Besides carrying beautiful potted plants, healthy produce, and fresh flowers, the snacks, greeting cards, and grocery items are a must visit! Right now, this location in Ballard has a lot of peach-colored mini cooler bags. I also got the mini mochi crunch balls for my sister. Since I was there, a bottle of chocolate almond milk and summer rolls were my breakfast! 94053 is the current code for the restroom... LOL! You can rely on a clean restroom for customers... and great service from all employees! By the way... if you find the hidden plushie (Eldingar), you'll get a special treat. It was nice meeting Dennis (TJ Cashier) & Tim (SIFF Promoter) here today. We found the items we wanted and checked out within the hour we had left before we made our way to the airport and flew home. Anywho, this place is BUSY. But it was like everyone knew where the needed to go for things. If not, you could start from the right side of the store and make your way to the left and cash out. It's simple. Now, maybe this is something worth looking into because of the organization of everything. WE, however, did NOT know how to shop here. It's always a pleasant surprise when you stumble honey, trader, Joe's and this one is exception. It's your typical chaotic small grocery store but they have plenty of parking due to the structure and it's really nice that it's also next to PCC in case you can't find anything. Love the ambiance and the service is always top-notch when you go to trader Joe's. This Trader Joe's is part of the Blocks development so it isn't like a standalone - strip mall one so it stands out a bit. Beyond that it has all the things you know and love about Trader Joe's. What I do like about this one is certain sections have nice decorative signage that may make you smile but also draws you over to it. Lots of TJ's have this sure but not all of them and their all different. The hummus section and the wine section (two of my favorite sections) have cool signage. The staff here are alright, other TJ's they're very enthusiastic, sometimes too much so. Here seems all business ranging from 'let me get you outta here, cash or card?' to 'mildly interested in my day.' in another words a little ice breaking is welcomed, but don't feel it much here. Lastly it just feels more cramped here, but they all have that kind of feel. We live in Hawaii where there are no Trader Joe's, so if we can stop by a TJ's when we're visiting the mainland, it's supposed to be a treat and chance to stock up on snacks. We did indeed get many great snacks but the two checkout clerks were not at the normally enthusiastic TJ's employee level we normally see. Not directly TJ's fault, but our van also got a $60-something parking garage ticket, at the Ballard Blocks parking garage because a front tire was on (not over) the parking stall line. read more

What a pleasant place to shop! All the staff are very helpful, and a couple are absolutely spectacular Just before Thanksgiving, I asked about a particular type of wine. They didn't have any when I asked, but just a few days ago, there it was. Every time I ask a staffer where I can find something, they immediately drop whatever they're doing, and either lead me to the spot, or go to the nearest terminal to check if they even carry the item anymore. read more

This is my favorite grocery store. Things are priced just right. I prefer getting fresh cut flowers from here because of the price and the quality. The produce is of great quality as well. Do try their salad kits which are delicious. They also have ready to eat meal kits. I'm actually reviewing the parking at TJ's Ballard. Ballard is representative of the socialist heaven that is Seattle. We went to TJ and tried to park. No handicapped parking with direct access to the store. Elevator out of order. Stairwell occupied by addicts and impassable. Neighborhood packed with tents, broken down motor homes and concrete blocks to prevent parking. We could not get into the store! Shop there if you're able bodied and good at ignoring or fending off these unfortunate people. read more

There's a extremely heavy plastic toxic like smell leeching off from the dressing packaging onto the salad, I can literally smell the toxicity of the weird toxic plastic of the dressing container and when I remove it I can also smell it on the food. The same thing happened with your cranberry packaging for dried cranberries and I also noticed the texture of the plastic for your orange juice container organic and the carrot juice organic feel slippery to the touch and I think you guys are not using quality plastic containers that are BPA free and or toxin free hence why this is a repeated problem that's leeching onto the food. read more

So, besides the fact that it's a well stocked and organized Trader Joe's, I have to give this store kudos for having some awesome staff. My clumsy self tripped and fell on the way there, to the point where I had to go wash off the blood in the bathroom. The cashier offered to throw out the paper towel I kept on my hand to cover the cut on my hand, and when I explained what happened she said the front desk should have bandaids. Sure enough they gave me an alcohol pad and bandaid that helped a lot. I never expect stores to go out of their way like that, and this was surely appreciated. read more

I come here all the time and most checkers are awesome but today I had my hands full with kids and a dog and the lady bagged all my groceries in one paper bag and it split open before I could even get to my car. Really really shocked. It was packed full. Please make them double bag. I'll pay for it. Super disappointed. I really wanted to take the time to write this review because, as someone with a lot of anxiety amidst the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, I had such a refreshing experience shopping at this Trader Joe's, and I am so grateful! As someone who continues to practice social distancing to the best of my abilities, I had started to avoid grocery stores and attempted grocery delivery. While I'm sure it's helpful for some, I'm a bit pickier about my options at the grocery store, and wasn't too satisfied with my first experience. However, I'd heard from a few friends who live in Ballard as well that Trader Joe's was practicing great social distancing precautions, especially by limiting the amount of people in the store. Music to my ears!!! I was able to peruse available options without the anxiety of too many people crowding around me, maskless individuals, or feeling rushed to leave due to the looming anxiety. Thank you, Trader Joe's, for your consistent and excellent customer service, and for keeping our safety and health in mind during these unprecedented times. This is a large, large Trader Joe's. Huge! Like big enough so there can be 2 carts passing in each aisle! As with most TJ's, produce and uncooked meats are a crapshoot. But, who can say no to all of the other delicious treats! Also, free parking! read more

From now on, this is totally worth the bus trips for getting some munchies. The bus stops aren't even too far. This is a message to come here more often, oh yeeah. :) You can take bus 17 or 15 and walk a few blocks, i think more serve it, too. It looks awesome, cool design, has some great items (good chips with potassium & C, to boot), and great eco-friendly business. Also situated opposite corner of The Counter, so you can shop after you eat (or vice versa), like I did. I would get other stuff, like milk, but it's too much of a hassle for the bus trips back to my car. read more

Shopping at TJ's is convenient, fast, and healthy options compared to Albertsons or Safeway. Produce, meats, dairy and cheese sections offer fresh products. Great variety, always something new to try out and still find the regular items without walking miles of isles as compared to large grocers. Service is prompt and friendly. Oh yes, one gets to the coffee and samples through the day. TJ's is constantly bringing fresh, local and seasonal options in every category. Every Trader Joe's I've been to has had a happy staff and great customer service. Today I went to This Ballard location and received the best service I've ever had at a grocery store. (I've always received amazing personal service at this location.) Today Erin went out of her way to help me out. It felt more like neighbors helping neighbors than a transaction. I love that the management at this store seems to support the staff in being good people and doing good deeds. I remember having been crying over some very bad news and the cashier spontaneously gave me some flowers -!! The sample section is usually such a pleasant experience it's worth going in, even if you didn't really need to do shopping - and you'll find something tasty to buy! I would love it if the veggies had less packaging and more gluten free items all over the store, especially in freezer section (like wontons and chicken nuggets without wheat), but the dairy free cream cheeses and milks are great! Also they have the best most innovative selection of chips/snacks there are! PCC just moved in around the corner and since they seem to have become more corporate and less people-centered in their approach to customers, I'm pledging my allegiance to Trader Joe's. I live in Ballard and was oh so happy when they built this in the hood. No more taking the bus to the U District. Should have written this long ago. They planned this out well near main bus lines though most of the time I'll walk to and from Market street. There is a large parking lot with entrances and exits from both sides. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Items are usually fairly easy to find and the aisle are nice and wide. Love their floral area usually walk away with well prices succulent or bouquet. read more

Honestly I'm not one to give out 5 stars, but Trader Joe's as a whole is just awesome. Sure you could find more of a selection at other stores, but they have everything I need at a reasonable price. Quality: 5/5 I have never had an issue with the quality of their produce or their meat. Variety: 4/5 because it's a smaller grocery store they don't have everything you can dream of. Their fresh seafood is limited but the have a lot of frozen options. Service: 5/5 not sure I've been to a place filled with nicer or more helpful staff members Price: 5/5 even their organic produce and all natural meats are reasonable. All in all I truly LOVE this place and I love that you get the same product and service whether you are in Los Angeles or Seattle. read more

Couple recent discoveries at TJs: -- Yay: Pita Bite Crackers are possibly the best snack food ever in the history of the world. Seriously, I need an intervention to stop eating them! -- Nay: The turkey kielbasa was kinda dry and not too flavorful. Also, today I wanted just one stinkin tomato and again, they only have prepacked ones which really annoys me. -- FYI: Though TJs doesn't carry many household/personal (ie non - food) items, you CAN get toilet paper -- I think a 12 pack was 4 or 5 bucks. I love this Trader Joe's! It's really convenient to have this TJ's located in the Ballard Blocks. I never have to worry about parking here, because there's ample parking outside along the church and the curb, but it's also connected to the parking garage. In other words, you don't need to take a Xanax to make it through the parking ordeal like in Cap Hill. Yikes! This location is always decently stocked, Sundays being the worst, because everyone (hipster) within a 5-mile radius comes here on Sunday. Even then, I find that I can usually find the essentials, it's just the bashing of carts and running over toes that I need to worry about. This location is also very clean and well laid out. There's no guessing as to where to find things. The staff at Trader Joe's, particularly at this location, is always very friendly and helpful. They will always go out of their way to ask you a question during check-out, even if it's just to ask if you're having a good day. Sometimes I overshare with them, but I figure that's what they get for asking! Haha. read more

Big, plenty of parking, great staff. The downside to all of this good is that this place is pretty crowded, so if possible try to hit early mornings on the weekdays. Trader Joe's is practically one-stop shopping now that they carry hard liquor (even with a decent local variety). Get wine, TP, produce, bakery goods, fancy food, frozen stuff, stuff for entertaining... TJ as a chain is very considerate about waits, and they always have staff jumping in to open new check lines. I've barely had to stand around waiting, even with a cart full of groceries. It is kind of a haul from my 'hood, but very worth the trip. read more

Lovely location. It's huge! I'm a little spoiled with the California locations. If you've ever been to a NYC Trader Joe's then almost any TJ will be amazing since the check out line is typically less than five minutes. However in comparison to other TJ in the North West this is a pleasant location. It's very clean inside. There's a private parking lot and a huge entrance. Since there are tons of people frequenting this location the turn around time of the products looks pretty good. They are very well stocked with everything and the staff here is outstanding. It seems popular that families come here with their doggies and babies, I love that. There's some street parking available but limited. I also saw some people doing curb side pick up and drop off. No traffic jams, everything flows smooth. Expert tips: bring your reusable grocery bags. If you're using a ride share I recommend requesting your pick up as soon as you step into the check out line and tell them to pick you up at the pedestrian entrance. read more

This location is my favourite of all the ones in the Seattle area. The U-District and the one way down north both have parking that give me a headache. And this shiny new store has street parking and an entire garage for its use. The aisles also seem a little roomier than other locations but maybe that's just my perception. The employees are friendly and while the check stand queues can get long, they move easily enough. Just exhale and be patient, they'll get to you eventually. They are always demo-ing one of their products along with some hot coffee or cider. And there's good prices on beer and wine with knowledgeable staff who can help you make a decision if you need it. A decadent dinner favourite is to mix half a bag of their Gnocchi al Gorgonzola and the Gnocchi with Marinara, toss the finished product with a liberal amount of red pepper flakes, and serve with a massive salad. The mix of the two sauces make the meal less heavy and the salad makes you feel less bad! If you're in need of party snacks, this is the place for cheap offerings. Their mini oatmeal chocolate chip cookies have been consumed by the fistful by our friends. Or their frozen flatbreads work in a pinch for appetizers. My personal favourite is the wild mushroom + the black truffle though my boyfriend likes the three cheese variety with Gorgonzola, mozzarella + grana padano, if memory serves. Bake up one of those and slice several pears or fat Fujis... you have a yummy quick meal that hits the spot. One of my recent purchases was their frozen paneer Tikka Masala with spinach Basmati rice. It was under 300 calories and a decent amount of food for lunchtime. But my absolute weakness is their kettle corn and those infernally addictive peanut butter filled pretzel pillows... This is my go-to grocery store, what a great place! Parking can be a bish sometimes with parking around the building, garage parking can be difficult as it shares a building with L.A Fitness so peak hours can be tough to find parking. Bus line is right up the corner so it makes it easy to catch the bus home. Great produce, fruits and meats. I really love their to-go pre packed/made sandwiches, wraps, salads, and even dinner entrees like meatloaf, lasagna, grilled chicken etc. It is exactly what Im looking for! I love stocking my pantry with their items, snacks on snacks all up in my pantry! Employees are nice and helpful, always restocking the shelves and putting more stuff out. Check-out always has multiple lanes open and if one line gets all queued up, they are quick to open another lane. Cashiers are friendly and nice to chat with while checking out, I like the fact that they always ask or check your eggs to make sure they arent cracked. Anyways, a great TJs location! I went to do some grocery shopping for the first time here. I was all done and ready to checkout. I saw a lady standing at the register finishing with someone so I headed to her lane. As I got closer, she looked at me then walked away! I stood there shocked. The lady at the register next to her even looked at her like " really"? She was nice and said I'll help you ma'am. I was appalled and felt horrible. I am a person of color and she was white. So not sure if that's why she didn't want to help me because the customers were predominantly white as well. Eighteen years ago, Trader Joe's were tiny stores that was no bigger than a postage stamp and it was so crowded you had to wait to look at the merchandise. I couldn't envision shopping at store like that all the time nor could I imagine what I would need to buy that would be worth the hassle. Now a week doesn't go by with out a visit to Trader Joe's, where I do the majority of my grocery shopping. I shop at several Trader Joe's but the Ballard store is my favorite. Compared to other locations, this store seems brighter, the aisles feel wider and the sales associates friendlier. There is even a sales associates on the floor specifically to point out new products or locate that hard to find item. My family is so use to Trader Joe products that it has become hard to substitute another stores brand. read more
