This place is so gigantic it has a Starbucks and a Tully's. That's right, it's so large that it can support coffee competition. it must be a third of a mile from one corner to another. I work like 50 yards away so I'm here all the time, I still haven't figured out the layout but whatever, I like it. read more

Great grocery store, I'm a stay at home mom and I cook A LOT. Fred Meyer always has a great selection of everything and even when it seems like they're out, just ask and the employees are beyond helpful in getting you what you want, and friendly (what more could you ask for?) The prices and sales are fantastic and the produce is farmers market fresh! read more

Huge floor space with nearly anything you need. They don't lie when they say one stop shopping. Open until 11:00 with enough staff on hand to answer questions and work the check-out stands. We've gotten some great deals on items, there's plentiful parking, and low prices! If I lived closer, I'd do all of my shopping here but I live a little too far away for that. Produce is half rotten when I get it and the stuff not rotten, rots within a day usually. Organic section isn't all that amazing and they claim it's organic, but really only about half of it is. The prices are fairly high considering the quality. I would go somewhere else, but this is the best bang for your buck out of all other competition stores. I don't know why Fred Meyer gets such a bad rap. I don't usually get all the groceries here because it can be a zoo at times. But if I need a couple things Fred Meyer is the closest grocery store to me. Milk, beer, Ice cream, Patio Furniture, shoes...these are all these I have gotten on quick trips to "the store" and I can usually get in and out quickly. Though there have been times were I couldn't find something and almost killed myself with their assortment of poisons on isle 9. One time I asked someone and got little help. Another time several people didn't know where it was but escalated up the chain till I got someone who pointed it right out. They all seemed nice and I have had similar experiences at all the grocery stores I have been to. Lastly this FM is HUGE...the biggest I have been to they have everything. read more

Remodel is over now - for the life of me I can't tell what changed. Someone needs to be fired - but I have my Fred Meyers back - so everything's OK again. selection = good prices = cheap ------------------------------ THE REMODEL MUST END First - I love Fred Meyers - and used to love this store. Problem is they've been "remodeling" for the last - what 6 months? (I've honest lost track - and have no idea) I can't find anything anymore. I watched some hippy damn near have a heart-attack because the help couldn't tell him where the organic mayo went. Said they might just not have it due to the remodel. Micro-brew is getting stored at room-temperature (this is a no-no). The pharmacy is in a trailer in the parking lot - and all the garden stuff is in a tent. It's also clear the staff themselves are getting agitated / defensive about the situation. I understand they want to update the store - but this has been going on forever. Clearly the project has gone amiss. They need to do damage control - and just put the store back together - NOW. read more

Generally this grocery store has all you need but the best part is the Pharmacy. Pharmacy Manager Lam Dang and technician Adam are so friendly and helpful and really seem to care about family health. read more

I generally like Freddie's, and this one is a nice one-stop-shop kind of place. But customer service is just not their forte! I find staff generally disinterested and kind of cold. Prices can be a little on the high side unless there is a sale going on. It is in a convenient location for me, just wish staff would warm up a bit. read more

Fred's is my grocery store. I like their organics, much better price than Safeway for example. I've got a hit and run once there, so be careful where you park. I will stay away from the spots near the entrance. I park a little further and prefer to take a walk. read more

Very big; maybe too big if you want just a few items but for weekly shopping a step up from Walmart/Target. Service is very good.

The parking isnt to bad even when busy, and it gets pretty crowded, but it's a great spot and excellent prices.

The actual store is fine, but the Tully's there sucks. I went today after my shopping, and tried to order a strawberry banana smoothie. The employee, who didn't seem to want to be bothered by her reading asked me to go get the banana for her. Yeah...no. I don't work at Tully's, you get the banana yourself. Or better yet, check your stock when you aren't with customers instead of looking miserably bored out your mind. I'll stick to Starbucks when I want a drink at Fred Meyer. read more

Oct. 2 -- Major ripoff on prescription drugs! Fred's sucks you in with good cheap prices on generics, then claims the particular dose of a med is no longer available and charges you twice as much for a hokey substitute. Case in point: my Rx is for 100 mg of a widely-used blood pressure medication which was $10 for a 90 day supply. First time I filled it, great! No problem! Upon return to pick up my refill, the pharmacist tells me that they can't get the 100 mg anymore, so I have to take 2 50 mg. tablets and that will cost me twice as much. NOTE THAT THE SAME AMOUNT OF MEDICATION IS NOW DOUBLED IN PRICE! So, my meds went from $10 to $20 in 3 months. PLEASE CONSIDER MOVING YOUR Rx to a trustworthy pharmacy! It's easy and it's free. Just go to a trusted pharmacy and tell them your Rx is at Fred's and you want to move it. That's it! Vote with your dollars! read more

I like the people who work at this store plus I like the vast selection of items for sale and prices are pretty good. Gardening supplies and groceries are most frequent purchases but also bought 3 TVs and 3 blue ray players over the years. Produce meat fish deli bakery all excellent. Very nice birthday cake made for my wifes 60th. Love Tullys coffee I buy there. read more

As a new Washington transplant I have to say I love this store. It's like Target with higher standards and a real grocery store. The only two weaknesses I've found are I'd like a little more variety in whole bread loaves and a bit more oomph in their butcher counter. What they have isn't bad but I just want a little more. Probably one of the cheaper grocery stores around and great for college students trying to save some extra cash. Their vegetables are fair priced but you do really have the pick em! For things such as canned foods and chips, they are much cheaper than the grocery stores near the university. They do often have good weekly sales and well worth the trip. read more

Ballard Fred Meyer....if I ever move too far from it to shop there I will be disappointed. Their meat selection is awful though.

Excellent customer service. They went above and beyond when I had a defective item past the 30 day return window and I couldn't get a hold of the manufacturer. Additionally, they have the best special deals on organic produce most frequently versus Safeway (whose selection of organic produce is pitiful) and Ballard Market (good selection, but usually overpriced). I do wish they carried better meat - grass fed, pastured, all wild-caught fish, etc. But I will be a long-time customer after my crappy item ordeal. read more

Very nice meat counter, excellent Gluten-Free section (!), outstanding beer/cider selection, pretty nice produce. Also great for pretty much anything you need around the house. I just recommend staying as far away from here as possible during the day on the weekends as it is a cluster-you-know-what. Total freakin circus. If you have to go grocery shopping, go late on Sunday night - that is when they are the least busy. read more

Where else would you find the staff dancing to Michael Jackson's Thriller mid afternoon on a Saturday. For a mega store like this the staff is very helpful and friendly. The prices are the best in the area. I do have to go elsewhere for some produce, sorry to say but it's a lot better than the produce at Safeway. The boar's head deli is pretty good. And the loyalty program also works well for me. I've shopped at 2 other Fred Meyer's and this one is nicer. Now if only they'd double coupon... read more

not too bad, if you don't mind waiting in line for ten minutes and then waiting another ten minutes for a price check because something wasn't in the system. don't bother with the produce. there's a lot of wine, but last time i was in that part of the store it wasn't well-organized and i didn't find anything that i was looking for. overall, it's pretty much like a wal-mart, except not as ghetto. read more

Oh Ballard Fred Meyer, how I miss you! The Ballard Fred Meyer is the best Fred Meyer in the area in my opinion. I used to live downtown and would hop on 99 to get there, and now that I am in north north Shoreline, I still drive down wen their ad is REALLY good. I like their food layout, the are usually pretty decently stocked (and when they are out of something I have had no problem getting a raincheck), and good selection. Now I am only talking about their grocery department. The rest of the store is overpriced, IMO. But this goes for all Fred Meyers. I only buy shoes/clothes/housewares there when they are having their 70% off of already clearance prices. THEN I wander into the rest of the store. read more

This store is YUUUUGE. I stop by a few times a month to fill up on kitchen staples, tools, kitchen items, socks, you name it. The Murray's cheese booth is genius, with selection of cheeses unrivaled by any grocery store. The cheese mongers are always very knowledgeable and helpful. The only thing they are seriously lacking is a gas station. The QFC out by Lake City is my closest Kroger gas station, so sadly most of my gas dollars end up going to the Safeway on 15th and Market. read more

There's a good chance you will see me haunting the aisles of the teeny-tiny "Natural Foods" section of this Fred Meyer several times per week. This Fred Meyer has the dubious merit of being three blocks from my house, which leads to lots of little "oops, I forgot something" trips. After 3 years of living so close to this store, I look upon it as something of a necessary evil...there's a branch of Washington Mutual where I can deposit checks or withdraw money from the too-handy ATM, they have the aforementioned small but usually stocked natural foods section, and they have Self-Checkout Stations, which I LOVE (I am one of those people who absolutely despises having to make small talk while my week's worth of groceries heads down the conveyor belt...). If you listen carefully, you might even hear me muttering curses as I attempt to enter the PLU codes from my (slightly less appealing than at PCC) organic produce... One word of advice: Do NOT come here on a weekend unless you love rubbing elbows with the elderly, the harried moms with kids in those gigantic plastic "race car" themed carts, and everyone else in the Ballard/Fremont area. You have been warned! An Observation: The first row of Self-Checkout stations has a very pungent odor of what I can only call "Eau de Hobo" for some strange reason. I thought it was a fluke at first, but they ALWAYS smell that rank...I've actually considered asking someone what the deal is, but I always chicken out...haha. read more

I like Fred Meyer - a Seattle institution. Help can at times be somewhat hard to find, but they are helpful once you find someone. The place is rather huge - so drink some coffee or something before you go there. What I like best about them is their very liberal return policy - I think you can return things even without a receipt if you have the credit card you paid with on hand. None of this picky return policy crap like Frye's - they quite willingly return electronics even if opened. You might not get the "deals" like at Frye's - but the simple fact you can actually return stuff there, no questions asked - is worth it in the end - you will *not* end up with stuff you either do not want or is defective. read more

This is a solid go-to destination for almost anything you need. It is big and sometimes a little hard to find floating staff if you are searching, but you will probably find a version of what you want. Fine selection of food and prices. Check out staff are always lovely. Deli can be a little grumpy in my experience. read more
