It's weird. The crappy old fred meyer was better. I hate robot cashiers. The hardware section is weak. The pharmacist was nice to me (very sweet lady). Don't ever buy a bike there. It's not a bike store. Their bikes suck. The whole place was arranged by a crazy person who thought they were being clever or something, especially the grocery area. I love shopping here. The employees are friendly, the selection and variety of merchandise is generous, FREE fruit for kids, and easy returns and exchanges. The only negative that comes to mind is how busy it is - especially on the first Tuesday of the month when they give seniors a 10% discount....which is a compassionate, community minded monthly occurrence. read more

While I normally don't think of Fred Meyer as a Mecca of style and taste, I just had a wonderful experience that shifted my perspective. I had a question about what type of cheese might ship to NYC for a Central Park picnic gift for a friend. Sean.was.amazing. He not only answered my question but led me around the store giving me tips about the best type of kombucha, which salami to buy, and which boxed wine was best. I gave this one 3 stars. I loved the old Greenwood Freddies. It was where I went to get damn near anything when I lived down the street. People talked about it not having food but, they may have missed the huge natural section they had. The only thing missing was produce. So anyhow I was all stoked that the new one was opening and went in a couple days ago. Waiting until after the grand opening weekend. My impression was that someone was really missing the point on layout and design and that they must have rushed the thing open. Sloppy details that were missed on the punch list. The place will look old quickly. Downstairs was creepy and I wanted to leave fast. I made it back upstairs to do a bit of food shopping. Again the layout was odd. Really odd and hard to find stuff. It is a Fred Meyers so they will have everything and it will be cheap so being that it is close to work I will go there but, I would gladly have just left the old one in tact or just got to the Ballard store which has a WAY better layout. Oh and big boo to not bringing back the old coffee cart that was in the entrance. I guess Kroger just had to have a Starbucks instead of a local company in the store. Hmm I just changed my mind. I am going to give the store two stars. I was really unimpressed. Oh and your parking lot sucked too. The entrance is too small causing people to drive on the curb as was evident by the large ruthole of mud next to the east side of the opening off 85th. read more

Stopped in this store on the way home from northgate. We needed eggs and other cookie making ingredients. We could not find the groceries section and we were told this is the only fred meyer in seattle without a grocery. Okay. that's fine we also wanted top soil for our yard. Could the man who worked there help us with that? Not so much, other than pointing us downstairs to the gardening area. After about 20 minutes of searching for top soil and with no customer service to be found. We left soil less an eggless. read more

This is the worst Fred Meyer I have been to. I used to shop weekly at the one on Bothell Everett in Bothell, and it really was one-stop shopping, plus the place was super open-spaced and clean. This one in Greenwood has almost NO food, and I only found this out after wandering the entire store multiple times thinking there must be some huge mistake. Nope, they just have all the other Freddies goodies--home & garden accessories, clothes, electronics, etc. It seems cramped and poorly organized. If you live nearby and are just looking to pick up some quick home gadgets it's fine but I am disappointed overall with this place. read more

We have shopped at this Fred Meyer for over 20 year's. We have put up with the dirt, filth, lack of employee (employees outside on the curb smoking in front of the store, sloppy dressing, sloppy hair, an overall lack of care and not wanting to be there...) and management care, not enough parking, not enough shopping carts, not enough staff in the nursery area outside to where you have to walk all the way to the customer service desk to pay, the awful planning and implementation of the remodel...but what has taken the cake is the total lack of focus and discipline paid to addressing how to make the store as absolute safe as possible during this scary and life threatening covid virus. We go in once a week during the seniors window 7-9 to minimize our exposure. Employees, suppliers and customers are NOT all wearing masks (why not just make a very simple policy decision that says if you want to work here, provide product here and/or shop here you have to have a mask on to enter the store!!! Come on-this is simple "period")-total lack of respect and care for everyone. Also, why not have shoppers go in one direction down the aisles-another really simple policy decision. You make all of these simple policy decisions, you will make so much more money as people will want to shop in your store. read more

For the most part this has been an okay Fred Meyer. Tonight I found what I wanted and went to the self-checkout where two female associates where chatting at a station between the two sets of bays. I found an open one next to their station and had started checking out before I noticed how disgusting the "bagging area" surface was. Dried spilled crap all over it outlined by dirt. You wouldn't want to put your stuff on it at any time, not to mention COVID-19. The Ballard FM wipes the screens and surfaces down before they allow people to check out. Not this one. The disinfectant spray bottle was right near the chatting associates so I sprayed the surface for the rest of my items without throwing up. "Oh, we could have done that," one said, then went back to her conversation. No towel to wipe the surface so I put the remaining items in my bag, paid, and got the hell out. Sprayed the items with alcohol when I got home. read more

The floral department did my wedding flowers and they were awesome! Super easy to work with, completely rocked the bouquet with minimal input from me (I didn't really know what I wanted), and the flowers must have been super fresh, because they still look amazing and fresh 2+ days later. I feel like these stores are silly large, but super convenient. This one is in a great spot for any rando items you need at a strange hour. Sweet. Yes, yes...as the employee told me, this is the only Fred Meyer without food. Wth? I heard there's one in Ballard though so I'll just go there next time! I like Fred Meyer in Kirkland...like everyone else pointed out, the other Fred Meyer's are a good place to get food at a good price. When I moved from the Eastside to Seattle, I was pretty shocked to see this locale. It's not just that there's no food, this place is just really dark and gloomy. The basement floor seems better lit than the upper level. The selection of sunscreen (and toiletries in general) was pretty awful and everything just looks sad and dingy in this dirty locale. The whole place just...feels a little sketch too. I've only been here twice: the first to find out there's no food, but I did find purple hangers on sale and bought two packs of those! The second time was because I was leaving Ballard and too lazy to drive all the way up to Target, but I usually just go to Northgate's Target instead. read more

The newly remodeled store is a huge improvement over the old one, but I'm glad they didn't demolish the entire thing, retaining part of the shell, and the below-ground parking. The main floor is big and bright, although the level below feels claustrophobic (lower ceiling or cheaper lighting, maybe?). But I usually stay upstairs. I expected to be impressed with the Murray's cheese case, but Fred Meyer's traditional labels and signs are clearer, so it was easier to search for a particular cheese. One big problem I have with this store is that there is only one main entrance! The garden center doors are usually locked down, despite being the height of planting season. I'm assuming this is for security reasons. But shopping for garden products, then getting to and from the garden section and your car will take WAY longer than it will at the Ballard FM. One particularly frustrating experience is that in order for staff to water the plants being sold in the parking lot, they use a standard hose that runs diagonally from the middle of the store (not from the garden center). It's impossible to cross that hose with a full shopping cart! This is a newly refurbished store, why the hell didn't FM either make sure they had water for the outdoor plants they knew would be out in the parking lot, or cover the hose so the customers could roll their groceries over it? Luckily, another shopper came and helped me lift my cart over the hose. Oh, and that outdoor section rarely has any cardboard boxes to carry plant starts...it's as if people aren't thinking. There are thick cement pillars between what looks like a sidewalk, and the cars driving past the front of the store. Unfortunately, the sidewalk often is full of bags of planting material and plant displays, so many customers walking (to the aforementioned single entrance) must walk on the traffic-side of the pillars. Those who park in the west end of the parking lot really take their lives in their hands, as there is no sidewalk, and no other way to get there but to walk in traffic (and have to cross the loading dock entrance). Another issue is the orientation of the aisles, and the space in the middle of the store taken up by the stairs/escalators to the ground level. From all grocery sections, the escalators are between me and the checkout aisles, and even though it's not that far, it feels blatantly "in the way". The placement of the long aisle with produce on the south side, coffee on the north, also requires a detour. There is no direct route from milk or meat to the vegetable section, and I resent being forced to through and around aisles of items I have NO intention of buying. Then, there are 3 checkout options. Standard line with a conveyor belt and a cashier, self-checkout, and tiny checkout counters with a cashier that are squished very close together. Actually the self-checkouts are also squished very close together. Everyone jockeys for space to get their items out of their cart or basket, scan them, and get them back in without hitting another customer with their cart. Take out one or two of them, and give people some space to breathe! The good news is that the majority of the Greenwood staff are very helpful and pleasant. When I've had questions or just trying to get some shopping done, I've been pretty satisfied. I love that they carry some amazing Hempler's fresh sausages, and the fresh bread section is very impressive looking. I like that they have a milkshake machine, though I doubt I'll ever use it. And the produce section had items that I've only seen at Uwajimaya, and some that I've never seen anywhere. Overall, I'll continue to shop there, but hope they'll make a few changes in the future. Forgot to mention that this Freddie's has recycling bins at the store exit, which I"ve been asking the Ballard store to do for years. No longer do I have to throw my unclipped ads in the trash, or haul them home to recycle myself. Kudos! read more

I wanted to write a specific review for Erik Larsen in the furniture department. I bought a couch, (2) chairs, (1) end table, and (2) bar stools a week or so ago and I have never had such a good experience. There was a sale going on, so the furniture department was extremely busy. Erik was on top of everything, diligent with each customer, found my items quickly, helped load them in to my car, and I needed to come back for a second trip, and he was ready and waiting when I came back with all of my information ready. He was friendly despite the hectic department, even helped open a box and load items in to my car when the box would not fit. I had an awesome experience and he was such a hard worker that I wanted to make sure he got some recognition. Thanks Erik! read more

The Greenwood Freddys is where is do my weekly big grocery shopping. The prices are good and the store is clean and well laid-out. Plus if I need a clothing item or some other non-grocery related thing I can get it here as well. The employees are generally polite and helpful. However, sometimes the produce isn't up to scratch. More than once I've gotten rotten apples from this location. I think they need better quality control there. The other issue I have is that this particular location has not as big of a selection on some grocery items as the one in Ballard does. Usually this isn't a problem for me, but it's something I've noticed. read more

I prefer heading to this Fred Meyer over the Ballard location, as I live right about in between the two locations. Since this Fred Meyer has been remodeled in recent years, it is easy to navigate and brightly lit. Produce is a little crowded with the volume of people shopping and the way it is laid out, but the rest of the store is fine. Apparel and home stuff is downstairs. They have a good sized parking lot, and also a small parking garage. I rarely have trouble finding a parking spot - except for big holidays, but I'd imagine any store is a fight to park the day or two before, say, Thanksgiving and Christmas. The staff have always been pleasant, from the checkers to people on the floor. read more

Don't mind the old reviews. This store is newly renovated. One stop shop. Everything you need, they have it. Very organized for each department. Stayed in the brand new apartment without openable windows or AC. So we went to this store after calling to make sure that they had an air purifier. It took a couple of transfers but one employee took an initiative to find that there were some air purifiers. I have never been to Fred Meyers, and it was clean, offered many things even the grocery. All the employees that we dealt with were courteous. We found a purifier, checked the price, and went to the cashier. However, it turned out that the price was twice as much as I saw on the shelf. So I did not buy it, and asked the staff at the department. She found out that the price card was not posted at the right place. There were not many choices, and the model that was on sale was gone. But the same model in the different color was available but it was not on sale. She offered the product for the same sale price without any hesitation. Thank you!! read more

I often just buy non-food items here. The selection is alright. If they have what you are looking for, the prices are reasonable. The staff is a bit indifferent, and the service can be a bit slow, but mostly it's acceptable. After the recent remodel, the place still looks a bit outdated. I love this store. It's new looking, huge, has lots of parking, and it's right near my house. They have good prices, nice fresh produce, and a very good selection of vegetarian/vegan products like vegan cheese. I like that I can grab vegan groceries, some new sheets, and maybe some lightbulbs or something all in one trip. Lots of good seasonal/holiday stuff, and a nice big selection of drugstore-type products. There's almost nothing they don't have. read more

I can get basically everything I want here without having to use my car. Easily one of the best grocery stores in Seattle. At least in north Seattle. (besides trader joes). It's luxuriously big with tons of parking with pretty good prices and pretty fast check out lanes. Also their fruit is very impressive. I haven't found a better grocery store for fresh fruit and vegetables. read more

Cole from the electronic/photo area was amazingly helpful. I was trying to print out passport photos while figuring how to get the picture size correctly. The photo options in their computer is set with not much flexibility. However, Cole was very helpful and she even provided me with pen and ruler and cutting tools so I can test out if the size is appropriate. They are especially helpful to me with their natural food and supplement department where I can even get homeopathics and herbal supplements when I run out. I just had to write a review tonight after my experience! I have shopped this store for a while and absolutely love the redo they underwent this year. I think their produce section is one of the best and the whole store is clean and bright. I recently bought the perfect color for my bathroom and then decorated the whole room with this and that all from Freddies--it's a showcase if I say so my self. Now for my experience. I purchased a Samsung Blue-ray player at Freddies a little more than a month ago. Last night CDs stopped playing-grrrrrrrr! I tried the CDs in my other player and they were fine. I had thrown away the box and I could not find the receipt but thought I'd be ok since I used my Reward Card. When i got to Customer Service they couldn't find it through my rewards card, or even the debit card I thought I had used. Crud I thought, now I'm sunk and will have to send the dang thing back to samsung. But she said she could give me a non-receipt credit on a gift card, use the gift card to buy the replacement player. I looked at her and said, "Really, you can do that?" So I'm sitting here setting up my replacement player and a very, very, very happy customer!! Now that is Customer Service! Good job. read more
