Not sure if it's management or what . There is no longer a pick up counter, so instead, you have to wait in a long line of people who are checking out to pick up your order that you've already paid for . The cashiers are working as fast as they can, but there was about 35 people in line in front of me today and again a week and a half ago when I was there . Please bring back the pick up counter !! I was greeted by a nice friendly man who gave me some info about the place and pointed out that the majority of the items are in the back rooms. This place is deceptively large. It's a bit messy in the back but there is a little bit of everything here. He also told me some items were new and didn't have prices on them but to ask if I wanted to know. I'd rather have items labeled so I can see if it's a good deal or not. I hate to ask each time I look at an item. Overall, it's a small business in a sus part of Seattle that frankly needs some more legitimate businesses. I even found a cool little Squidward stuffie that I purchased. It does feel like an estate sale/goodwill outlet vibe as some things are organized but also kinda random. The layout reminds me of a flea market in an another country. Unlike Out of the Closet and Lifelong in which you know the exact price of a record or a vintage binocular here you have to ask. I think this is part of the thrill of the search but also asking yourself how much you want to pay for this. Service is good and staff are chill and laid back. If you're around Lake city I would encourage stopping in. It's a nice refresher from the dated xxx shop next door, drug deals happening outside, and fentanyl slumps you see.

So, here is the pants story. My stepmother is animate about needing pants for my father. My…read morebrothers all have tried to purchase pants for him. These purchases do not meet my stepmothers expectations. I bought him pants, unfortunately they do not meet her requirements. She is increasingly frustrated with these purchases, saying he needs immediate help. My father historically couldn't care less about pants. She has made several calls to me, explaining there is a pants crisis and he has nothing to wear. So, I took him to several places to find pants. He needs 29 length, which most places do not carry. A bit of a back story, my father hates any clothing that is nice. My mother tried purchasing fashionable clothing for my father. He refused to wear her purchases. My stepmother is now trying to upgrade his clothing. At 93, he prefers to wear shorts. So, after trying many stores, we come to Men's Warehouse. We are met with the kind help of Mr. T. He is so helpful in selecting pants for my father. I try to stay in the background, as his wife has deliberate standards for pants. After two hours, one pair of pants is deemed acceptable. These are hemmed to 29 length. So happy for a solution to the pants crisis. Unfortunately, she calls me several weeks later. The custom pants are unacceptable to her. She wishes to return the pants and find a more appropriate pair. Oh no. I am embarrassed to go back to Men's Warehouse after their helpful services. I do take them both back to Men's Warehouse. As my stepmother is very adamant about pants, I let her navigate the pants situation. She comes to me, after being helped. She is unhappy. Several pairs of pants are appropriate for my father. Unexplainable, she refuses the 20.00 feet to hem them. And, they cannot return the altered pants. My father has mobility issues at this stage of life. Meaning, it is difficult to come outside his retirement home. Probably one of the saddest moments in my life, his total confusion at the entire pants transaction. He couldn't believe that we were leaving without a pants purchase. I tried to explain to him that his wife did not approve the suggested pants recommendations. Mr. T was so helpful and positive throughout these encounters. He took an incredible amount of time helping them. He was kind to me, acknowledging my discomfort about the situation. He was the positive note in these several transactions. Thank you Mr. T for all of your help.

I heard that sales clerks at this store's employment is based on meeting a quote on how many new customer sign up for the company credit card! in this day n age this is highly unacceptable in so many ways. out side the fact that retail stores have high interest rates. Once the item was finally found, she proceeded to lecture me about not using my mom's phone number for transactions. When I asked her to please just process the refund and skip the lecture, she repeatedly called me rude to my face and then continued to loudly call me rude to her coworkers as I walked out the door. No other employee intervened. Highly disappointing customer service.

Two employees were stocking shelves and having the most wholesome convo about the holidays and their family... once I was done shopping one of those employees, Taj, saw me headed towards the register and he greeted me and it just got better. We had a great chat about winter in Seattle (we are both transplants) and it was such a refreshing interaction. Taj is the epitome of what good customer is. You don't have to be fake or sickeningly sweet, you just have to be real. Taj was at once relatable and enviable. His great attitude will boost me for the rest of the day. Be like Taj.

However, I've been eyeing the grand opening of the new Daiso in Bitter Lake/North Seattle. It is located around the corner from Aurora Donuts and diagonal from Amazon Fresh, Ulta, and Planet Fitness. There's a shared parking lot and of course, located along Aurora so available via the Metro Rapid Ride E bus route. On the way to Ballard, I decided to swing by around 11:30am and check out this new location (6/1/24). It was nice to wander the aisles and look at a variety of items: plushies, kitchen/household goods, home/desk decor, personal care items, stationary, stickers, office supplies, storage items, crafting items, food items like ramen bowls, assorted bottled and canned beverages, teas, snacks, sweets, ad naseum. Pro tip: yes, it's a block away from Office Depot. But why have staid office supplies and stationary? When you can have fun and unique items instead from Daiso! The only line I saw was for the checkout, which was "terrible" because it allowed me to gawk at closely at potential impulse items, lol. The front counter was very efficient with upbeat staff, so not much of a wait. I managed to spend over $30, so I was given a grand opening goodie bag upon leaving. It actually had several useful items which was shared with The Homie. He's the one who introduced me to Daiso originally. Daiso may become my new retail therapy for budget minded shoppers.
