We have lived in Garland 40 years; I live near the facility on Crist Road. I have both a storage unit and a trailer parked there. One night or early morning the trailer was stolen, and they were "ON IT". Called us in the middle of the night, showed my husband and GPD great video footage of how they broke into the gate and shows them driving off with the trailer. We were able to get the trailer back unharmed due to their quick action. When you call them, they answer the phone personally day or night. The prices are lower that the conglomerate chain on average as they save in the marketing area due to superior service, word of mouth keeps them full. They have a fair agreement plan, and do not try to lock you in a contract for a specific time frame. The business ethics alone are outstanding and again, I say this is a direct result of being a small business and the importance it has. I don't know this as fact, but I am sure that many times the owner has been approached to sell to a big national or even global company but chose not to. Tells you volumes right there; she cared more about her customers, her community, and city by not "selling out". Who knows how rich she could have been taking one of those deals. These are the OPITIME of people we want in our city. Virtue and common sense, turns out have real impact. Here are a few other reasons: Economic Impact Job creation: Local businesses are major employers. They often provide jobs to people in the community, helping reduce unemployment and boost local income. Money stays local: When you shop locally, more of your money stays in your community. Local business owners are more likely to spend their earnings locally, which keeps the economic cycle flowing. Better Customer Service Small businesses often offer more personalized, friendly service because they value their relationships with local customers. They tend to go the extra mile because their reputation in the community matters. Community Character and Identity Local businesses contribute to the unique charm and personality of a town or neighborhood. Support for Local Causes Local business owners are more likely to support schools, charities, and community events. They're often the sponsors behind local sports teams, festivals, or fundraising events. The bottom line is that locally owned businesses have a much more vested interest in the community on every level and will look out for the interest of the community over that of a national chain like Walgreens or Walmart I can't say enough good things about the personal customer service, easy terms, and fair pricing. When it got here, there was a broken window and the vent was melted. We've had it for almost a month now and twice they told us they were gonna be out here and they still haven't got out here. We chose W5 because of their five star rating in my opinion they don't deserve a five star rating. I'm sorry. But this is ridiculous. They need to get things done when they say they're gonna do it. Dwayne seemed accommodating at first but then flaked out calling me back when when i wanted someone sooner. Oh well, I waited until the original day we had scheduled..no problem. Day of, his movers were so freaking slow at unpacking...(sounds like the story of many moving companies charging hourly). They then took a break an hour in for 40+ minutes (Dwayne initially tried charging me for their break time as well). The moving guys looked like they hated life and would sometimes carry only a lampshade... I ended up helping unload to speed things up. I carried much more on single trips than any of the movers. Just so lazy in my opinion. Dwayne never showed up for the move...he just hires out other people. I asked him twice about paying him over text messages and finally got a reply that he was golfing in Florida and could not be bothered to figure this out right then. Such a bizarre company...i always have paid movers the day of right on the spot. Dwayne over a week and a half later sent me an email invoice. In all of the chaos of unpacking a long distance move, i overlooked the email. I then got a threatning text from Dwayne a couple of weeks later saying he was going to show up at my door if i didn't pay him. I was very apologetic and admitted I dropped the ball. I mailed a check out that day to the address on his invoice. Today I get another threatening text. "If I dont have my $$$ by Friday I will be at your door expecting cash not a check." I do not know if he already has his check or if his address is wrong on his invoice...or if the mail is slow because of labor day.... either way, you Don't talk to or treat customers this way. This guy is a joke of a businessman. What business threatens things like that. Stay far far away from using this horrible business. You will thank me later.

It was difficult to schedule many required services at the time due to all the uncertainty. Big D was willing to assist and we were beyond pleased with the movers. The team of three men showed up on time and were careful with our belongings, quick and extremely efficient. Friendly, yet focused on the work. They had my 1500 sq ft townhome loaded in just over an hour and unpacked at the new home in about the same time! It truly pays to have your things packed and well-labeled and to find a team like Big D.

Here is our story: Our family had a very disappointing experience with "Community Moving" while relocating my elderly parents closer to us in Lexington, Virginia. What was supposed to be a carefully planned move for two elderly parents instead became a stressful and chaotic experience that left us dealing with damaged belongings and days of additional work to sort through improperly packed boxes. We chose this company not only because it is owned by veterans, but because of the company's mission and values. These meant a great deal to my family. This was not a typical move. My dad is retired military and this is their 17th and final move. My parents are now both in their 80s, and the relocation was meant to bring them into a safer home where we could help care for them. Because of that, we spent a great deal of time speaking with the company beforehand about the size of the move and the need for careful handling of antiques, heirlooms, and fragile items. We also provided photos and videos of the home so the estimate could be as accurate as possible. Despite those preparations, the move itself was far more chaotic than we expected. The truck plan changed shortly before the move, and later, additional trucks and packing materials had to be acquired by the company. Packing did not match what we had discussed ahead of time. Some fragile items and antiques were packed in ways that caused damage, and several pieces of furniture and household items arrived broken, stress fractured and in poor condition. The labeling of boxes was also inconsistent, which made unpacking extremely difficult. Many boxes contained mixed items from different rooms or had little description of the room or contents, which meant nearly every box had to be opened and sorted before anything could be put away. Because of the condition of the packing and delivery, we had to spend several additional days reorganizing the house with the help of friends and family. This was particularly challenging given my parents' age and health, and it added significant stress during what was already an emotional transition. We did communicate our concerns to management and provided documentation, photos and videos of the issues we discovered during unpacking. While conversations took place, the outcome did not fully resolve the situation for our family. This review reflects our family's direct experience with this move and the condition of items as they were unpacked. Moving elderly parents and transporting a lifetime of belongings requires careful planning, clear communication, and attention to detail. Based on our experience, I would strongly recommend that anyone planning a large or complex move ask very detailed questions about packing methods, labeling procedures, and truck capacity before choosing a moving company. We did, but "Community Moving" fell short of our expectation. At present time, we are waiting on some resolutions with the company. We will be happy to update the review once this has been accomplished.
