Besides,6-8 months,an Electric Bill at $3-500 each month,we can pay off the Solar in 10-15 years!!! We have a 2350 Sq. Ft. Home. Air Conditioner is our "energy hog." We have an Electric Dryer also. Without Solar,$350-500,a thermostat set @ 78 degrees,around the clock. We had Leo and Joshua the Solar Panel Installers. The "Dynamic Duo" showed up on time,early in the morning. They proceeded to get out their Solar Plans,measure for the rail mounts system,drill,and install mounting brackets,rails,seal,etc. It was a tad bit windy the install day,and it is NOT an easy task walking up a ladder,loaded down with a Solar Panel. Leo,Joshua were young,strong,gifted,intelligent, "All-Pros!" Mounts,Rails,Wiring,Solar Panels,Electric Pipe all in. "The Dynamic Duo" were finished with their portion of the job. The Freedom Solar Electrician was to set the Solar Electric Panel,finish running wire and pipe from Solar panels to new panel.And tie into existing 200 Amp Panel. From start to finish,getting HOA ,City,Perdenales permits,etc.,to getting the okay to place our Brand New Solar System "Online",2-3 Months. Thank-you Freedom Solar. I bought my system in 2019. When they sold me the system the micro inverters were from a company that went out of business in 2018. They never informed me they were installing parts from the company that is been out of business. now, six years later, I have three micro inverters not working. And they will not stand behind the 25 year warranty. And now they want to charge $100 a year to access the app. read more

Extremely Disappointed - Freedom Solar Abandoned Me Post-Sale I purchased a $50,000 solar system from Texas-based Freedom Solar in 2017, lured in by the promise of a 25-year warranty on parts and labor. At the time, that gave me peace of mind -- or so I thought. Fast forward to 2024, and the California-based manufacturer of the panels, micro inverters, and monitoring system has gone out of business. Since then, everything has changed. I'm now being charged $100 per year for system monitoring -- something that was included in my original purchase -- and worse, several of my solar panels have stopped producing electricity due to faulty micro inverters. Freedom Solar's response? A $5,000 quote to replace five micro inverters. Or, if I want to replace all of them (on my 39-panel system), a generous offer of $13,000. Keep in mind -- this is on top of the $50,000 I already paid for a system that was supposed to be warrantied for 25 years. I asked if anything could be done to reduce the cost, and the answer was a flat no. No effort to help, no accountability, and certainly no sense of customer loyalty. I began researching solar electric power in mid-2020; interviewing various companies in the San Antonio-metro area and receiving bids at the end of October 2020. Freedom Solar staff quickly convinced me the SunPower's equipment was state-of-the-art and single-sourced from one manufacturer. I was looking to offset approximately 85% of incoming power from the CPS grid during the highest usage Summer months. The Freedom Solar Rep, Pierce Adams, and I went through various configurations; 327-watt (smaller footprint) versus 415-watt (larger footprint) -- in the end selecting fewer 415-watt panels to accomplish a similar outcome. Freedom Solar completed the installation prior to Christmas 2020 and CPS Energy completed their operational certification January 8, 2021. January and February 2021 were both foggy and mostly cloudy and we did have small electric bills from CPS Energy. It has been Solar-bliss ever since; nary a CPS bill for electric from March 2021 forward. IMPORTANT NOTE: When tied to the electrical-grid, Solar power isn't available when your grid-provider cuts the inbound power; the mid-February 2020 Winter storm left us at the mercy of ERCOT and CPS with rolling power outages over 3.5 days. We subsequently added a 20 KWh natural gas-powered, whole-house backup generator. Other options could include a battery-backup to your Solar installation, which we found to be cost-prohibitive. The backup generator solution proved its mettle on February 3, 2022 as it engaged during a 6.5 hour CPS Energy outage that day. The auto-switchover & switchback is also reassuring. My lights and heat automatically resumed doing what they do. My home network reset itself within 5 - 7 minutes. I only needed to turn the TV back on (manual restart of a clothes washer, dryer, and dishwasher would also be necessary). The sales people are amazing, but the service department is horrible and doesn't care. *They "no called no showed" on the first date of install. *After my system was installed it kept on turning off. *When the issue was reported to Freedom Solar it took 2 weeks to send someone. *The technician said he could not correct the issue and said someone else would come out. *2 weeks later the same technician came out and said the same thing. *2 weeks after that, the same technician came out again and couldn't fix it! Again, he said someone else would come in 2 weeks. *To this day they don't know what's wrong with my system. If you want Solar stay away from Freedom. Company is deceiving in their sales pitch, installation may take 1 year or more, no responses to concerns. Did my research and I failed to be cautious. Not sure if their are legit Solar companies but this isn't one of them. I'm waiting going on 8 months and they have maybe 20% done. Now their finance arm wants me to start paying. I had solar panels installed on my home late last year. I assumed the proper paperwork was submitted by Sunpower to process my CPS rebate. It was not. In spite of now weekly phone calls, it still has not been submitted. When I do speak to someone, I'm told what they think I want to hear (i.e. we'll take care of that, it's being submitted, we need a form signed by you, etc.). Since I call weekly, wouldn't it be worth it for someone to actually do a follow up and see where my rebate paperwork is or tell me what else I need to do? Don't just tell the customer what you think they want to hear, confirm action before telling them. I'm beyond mildly annoyed at this point. read more

As a California and Texas homeowner for more than 20 years, I can tell you that this was my first time looking at Solar options. It was long overdue! I conducted my research and analyses on four top Texas companies by holding in-home interviews with each one of them. Of course, they all say "we're number one" over their competitors. However, we all know that there could only be ONE number one. These four Solar company representatives had their own right to claim a particular featured "edge" against the competition. The lowest bid I received from company "D" was $13,170; the highest bid from company "C" was $27,772; the other two, company "A" and company "B" fell in between those estimates. There is a three page review on this submitted to the BBB, since there isn't enough characters to leave the rest of the details here. I started the search for a solar system for our 3-year-old house. The salesman gave me his pitch and I was very transparent and honest about our situation and what we were looking for. A system to offset the electric bill and a tesla Powerwall (in particularly). He lets me know they have it for 12,700. quotes. Overall, my salesperson was absolutely fantastic every step of the way, text, email, calls and I found it very helpful that he was able to educate me on the system he is offering, pushing how great Sunpower is and how long they have been around and how they are a FAMILY. It was a whole week I spent on researching the three companies and their products. My salesperson was adamant about Sunpower, their product, their warranty, and how effective Tesla is as a company and assured me they are in stock and average 30-45 days install time! Friday night, on the phone with my salesman, he tells me not to put pressure on you, but the Tesla Powerwall is now up to 16,700, but since your proposal expires on 2/28/2021 we can honor the old price of 12,700. I am excited, a week of deliberation and research has come to an end, I believe I am investing in a company that truly has my best interest at heart, they have been in business 15 + years my salesman has been telling me story after story about how they take care of their customers. He sends me over the first batch of finance papers and it equates to the amount I listed above. I get a phone call that there is some bad news and he had selected the wrong tesla option, and the price is 16,700 for the Tesla Powerwall, but he has re did the numbers to make the bottom line close to what the original offer was. This bottom line offer was similar, but at a 1.5% APR or higher, to drop the overall price, increasing the monthly payment well over the original offer, sending it from 139.00 to well over 200.00. I started to feel very mislead and frustrated, to me it was simple, can Sunpower just honor the original quote they quoted, educated, and sold me on? I was being told for over a week this was the price and talked into sticking with them, which I was now bought into, but I had to add over 4,000.00 now into the price and more interest on a loan increasing the overall monthly payments, and overall interest I would be paying on? I down right pleaded to see if he can just honor it. I was quoted, educated by him, informed, talked up, and SOLD on that quote based on ALL the information HE gave me. He calls back, and tells me it's out of his hands, and that a manager will call me on MONDAY! I was at awe at how everything changed so drastically and now this company that is so big, tenured in the business, and family vibes, couldn't give me a call, and let the salesman try to talk me UP from what they quoted. He then said he could cancel it if I would like that better. This part was the most painful, because I have been transparent, honest, and even sent the competing proposals for him to see, and all I was asking was for them to honor a price they had educated, informed, and sold me on! I felt defeated and just moved forward with a 0.99% APR for an increase of nearly 4,000.00 on the original loan. I am hopeful I will be happy with the system, service, and Tesla Powerwall. I am just completely frustrated, saddened, and disappointed that Sunpower can't make a simple change and honor the original agreement. I understand that he selected the wrong button, but on the CUSTOMER SIDE, my side, I had no idea he selected the wrong button, we talked about these amounts for a week, he assured me this is the best system, this is a great rate, this proposal is everything that I am looking for and it is slightly more expensive but it is a great system. My salesperson was the one educating me on THEIR proposals, it would not even cross my mind that he would need to select something else. I have a Sunpower Solar system on my home. My SMA was detecting an electric arc fault and was not producing working. I called Freedom Solar and spoke with Stefan. Stefan was outstanding. He walked me through resetting the SMA over the phone. He called me back several times to check up on my system. Stefan knows solar and did an excellent job. The Pre-construction engineer did not ascertain any of the requirements with our installation and as a result the electrician could not finish the job. As of right now we are a month past our original installation and it is still not completed. We have also asked for a bill of sale to file with our taxes but calls to Destiny are unanswered and email is never returned. Amazing from start to finish! Originally I had never thought of getting solar panels because electricity in San Antonio was relatively cheap compared to where I lived previously. That in combination with the energy efficiency of my home made me wonder why I even needed solar. After being solicited by one company I decided to do my research. The one company that stuck out to me was Freedom Solar. I kept seeing 5 star reviews everywhere I looked. Couldn't find a single bad review so I decided to get a quote for a system that would produce an equal amount of power of a company that was soliciting. Surprisingly Freedom Solar had a far superior product with a superior warranty for a few hundred dollars less. The first meeting was purely an estimated quote with no pressure to sign any paperwork. This was vastly different from other companies that immediately try to pressure you into signing on the line. The second meeting was a survey of the roof to get exact information documented to make sure everything was 100% before signing for the purchase. Next was the long wait while all the documentation etc. was being done for my solar system but the time flew by due to being kept aware of every step. When installation day finally arrived the crew showed up early. The team was very courteous and got to work right away. You can tell they take pride in what they do. They took their time to make sure everything was done properly. Once the system was installed they showed me the system in its entirety. I was amazed at how they even hid the conduit on my attic because it was extremely hard for me to even see. After the system was installed Freedom Solar coordinated with CPS to get my system online the very next business day. Since the system has been installed I couldn't happier. The system is producing enough energy to cut my summer electric bills down almost nothing and allows me to track my production and usage close to real time. Overall I am very happy with my system.
