First thing, this place is NOT quite as good as the Fred's up in Plano. Just the truth. But otherwise, it's pretty darn good, with authentic cheesesteaks and great fries. The bread is what makes their sandwiches pass the test, IMO. The employees are friendly and quite nice. I've had several cheesesteaks here and not a bum one yet, all varieties are great. When my dad comes to visit me, we go to Fred's for a Philly cheesesteak. This, in my opinion, is the best Philly there is. The steak is perfectly grilled and the sandwich is perfect. The phillies are great - seriously. We love them! We also like the spicy cheesesticks and the fries. I can say without a doubt that I will never order the grilled chicken salad again, though. It was super disappointing. Just a pile of iceberg with some sandwich sliced tomatoes and a little bit of diced grilled chicken. I love cheesesteak and was craving one, so I decided to try Fred's. The service was friendly and fast. I ordered the mushroom cheesesteak to-go, but once I got it home I opened it up to find out that there was no cheese on it! So disappointing... The flavor of meat and onions are good, the mushrooms are cut up really small so they are hard to really detect. I will be willing to give them another try but I will make sure to check everything before leaving the shop. read more

We went for lunch today and ordered the #15 - Broadstreet Cheesesteak (TENDER STEAK, SAUTEED ONIONS, MUSHROOMS, BANANA PEPPERS, CHERRY PEPPERS AND CHEESE) and a bacon cheeseburger with fries. Fred's was okay but I most def prefer "Famous Philly" on Harwood to it. To sum it up in one word,,,,,,,WOW!!!!!! Take it from a Philly Native, that was the best Cheesesteak outside of Philly I have ever had. When I saw their diverse Cheesesteak menu I knew it was going to be different from most Cheesesteak shops found here in DFW. They had the kind of menu you would only find in local neighborhoods in Philly, so I tried "The Schuylkill Cheesesteak" and boy did it bring back memories.
