Hey, here is an idea: - customer wheels cart full of groceries to self check area - beside the individual checkout stand, there is a painted square - an area where all groceries in the customer's cart are detected and listed on the checkout screen for the customer to review. - customer signs off and purchases everything in the cart, then they bag the items without having a meltdown. read more

The customer service and employees are nice. But grocery store is very grimy and disorganized and walking around to shop is a VERY hostile experience because of the neighborhood having a lot of struggles like homelessness and feeling run down and quite strange. Worst Customer service ever. Went to pick up an order that I paid for, and they said it was out of stock. They claimed that they tried to call me, but there is no record of it on my phone. No text or email. So they apparently didn't try too hard. They were also out of stock of pretty much anything else I might have wanted to buy as well. And the crappy music is at earsplitting levels. So it was an unpleasant waste of an hour of my life. Avoid this location like the plague. The one on 45th street is better, if you have to go to Fred Meyer. Finally when I got home, I couldn't see any order status so called to get a refund and was put on infinite hold (well, I gave up after 20 minutes.) Did their chat agent and it said I wouldn't be charged (why should I believe that) and that I should place the order again. I asked if they could deliver the item to my house and she said couldn't do anything besides file a case with her management. I asked if the other store that supposedly had it in stock could deliver it for me and she said no, I needed to re-order it myself. So much for their corporate customer service. read more

I'm torn between a 3-4. Previously I would have given them a solid 4, but since several stores have closed in the area for various reasons, they are struggling keeping up with the business. Items frequently being sold out and out of stock. They have things we need regularly, most things we want. The prices are great. Ellen in the meat department has always been amazing. Also they are very clean, have a great location with great parking. Deli department has been not great and I go to QFC instead. Not attentive staff prioritizing customers, not practicing basic cleanliness such as gloves hands or using tongs to open the inside of a bag. Requesting thin sliced and getting whatever preset they have it on. The list goes on so I go elsewhere. My big beef with this store (and why I previously would not have given them a 5/5) is they never have enough checkers. It's gotten a bit better in the evening recently, but the mornings are hard. Moms fill up their meal prep carts after kids go to school or daycare during the school year and 1 checker. The rely heavily on self checkout and have 1 person available if you experience challenges or error messages. read more

This would be 5 stars except whenever I go, I always end up with too many things in my cart. Yesterday I went to buy bread and came back with disco lights! What the heck, Freddy's? I think they've corrupted my brain, because that's the only reason I can come up with as to why I act so irrationally in this store. Also, the escalator is pretty much always broken, and I can't seem to avoid seeing at least 5 people I know. I'm typically in my pajamas and don't want to be subject to my daughter's teacher's dentist's overly-chipper "hello!" This is the local big box store. I can get everything here and usually do. I find that the produce is usually better than Safeway and there's a much wider selection of organic products. And, of course, the fact that I can pick up new socks, a set of sheets, and asparagus in the same building is a bonus. The store is usually well kept and adequately staffed but can get crowded and chaotic on weekends. read more

I feel silly writing a yelp review for a chain supermarket. However, I feel strongly towards this particular Fred Meyer's location as it is literally the biggest Fred Meyer I have ever seen in my life! Two floors that span out for what seems like miles! Not only that, but the store was generally clean (can't say that about the Safeway nearby). Lots of parking to accommodate busy times and friendly service as well. This location carries more organic and sustainable options than most regular grocers, which is one of the main reason why I love it. Check it out sometime. I went to the grand opening of the new Fred Meyer to service the Greenwood neighbourhood. To say it was bedlam would be truth BUT every single employee that I encountered was friendly, helpful, and went that extra mile for customers. I mention the latter because a cashier ran to grab a pack of seltzer water when I forgot. Parking lot was full and they expect to be busy for the next two weeks easy. I'll check them out again to see if they continue to earn their high rating. For now though, it's an easy five-star from me. read more

Fred Meyer is back open, folks! I repeat, Fred Meyer is open on 85th and 8th again! The space is HUGE, pristine, and offers tons and tons of parking. There are ample check out lines and short aisles that are easy to navigate. I like the idea of a "family friendly" lane, but the only difference seems that they stock the endcaps there with more $hit geared toward kids (coloring books, silly string) and the lane is wider. The bad is that some checkers seem to be relatively new, so are a bit slower to do their job (are you really going to grab things from beyond the guy who is checking out's little plastic barrier, thereby keeping me from putting my groceries onto the belt for fear of mixing with the lady in front of me? Really?) but are pretty friendly. As is the bad with all gigantic box stores, it is hard to find what you are looking for and seems a bit haphazardly laid out. Produce seems decent and prices were on par with Safeway / other grocery stores. read more

I've missed this Fred Meyer. I loved that it was fairly low-key and always had lots of parking. Well, I'm not sure but it seems like the easy parking days are over, at least for right now. Like other portions of the Greenwood neighborhood, Fred Meyer has been updated. It's familiar enough for me to recognize it as Fred Meyer but a little different. The re-opening was on February 1st. Opening weekend was crazy! Special events, giveaways, and demos galore! My favorite was the Tillamook Cheese Baby Loaf van, which is just my size. For those of you who don't know me, I'm quite short. Along with all the festivities, there were great coupons, the Seafair Pirates, Tony the Tiger and more. Having lived around here for awhile, I was always confused as to why there wasn't any food at this location. Problem solved! I've already tried the sushi, which is not part of Freddy's but a small business that rents the space. I tried the demo and ended up buying a Dragon roll, which I had them make fresh. It was really good! As far as shopping, I'll need to get used to a few things. Most of the aisles are typically straight. Some of them, like the natural food section, is angled and not intuitive in terms of how you navigate them. The bakery, seafood, and meat sections are clean, new, and stocked with tons of stuff! One of my favorite things about shopping there last week, was that I recognized some of the staff from before. The store has been closed for awhile so I appreciated seeing some familiar faces. I like how the registers are arranged, providing the "leap frog" model that target uses, as opposed to single registers with one long line. I hope things calm down. The one downside of such a new, fancy store is that everyone wants to go there. I don't enjoy shopping places where it takes me 15 minutes to find a parking spot (unless it's 99 Ranch on the weekend). read more

There are advantages of in Greenwood, one of which is the Fred Meyer. Yes, there was one a kid brother store, which didn't even have food, it was dark, and was in need of some love. That kid has grown up and here lies the next evolution of the Fred Meyer. A huge organic food section, vegetables and great looking deli, lots of cheeses!!! The have a Murry Cheese Monger here, and for those who don't know, they are the people to ask about cheese.. experts I'd say, and because of that, it instantly becomes the coolest place on the block. You can't make fun of this location anymore, in fact if you do, let me know so I can lay some verbal smack down on your candy self.. and find some appreciation. Seriously the remodel has made this location accessible and just plain awesome, if you need any of your household needs, you won't be disappointed. read more

I was enthralled with the size of this store. A huge selection of almost any item you could name and two stories to boot! A fun place to browse but I found it tiresome to do ordinary grocery shopping in an efficient manner due to its expansive size. I will always be a fan of "Fred's" because of it's "one stop" shopping. but I prefer the smaller locations for everyday grocery items. read more

Oh boy do I got time today....leaving a 3 star review as I had a horribly rude interaction with an individual (initials: AJ if a store manager even checks Yelp and sees this) in the delivery section upon picking up. Two bags of frozen items in the delivery area were left when we came to pick up the first time and then she proceeded to tell me "It's not her problem" that I had to drive back a second time to retrieve them. All she had to do was just apologize and call a manager for me but instead I got lip service and she unfortunately put a target on her back. ‍ 3 stars since Ian the manager on duty and the ultimate store manager restored my faith in Fred Meyer and gave me a gift card for the inconvenience so shoutout to them. It is very much appreciated, however, I sincerely encourage you to ask the delivery employees to double check your order should you choose to pick up your items or just don't even bother with delivery in the first place. read more

When reviewing a grocery store, it's hard to work out what to say. Fred Meyer is even worse. It's like a cross between Safeway and J C Penney's, but not as good as either. In the grocery store, you get all the national brands, but it's fairly pedestrian otherwise. You have clothing and bedding departments, but - again, I'd have a hard time saying something positive about them. It's a slightly more upscale Walmart. Except it is cheap. This particular Fred Meyer is cleaner than most I've been into, and it has ample parking. I came in for new pillows, and they have several different sorts at reasonable prices. I also picked up a nice flannel sheet set that was on sale (and reasonably priced even when it isn't on sale). Staff on the floor were non existent. However, finding someone to pay for the goods was easy. However, there are several things (storage, bedding) that are just plain cheaper here. Thus I end up going to a Fred Meyer once every couple of months. This one is the closest to my house and is one of the better ones in the area. read more

I just left this store willing to spend almost $200 because the downstairs check out woman was extremely unhelpful. I asked here if the prices showing up had the sale price included. She just stared at me for a moment and said she didn't know and when I asked if I could go check the prices the said nothing, gave a sigh and picked up the phone. I would give zero stars if I could. This Fred Meyer has snowballed downhill for years. The remodel is a joke. Nothing makes any sense. You can't find anything. What's worse is, since the beginning of the pandemic, certain shelves sit empty for weeks. The lunch meat section has been nearly empty for 2 weeks. They can't seem to get merchandise. Other stores don't have this problem. We've started going to Walmart Neighborhood Market in Lynnwood to pick up most of our groceries. Their shelves haven't been empty. Walmart's prices are better, too. It's a shame we have to drive to Lynnwood for groceries when Fred Meyer is 5 blocks from our home but it has become an unreliable store. We've been shopping there for 16 years but they won't get as much of our money moving forward. read more

Two years ago I would have rated them at 4 stars, but the last two years have been a steady decrease in quality on multiple fronts. First, the produce selection now is regularly under stocked or stocked with only stale produce remaining. Second, they have either understaffed or are poorly organizing/managing their existing staff such that there is always a wait to get deli goods (even with no one in line there are many times between 9-5 where there are no employees at the deli, fish or meat counters and it takes more than 5 minutes to track someone down to help me purchase their goods). Third, pride in their store appearance and customer service experience. Multiple items are past expiration dates and on a couple occasions I have reported it only to see the same item still present as much as a week later. Too many of the employees are disgruntled and no longer customer centric (probably because management is no longer employee focused). Evidence of this is everywhere, from cashiers on cell phones at their station while customers wait for them to actually scan items to abandoned stations to open discussion of how bad FM management is and what grocery stores are better employers. Fourth,the remodel has been poorly handled across numerous aspects. They've reduced the parking so much that a large portion of the spots are filled by employees and there just isn't enough parking at any time of day. They have rearranged things (normal for a remodel) but in some cases they have changed where items are as many as 5 or 6 times (terrible customer experience). They have not made any attempt to provide regular updates to their customers on where stuff has moved. Having shopped here weekly for the last 10 years (at an avg of about $200 a week), it's been hard to watch them decline so precipitously and with seeming indifference. The management needs significant overhaul. To be clear though, there are some amazing employees there who are doing an amazing job under unfair conditions. These employees are service oriented, they take time to offer help, they project enjoyment in what they do. Having come from the service delivery side of business, I appreciate these standout employees. read more

Hit or miss customer service. Usually a miss. If I'm in just in there browsing, I usually get LP or other associates following me for the remainder of my trip. Thanks guys for the self esteem boost, apparently I look like a shoplifter! No, I work in retail. That is for all Fred Meyers, some are better than others. Especially insulting because of the thousands of dollars I've spent on they're (often) overpriced stuff. Sometimes they have great sales, but it doesn't make up for the fact I get treated like a criminal almost every time I walk in. Stop profiling people! I work in retail and I see you following me, talking on your walkie talkies (even had one ridiculous LP pretend to try on little girl shirts so he could have a reason to be next to me....) At a previous store I've seen workers get attacked just for following people. Don't put your workers at risk. Plus to the employees, don't put yourself in harms way, you never know if someone will snap on you, and it's just not worth it. Corporate writes their losses off come tax season. You guys are unionized and get paid well, my friend used to work at one- retail is hard and draining and can suck... but don't take it out on the customer. You might hate your job, but it could be so much worse, for a retail job. read more

However, it seems like the remodel is very recent (within the last couple of months) - so it took over a decade to update the store. They did a great job - it looks alot like a Whole foods (in the grocery section) and their prices are about the same as Whole Foods. Ugh. This used to be a neighborhood store, but it's been "Krogered" into an unrecognizable mess. What did a million-dollar renovation bring? Removal of the oven from the prepared food section (they can't cook anything in-store now, it's all trucked in and warmed). Disorganized shelving upstairs with three aisles of beans, sauces, veggies, fruit, and other things crammed into a "canned foods" section. Many many local and mid-range brands replaced with Kroger low-end stuff and one high-end option. Shoes next to the pet food. Starbucks way off in a corner, nowhere near the entrance. Auto and plumbing rearranged downstairs with no inventory sense of consistency or completeness, only popularity of what moves. (Hint to corporate: You're not a specialty store. If you stock 10mm wrenches because they're common, but not 9mm or 12mm, eventually no one will think of you for tools. Same goes for apples and pears.) Worst of all, they replaced a half-dozen checkout lanes with even more self-checkout kiosks, but the lines are NEVER shorter. Staff sadly reports the self-fulfilling situation that 70%+ of customer transactions are now thru the unstaffed lanes. If no one's going to help me, why would I ever come here to have the self-checkout experience Amazon can give me at a lower cost without leaving home? It's sad to see this place fall down, but even my kids say it's just another mid-states Safeway-lookalike now. read more

Yesterday, August 29th 2017 with my sister to drop off a prescription. While we waited we went to go order a sandwich from the deli. The lady making the sandwiches was wearing gloves. I ask her if she could throw the bag I had that fell onto the floor. She took it from me with her gloves on. She went right back to making sandwiches. She dis not change her glove. Side rant to start us off: When I was in retail, the awful company I worked for (starts with a W) had a customer first attitude in very few areas but one was their parking lot. Staff weren't allowed to park in the premium spots near the store to allow better spots for our customers which I think makes sense, right?. Maybe it's just me. Anyway ... I was very excited when this Fred Meyer was remodeled a few years back to offer grocery. I promptly switched all of my food needs to them and it was great ... for a while. Recently things haven't been so fantastic. I provided feedback regarding a service issue which I had at the deli (received the standard corporate template reply back but nothing from store management like I asked) and so I've taken all the business I can elsewhere. There are still a few things I can't get from Amazon, though, which is why I stopped in to Fred Meyer today. Today, I struggled to find parking in the garage as it was an early afternoon on a Saturday and fall has arrived. This store has an issue where they like to toss old racks, shelves, carts, etc. out in to their garage parking lot. Several of the spots is a forever home of various rubbish, shopping carts full of retired displays, you name it. Not only does it look like hell, but it takes up space that could be used for the intended purpose of parking. Anyway, like many other days, one spot, I noticed, was taken up by one of their in-store loss prevention employees. I've asked management about their policy to allow their staff to park in these premium spots before (I won't out this employee's license plate, but saying that it is a grey Mustang is pretty generic, yeah?) and again, no response from this from store leadership. Fine. I parked outside in the rain and trudged inside for the one thing I couldn't get from Amazon today. I get back to the bakery to the croissants; very long story short, I left empty handed. I'm not sure who was in charge of baking today, but I feel like they got a little distracted. It's always a crap shoot how they turn out Fred Meyer, but these were a little more toasty than I'd have liked. Some had black spots on them, but the majority of them were just a wheat-toast brown. color. Thank you, but no. I haven't yet provided feedback and I probably won't. It seems that issues like this go unanswered to store management and that's fine with them and now me. I get that it seems like I complain a lot, and perhaps I do, but I also shop every single day. When you're in a business as often as I am, you can see what they are capable of and when the standard drops. Anyway, I can't do this anymore, I'm done wasting my time there. They no longer have a department store like clothes selection. It is now just their sweatshop label of uninspired drab comically called "dip." The food selection and quality has also gone downhill. Another example of what happens when PNW companies are bought by corporations and watered down. Freddy Kroger lives. The picture I took of the entrance garbage pretty much sums up the state of this store and franchise - overflowing with trash. However the prolonged remodeling of the store which has reconfigured where all the items are is getting to be too much especially when they're still not even properly staffed in the checkout lines and the weights are extremely long. I would give no stars if possible. Stay away from online pick up. Got a confirmation email in the morning that my order was ready and by later in the day the order was canceled. Sarah from online said all she could say was "sorry ". She could not help me locate at another store so the best she could do was transfer me to customer service. I rented a carpet cleaner from this location and when I got it home found that it was filthy, with wads of hair behind the brush and with the filter so clogged I could get no suction -- I had to take it out (not an easy process) and scrub it with a toothbrush to get it clean. And when mentioned this when I took it back, I didn't even get an apology from the store staff. read more

I did read that note full of lies you scrawled about me and I did rip it to shreds and I did scream my head off about it and---yep--I punched a clock and broke a finger and I DID spread mustard all over your picture but that was so long ago. We're older now. The reason I am not fond of you these days is that you are too large and clumsy and disorganized and your goods are spread out all over the place. Every time I stop over I have to hike up or down an escalator and wade through 3rd rate books and sad-looking balloons and tread miles, pulling a hamstring trying to track down an immersion blender and some coconut oil and a bag of jax. It was great when they first opened many months ago. Gradually they keep eliminating the stock of more and more things which I became reliably accustomed to finding there. Week by week the diminished stock keeps providing me with more reasons to go back to Ballard Market. Except for the helpful meat, fish and great cheese department folks, the customer service has gotten worse and worse, too. The cashiers are terrific, too. However, I really hate it when you ask someone on the floor staff where I might find a specific item and they reply, "I don't know," or, "That's not my department," and then speedily turn on their heels and walk away or they stare at you with a really helpless look on their face until I suggested to them that perhaps their supervisor might be able to help us both out - DUH! At first they were bending over backwards to assist us on the floor but now they have been open for several months and seem to have a regular following it seems they really can't be bothered. I have filled out customer service review cards and NEVER received a phone call or reply email about my request, inquiry or complaint. The folks at the customer service kiosk don't seem to care much either and won't act upon finding out anything unless you really insist. They like to hand you a customer service card to fill out. That I have done several times and no one EVER contacted me. That's a lot of pretty lame customer service. read more

I do MOST of my shopping here, however, I am looking forward to the Target which will open in Ballard. This FM store is understaffed ... the hot food section is extremely slow, they usually only have one checker downstairs and it's usually someone new who has to call for assistance, etc. I park down there because the parking in main lot is awful. Also the down escalator for carts seems to be permanently broken. I wish management would do a better job. If it weren't a one stop shop for me I'd go elsewhere. read more

I love Fred Meyer, but this one is the worst in town so skip it. 1. It's not technically a "grocery store", even though they carry some limited grocery items in the Natural section. What was originally a "wow - a Fred Meyer is here so I won't have to make an extra trip into Ballard" became an extra hour wasted of my day. 2. No directory or directions. Anywhere. Not at the entrance, the elevators, the escalator. This means I wandered around confused and trying to figure out where the produce and grocery areas were, made even more annoying by the fact that they grocery flyers are right at the entrance. 3. The youngish (22-25?) male customer service supervisor should either NOT chew gum on the sales floor or close his mouth while doing so. It was seriously disgusting. I never *truly* understood the meaning of "chewing cud" until he smacked his lips noisily while talking to customers and coworkers, showing his entire mouth and tongue the whole time. GROSS. read more
