Emergency Shopping for a carry-on luggage this Thursday night, my sister recommended me to go to TJ Maxx. She is such a bargain and knows where to get goodies without paying too much. After dinner, we went there just 30 minutes before the store closed. There's a section full of luggage and bags. We were there for 10 minutes and decided what I should get. Plus, we also moved to the shoes section and tried on several pairs of shoes. The end of my shopping at TJ Maxx, I bought a carry-on luggage, Swiss (it matches my backpack) for $39.99. I was really happy! Though, the store can get a bit messy. I would try to go the first thing in the morning when they open and less shoppers around.

I love Michael Kors and Coach handbags that are reduced and still authentic.

I have no clue on what happened to Northgate. I used to love this cozy alley way of a mall and it…read morewas vibrant and rich with diversity in shops and clientele. The kiosks were fun and it was one of the only places I could get a watch chrystal replaced. JC Penney's used to be cool and the smell of Ivars, Subway, Taco Bell and Panda Express brought back the 90's nostalgia of cd's and getting new kicks. Fast forward to 2025 and the indoor mall has been closed for a long time. The only thing left is a shell of Red Robin's, Nordstrom Rack, and the outside businesses such ad chipotle AT and T and Barnes and Nobles. I was reminiscing on Blue Finn buffet, Azteca and Bed Bath. I guess there's lots of remodeling going on and the Kraken ice rink is built which draws a different vibe. It feels more disjointed as a mall and more of a huge lot with random businesses that are mismatched. Target across the way is still going strong but the crime in that area is high. I miss the old Northgate and the community vibe it attracted.

It's a great alternative for indoor play space in the small play area at one end of the mall, but can get busy and the older children have a tendency to plow into the smaller ones.

Today, March 16, 2026 at about 3 pm, I picked and used a self-checkout but when I attempted to pay…read morethe cash option did not show. I had not seen any indication beforehand that this station would not accept cash. When a woman employee, about 30, dark hair, and about 5' or so tall, came over to help I explained and she said there was a message on the screen. I've been told this before so since then have carefully looked over the screen of any self-checkout I use but never see the message. Today I was told that after I scan my Fred Meyer card it will show. So when done I swiped my card again and indeed a message to the effect that the checkout stand did not accept cash did flash on the screen. I say flash, and I mean flash - I am sure it was there for about 1/2 second, on the upper left side of the screen, then it was gone. I tried to contact the woman employee again to let her know that the message flashes so fast that unless you happen to be looking right at that part of the screen as you swipe your card - and who does - you will miss it - just so she may be aware and not so emphatic that there is a message that everyone can see - well, not really unless you literally catch it as it flashes on, then off. As I approached her she recognized me and even before I could get out more than two or three words said that it was all settled and she didn't want to hear all about it again and turned her back and walked away. Who wouldn't think this a flippant and rude response to someone trying to inform her the no cash message is nearly impossible to see before it disappears - maybe she could speak to management, maybe have it changed to appear longer - or just be helpful in some way given the unreasonable situation. But no. She couldn't be bothered and was dismissive. Left me feeling as if I'd done something wrong trying to inform her of something that could use a remedy to be more fair to customers. Generally employees there are friendly and helpful. So this was a bit of a shock. Dismissing someone trying to help or inform about an issue is not professional. Perhaps she was just having a bad day. But is that a good reason to rudely dismiss a customer trying to point out an issue to an employee that is negatively affecting customers? My given star rating is 3 because I like the store and the employees, and perhaps the person I dealt with today was just off, but even at that there was an issue that Fred Meyer should be made aware of and point out to their employees. Thank you.

The staff were so happy and enjoyed doing this - it was the kick off for their spring plants.

I was greeted by a nice friendly man who gave me some info about the place and pointed out that the majority of the items are in the back rooms. This place is deceptively large. It's a bit messy in the back but there is a little bit of everything here. He also told me some items were new and didn't have prices on them but to ask if I wanted to know. I'd rather have items labeled so I can see if it's a good deal or not. I hate to ask each time I look at an item. Overall, it's a small business in a sus part of Seattle that frankly needs some more legitimate businesses. I even found a cool little Squidward stuffie that I purchased. I'll be back one day to check it out again.

As you walk through the store there is a room which often has 90's jams on. This room has more clothing and on the left side there are kids toys and sometimes bikes. It does feel like an estate sale/goodwill outlet vibe as some things are organized but also kinda random. The layout reminds me of a flea market in an another country. Unlike Out of the Closet and Lifelong in which you know the exact price of a record or a vintage binocular here you have to ask. I think this is part of the thrill of the search but also asking yourself how much you want to pay for this. Service is good and staff are chill and laid back. If you're around Lake city I would encourage stopping in. It's a nice refresher from the dated xxx shop next door, drug deals happening outside, and fentanyl slumps you see.
