It sounded like the chain was about to snap right off. I thought, better to have it checked out before I'm away from service deep in the backcountry roads and mountains. As I was pulling out of Chico, I just happened to roll by Northstate Power Sports. They told me my back sprocket was "shark-toothing" and my chain was about to go. They didn't have the part, but spent the time to call around to all the other shops to see if they could find it. Nope. So just as I was on the phone with another shop 70 miles out, Eric, one their incredible mechanics just happened to be clocking in and asked what's wrong with my KLR. I told him what he could plainly see and about the misfortune that no one near by had the part. Then he says, " I might have what you need." I'm sure I looked suspicious, but then he told me he rides a KLR and had the stock back sprocket laying around which he'd be happy to help me with if it fit. It did!! He had me back on the road in a couple hours with a fare price for labor, a smile and a restored belief that their are angels of the road out there. Thank you Eric!!

I also wanted a set of tires put on that I bought elsewhere. Sean was willing to do the rest but got rude about the tires and wouldn't install them... Cmon man, I am paying you hundreds of dollars for all of that work... you already have the wheels off to complete the other maintenance tasks...I am buying all the parts from you (except two) and paying you for the labor. I understand having principals but it sounds like he is losing more than my business over it... I'll take my money elsewhere, now and in the future.

They answered my 8746 questions patiently and I am sure I asked the same ones twice a few times. Regardless, I ended up getting the Trek 7.2 FX. They also give you some free tune ups and they gave me a free bike lock. I will be back there soon for a new seat and some other shenanigans I am sure my friends will talk me into.
