience, I highly do not recommend... Go elsewhere. read more

10/03/2017 I was in the suburbs when my "Oil change required" light came on. I phoned the dealer to find out when their next available opening would be, I was very happy to hear "now". My quick lane service advisor was Louis Hardin, super nice and accommodating. They even washed my vehicle. Oil change, tire repair and rotation. Quick and cost effective. Unethical, Fraudulent, Bait and Switch by Waldoch/Freeway Ford at the Minnesota State Fair! I put a refundable cash down payment on a van. Told I was first in line and no one else had put down any money. First right of refusal. Told an hour later, while still at the fair, that now I needed $500 non-refundable to hold the van. Asking for more money and NON-Refundable seemed unethical. Texted later that the car was being taken off the lot and I could test drive and buy it on Thursday. Called Wednesday night, the car was sold to someone else. Now they are offering me another vehicle for $11,000 more money. I am very disappointed and wanted to warn other fair-goers read more

As I get older I notice much more when it comes to service. I don't care what time of day it is or if a customer walks in right before you close, I think every customer should get the feeling that you care. Maybe it's the culture of the staff, but I felt that I was just a ticket going in, and a ticket going out. I would have like to see the service rep explain to me why there was a recall and what they are doing to fix it. I get the feeling that some auto service companies think their consumers have no idea about vehicles (that would make their jobs easier). Therefor treating me like an idiot by not even bothering to talk to me about what they plan on doing. I then proceeded into the lounge where not one person said hi or acknowledged my presence. To be honest I don't feel great about doing business with freeway ford. I think if they surveyed their customers they could find some areas of improvement for the customer service. read more

This review is specifically for my quick lane service experience. I was unable to complete my scheduled maintenance before my trip to MPLS resulting in a stop at Freeway Ford while on my trip. The quick lane is first come, first served. I hoped to avoid a wait by arriving before opening and it worked! The employees were extremely friendly and helpful. The service ("The Works"- oil change, tire rotation, inspections, etc) was completed in less than an hour for less money than many other places--and they even washed my car! If I lived in the area, Freeway Ford would be my go-to on service for my Explorer. read more

These guys sent me a text to check on some Carbon Monoxide thing they installed 4 years ago on an F150. They offered a free oil change, so I brought it in even after I told them I bought my truck from a different dealer, and asked them to confirm. After an hour drive round trip, they called and told me the service was actually meant for the explorer (that I actually bought from there). So they sent text on wrong vehicle. Then bait and switched on services which aren't even Ford recommended but based on some lower mileage recommendation (which in itself took two passes because the first recommendation list was on the explorer). I have some serious trust issues with these guys and will never go back again. Tad nervous my vehicle will be tinkered with and will break down soon after this 'free' simple oil change and bait and switch for needless services. read more

The day before my appointment I added on a check engine light that said the engine was misfiring. Tyler and his crew texted me updates throughout the day and did their best to fix my car in one day. When they realized that wasn't going to be possible, Tyler got me a loaner for a day and sent me updates the following day. Before taking apart my engine they made sure the parts they might need would be available the day of. I purchased a car through the USAA car buying service. Freeway Ford was one of the three dealers that were participating in this program. I decided to use them as they were the closest to my home. I knew exactly what I was looking for, so I didn't need much in the way of research or other help. So my requirements were pretty simple. The staff at Freeway Ford were competent, kind, and professional and satisfied my needs. I plan on using them for all of the service needs for the new Ford I purchased from them. I own a 2012 Ford Focus, which is one of a few models that's been reported to have significant transmission problems. I received a letter from Ford (Corporate) that extended the warranty on my vehicle and offered transmission repairs by ANY Ford dealer free of charge. When I brought my vehicle in to Freeway Ford, someone took it on a two-minute test drive around the parking lot and claimed that my vehicle was not eligible for the repairs and they denied me service. I was persistent - I showed them the letter and begged them to take it on a longer test drive, but they refused me service! Less than a week later, I received a postcard from AutoNation Ford in White Bear Lake, offering the free repairs in addition to a free loaner car. I believed it was too good to be true based on my experience with Freeway Ford, but I just picked up my car and I couldn't be more impressed with AutoNation Ford. They fixed my car, provided a free loaner, and gave my car a full maintenance check, car wash, and wax for FREE! Their customer service was unbeatable. I DO NOT RECOMMEND FREEWAY FORD FOR ANY REASON. The extra few miles to AutoNation Ford in White Bear Lake is worth it, TRUST ME. read more

I am going to keep this short because I have so many bad things to say, that I don't know where to start. Do not go to Freeway Ford. They lied to my boyfriend and I about a Ford Focus that we found, and proceeded to try to convince us that we had it all wrong. Rick (Sales Manager) was really good at telling me how the car they shipped up from another state was the car that I agreed upon buying a few days prior. Meanwhile, as I was leaving the dealership after I broke off the deal, I stopped the salesman whom I had been working with to tell him that they were no longer going to have my business. He tried to talk to Rick to make a deal, but the lack of communication between them just got worse and worse. Long story short, they lied and tried to steal from us. I hope you all take these negative reviews (not only from myself, but from others) on Freeway Ford very seriously and do not do business with them. read more

Freeway Ford is a dealer you can trust. From a car service standpoint, Freeway Ford has changed my mind about bringing a car to a dealer for repairs other than warranty. They are fair priced and they get the job done right. Communication has been excellent. As a car seller, they are good people but you have to come armed with information on price. They are still a car dealer and they are still trying to sell cars at the highest price. I have found that if I come in knowing what I want and what a fair price is, they are usually quick to agree and get me the car I want. To be honest, I but cars from here because the service department is so great. The sales is fine, but it is like most car dealers, but the service department makes me smile. read more

Why there are so many bad reviews for Freeway Ford is beyond my comprehension. My husband and I went in to possibly drive off with a new car. Not knowing how it would play out with spending the last few years rebuilding our credit, we were expecting the worst. I chose the car I wanted, gave them a number, and they exceeded beyond what I thought would be reasonable. Andy, Adam, and the whole crew who helped us were amazing and treated us like we had a million dollars. That is no exaggeration. To Freeway Ford: We want to publicly thank you for your hospitality, willingness to fight for what we needed in financing, and making us feel at home while we waited with our busy little boys. 10/17 I would like to update this review. After I posted the message I called their service deparment again, and explained that really couldn't wait until next week. Scott listened to my concerns and told me to bring it in as planned. I don't believe Scott knew that the review had even been posted and he was trying to help me get this resolved. When I brught it in this morning they were going to get an extra tech in to help get this figured out, which I appreciated. They have been keeping me updated. 10/16 I am having major problems with their service department. I purchased the extended warranty on my 2010 Ford Transit. I've had it serviced 4 times because my blinkers kept burning out. Now the service department is saying it's an electrical issue and they need a day to diagnose the problem. I have rearranged my schedule to get this done, scheduled this twice with their service department. They have cancelled both appointments late afternoon the day before due to not having 'adequate coverage.' Three weeks without rear blinkers is dangerous and not acceptable. Paying all the money for extended warranties doesn't provide any preferential treatment either. read more

I was called last Saturday June 27th as I recently had service done on my vehicle a week or so prior. I was told that my car was eligible to be bought out and upgraded to a newer model. I explained to the person on the phone a concern of mine was some negative equity that was owed on the vehicle and I'm not sure if the banks (especially during the pandemic) would approve the loan. They asked that I come in anyway to look at one of the vehicles and test drive. We worked out some numbers and the finance guy was getting to work on it. I waited for over an hour before he came out to tell me he had been trying to get a hold of someone higher up in finance. (Granted, they called ME to come in on a Saturday and didn't even keep me in the loop) He told me that he would give me a call Monday to let me know what the bank would say, but I had a "pretty good shot". Monday rolls around I hadn't heard anything and decided to call around 4 pm to check and see the status. I left a message with finance and the sales guy I had worked with. About an hour later I got a call (I was in a meeting with a client and was unable to answer) and was left a message by the sales guy who said, "Finance has been tied up and hasn't had a change to get a hold of you, but informed me that the bank said it's a no-go and thank you for your time. Call if you have questions." I attempted to call back twice to get more information as to why they denied it. They pulled my credit for this. I haven't gotten a call back to let me know what my score was, why the banks denied it, or if we could work out other options for the vehicle. I feel as though because they couldn't "make a deal" happen immediately through finance, they dropped me like dead weight. You guys called ME trying to work something out and I feel like minimal to no effort was put in. I don't feel like this is how interactions between your customers/clients should be when things don't go the way they are expected. I was very upfront about my concerns on the approval from the beginning and I feel like my time was wasted and filled with empty promises. read more

This is only in regards to the car service repair. I was visiting out of town when my car door side window wouldn't close. I went to Freeway Ford's service garage to see if they could at least get it rolled up. I was told it'd take an hour and it'd be $135 of labor costs. That was my first sign that this place (or maybe just the guy who was helping me) was unreasonable. An hour to get the door open and move the window up? Seemed a little too long... Being out of town, I couldn't leave the garage, so my boyfriend and I had to wait in the customer lounge. After about 30 minutes, my boyfriend went to the door to see how far they were. The car wasn't being worked on, and the window was up! So I found the mechanic and asked if he was done. He was "filling out paperwork" but apparently was done as I approached him. He told me the costs of the parts to fix it, but--again--out of town. Didn't want to waste more of my vacation at a garage and immobile. So I said no thanks. As he was taking me to the register, I asked if he was going to charge the whole hour even though it took only 30 minutes (or less. I am confidence he would have gotten us an hour later if we didn't notice the car was done beforehand.) He sighed, grunted, then said he'd cut the price down. So we ended up paying about $70 instead. I do NOT recommend going here, or at least avoid the mechanic I had. His name was Phil Englehart. read more

Service Department I feel the service department does a decent job of handling major repairs. The labor rates and parts costs will always be higher than a gas station service department, but you do get the backing of Ford factory parts and guaranties on the work being done right. So when it comes to major repairs, I will still choose to come here for service. The service team was very accommodating in driving me back to my home while my car was in the shop, then returning to pick me up later that day once the car was fixed. I did not need a loaner vehicle this time, but I would have no hesitation asking to speak to the Shop Manager about it. I believe they have an agreement with Enterprise Auto Rental and would be willing to come up with some options. read more

Freeway Ford has been our go-to place for a car since our 1968 Country Squire 47 years ago. The Lady of our house purchased a Fiesta a couple of years ago with reasonable satisfaction in 2013. She still brags that two years later she only has 2000 miles on it! This satisfaction led us back to Freeway on the occasion of grandson Jesse's graduation from college. Our surreptitious drive through the car lot was intercepted by Suzie Campbell, ace car salesperson. We stated our wishes and price, and the day after graduation Jesse and his summer bride, Hayley drove away in a 2015 black Fiesta hatchback. Not the ending of the story!
