So I rarely write bad reviews unless I've had just truly her horrible experience but this one takes the cake. I went and called Fred Meyer's in Renton to see if they had some coolers and dry ice specifically phone coolers as I'm trying to ship something to my family. The gentleman said yes we do absolutely I get there and I'm sent around the entire store to buy four different representatives pointing me in the wrong direction. Only to find out that they are completely out of the coolers they have only the dry ice. At this point my frustration for their lack of customer service is at an all-time high. At this point I have asked to speak to a manager because clearly the representatives that I keep on finding do not have the capacity or simply do not care to assist customers. At which I get this 20 something-year-old manager with dark hair and glasses who has that candor I don't Care attitude and after explain my seat situation, no apology was given only more attitude. If it wasn't for the fact that I need to dry ice so desperately bad I would've left that place never to return. I have never in my experience had a grocery store have such disdain for their customers. Sure they sell cheap things but you clearly pay for what you get . Needless to say this will be my last and only time I will ever go to this particular store.I sincerely hope that management pays attention to their customer service experiences and does something to change their attitudes. This has been my "go to" grocery store since 2001 when I bought my first house in Upper Rainier Beach. I now live on the North border of Renton and it's still my favorite grocery store. Here's why: It's an excellent location, I always seem to be driving past it going somewhere, so it's never out of the way. I wish I could say that about Trader Joe's. The food quality & prices are always good. I especially like the huge produce section right when you walk in, always a nice selection. Right next to that is the substantial Bulk food section, all the flour, nuts, & etc. with minimal packaging. From the bakery to all the rest they have it all. pharmacy, banking, clothes, home wares, garden stuff. It's kind of all in one shopping at one location. I've even been to the Optometrist department with no complaints. Hours & Carts: 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM 7 days a week. I love doing my shopping in the late evening and 11:00PM closing works for me. I also really like the stubby compact shopping carts that they offer. They hold a lot more than they look and are super easy to maneuver (they offer the older longer deep basket style as well). Final thoughts: Don't really need to change much. I imagine as time goes by, updating will have to occur. It's seems about middle aged. It's certainly not a brand new architectural wonder of your grocery shopping experience of a store :) Hope this helps. read more

I must be fair and say I really like the deals at Freddie's however, I came for Seahawks gear. They didn't even have a keychain. Not cool!

They got whatcha need, but you can get the same things for cheaper across the street at Walmart... Then again~ you would have to deal with Walmart. The parking lot here Also sucks! Typical of a Fred Meyer parking lot though... I think they do it on purpose. read more

I'm from out of town and I love Fred Meyer! Its a one stop shop.

This Fred Meyers is pretty nice compared to the one in Burien, I love that they have a playland area for kids to hang out while the parents shop! I love their organic and natural food section its like my whole foods away from whole foods, well a mini version any way. But I love Fred Meyers for having the everything in one stop, clothing, home, grocery, jewelry, electronics, etc. Its a great place to shop especially for last minute gifts because its the place we go to when we realize we have a kids birthday party at 2! Staff is pretty nice here too, parking is good and I love that its conveniently located in the middle of a shopping center where I can grab a teriyaki lunch or a indian buffet! =) read more

I've been going to the Renton Fred Meyer for years. They have everything I need and everything I don't need. Recently I have become a fan of their bulk foods section - flour, rice, dried fruit, spices. Their selection of organic produce has also gotten bigger and better over the last couple of years which I totally dig. Speaking of digging they have a pretty big gardening section as well. Every few months I get way to excited to cash out my Fred Meyer rewards. Then I go CRAZY shopping just to spend my reward points. Good times. read more

I do all my shopping at Fred Meyer, I have no doubt this is the best grocery store EVER. The fruit and veg is always fresh. The aisles are always clean. Everything is neat and organized. NO ONE answers the phone at this store, and I tried about ten departments, following prompts all the way.

I do my best to avoid having to come to this store. Im from portland where i used to shop at the fred meyers on hawthorne (an award winning fred meyers) so this one is just a complete an absolute let down in comparison. - They never have the items i specifically go to their store for, instock. I specifically went for rosemary and in the herbs section every herb was there but rosemary. I show up for regular garlic and they dont have it and refer me to jarred garlic... theyre often out of the mouthwash i prefer. Yesterday all i wanted was vinyl gloves, but they only have one brand of gloves on their shelves, and vinyl was the only one completely out. No other brands to pick from. wanted some beige spanx, nope only black. hawaiian brand hamburger buns? nope not there! Basically anything i go there specifically for - out of luck. - their produce is awful. If you go to safeway you'll notice all their produce is kept cool and refrigerated and misted with water every so often... fred meyers? nope. all their veggies wilt within days. if you buy the same types of veggies from safeway they tend to last up to several days longer. - my husband has said numerous times he felt like he was profiled for being black. I am aware of this stores theft issues, but to be suspicious of an actual customer is just poor behavior that shouldnt be practiced. Pick carefully which customers you wanna stalk for theft. -Parking here is a mad house. I cant tell you how many times I almost got in an accident in this lot. Its a mess. -I spotted several junkies shooting up in their cars and falling asleep in this lot. This is not just a one time occurrence. -Their carts are always filthy. They never have the small ones available on the starbucks end of their store. always out of baskets on this end as well. -Weak af floral department. They often dont provide prices and signage on their special floral items for some reason... - Im always in a grocery stocker's way when im in your health food section. For some reason this section is BOOMING with customers, however its the smallest, section in the store. And because its so small, they go out of stock quickly on items, therefor requiring stockers to constantly be stocking this area. Their carts are big and in the way, and all i want is to grab some soy milk or tofu and feel like im intruding. I get anxiety thinking about coming to this area of the store. The general aisle lay out is awful. Its pretty difficult to locate items because there is practically no rhyme or reason as to why some of these aisles feature what they have... For instance condiments are in a cleaning section... Get your lightbulbs and your trashbags in the same place you pick up your ketchup. And think soy sauce or siracha is in the condiment aisle? WRONG! you gotta go to the ethnic aisle which is 90% pasta noodles and 10% other. Which by the way, youre always out of water chestnuts. This store man... it just drives me nuts. (edit) - Last night 12/19/2016 - they closed off their North entrance at 8pm! 25% of their parking is on the north end near starbucks and clearly because of their major theft problems they decided to close of this entrance/exit - which is extremely inconvenient during this awful weather season. I had to walk from there to their main entrance in the freezing rain. Why do your customers have to pay for or suffer for the theft that takes place here? its not our fault you dont keep your alcohol in a locked case... Not our fault you dont have enough security at your store. Not our fault a bunch of junkies like to squat and beg for change in your parking lot. I freaking hate this store. (edit) - 3/9/2017 THEY NOW SHUT OFF THE NORTH ENTRANCE AT 6 PM! 6 o clock. The cashier just watches customers come up to the doors and just laughs. its ridiculous. I am SO done with this place, everytime i return it gets just a little bit worse. If theft is such a major issue here, then you figure out a way to minimize it, but not at the inconvenience and expense of your "valued" customers. 6pm!?!? SERIOUSLY?! I had to drive my car to the South side of the store and because of the sheer volume of people being forced to park here, the closest spot I could obtain was near their gas station. Man fuck this place. Fuck. it. Also your deli people suck more than the safeway deli lady! Took 10 mins to get a lady over there to serve me some coleslaw, and even tho i wanted other items, she didnt ask me, and walked off after only giving me the coleslaw. There's a police guard in Fred Meyer literally kept staring at me and following me around like if I suspicious of something. I mean I was the only dark skinned in the store. I only went and bought syrup and a box of pancake. The police guy kept following me around everywhere I go and kept looking at me, I honestly felt very uncomfortable and discriminated. When I went near him he was just looking at me, I'm not sure if it's for safety issue but it's not fair to stare at certain races. The deli here sucks. There were 4 people and the all ignored me and the other two women there. HELLO its lunch time folks. We want to eat!!! Never acknowledged us and was just rude/nonchalant. They didn't even have the soup I was looking for and I wasted 10mins of my break just standing there to get an answer. Please get nicer people in your deli. FRED MEYER JEWELERS If you need any Jewelry this is the place to go. Raymond is the man! He goes out of his way to make the customer happy and do the right thing. A lost quality in today's market. They are fairly priced and provide good quality jewelry. Like I said. The 1 thing that keeps me going back is RAYMOND the store manager. His staff is very helpful and supportive as well. Raymond knows no limit to good customer support. I had an issue with my wife's wedding set. He stayed in the phone for 4 hours to make sure we were happy and got what we wanted. What. The. Eff. This is the most ghetto Fred Meyer I have ever been to. Every single time I am forced to go to this place for a last minute grocery item, I regret it. Now, to be fair, it's not entirely Fred Meyer's fault. The only real complaints I could attribute to the store itself include the fact that the front door seems to be on the fritz frequently, and the lines are very long here. The pharmacy also promised me my prescription would be ready in 35 minutes. One hour later, I finally got the prescription. Any time I spend more than $100 in groceries here, the transaction would go through twice in my card, and my bank would deactivate my card due to suspicious charges. That's partly my bank's fault, and it's partly FM's fault. My biggest complaint is with the PEOPLE that shop there. Let's recap some of the things at least one person in my household has encountered here: 1) Attempted vehicle burglary. Oh yes, caught them mid-act with ye ole coat hanger method going on around 7 pm. There were tons of people walking by without anybody questioning what was going on. Standard stuff I suppose. 2) Standard "People of Wal-mart" subject matter going on, i.e. man wearing a giant stuffed fish on his hideous camouflage hat, woman with hickies all over wanting to know "what the heck is that?" when pointing to my run-of-the-mill looking sushi (note: labeled with giant letters: SUSHI), etc. I usually try to laugh this sort of thing off. 3) Older woman honked at me (from behind) when I was clearly unable to move forward in my lane. I gestured at her to motion that I could not move forward, and she pulled up beside me to yell at me and tell me that I had "some nerve." Unfortunately I didn't have a giant mirror to hold up to her in return. 4) Usually there's a police officer patrolling the area, but obviously it doesn't deter criminal behavior (see exhibits 1 and 5). 5) A full-out brawl going on in the parking lot. Naturally, tons of onlookers forming quite the crowd surrounding them. 6) Woman unloads $75 worth of groceries, but she only has $17 to pay. She slowly has them break it down to $17 item by item, but hey, that bottle of wine had to stay. Necessities and all... Well, the other 4 had to go unfortunately.... All in all, I try to avoid this place like the plague. I believe we've even held a rock/paper/scissors contest to see who has to run the errand. We dread it when the other grocery stores are closed or when we know FM is the closest place we could get a specific item that we need urgently. Usually I just drive just a little bit further to the Fred Meyer on 108th Ave in Renton. It has a gas station, and I have yet to see anything remarkably "wrong" going on there besides typical grocery store visitors. Maybe the "glass hasn't been shattered" for me just yet about the other location, but I always feel at least a little bit more safe when shopping at the other location. This post may make me sound like a bit of an elitist, but I assure you I am far from it. This place is really just that bad. We have yet to come back from this place without at *least* one story about the adventure. The staff has always been friendly and accommodating though. Prices and selection are fair (and MUCH better than at Safeway). Then again, those sorts of things are pretty standard with any Fred Meyer. read more

It's sprawling, it's all-encompassing, and the folks working there seem to dig their jobs and helping you spend way too much money. After opening my bags after arriving home I found three-quarters of my groceries remaining. Big store, but super busy all the time, especially their parking lot. I think this is one if their larger Freddies, and they offer everything here. I particularly love their natural foods department, floral & bakery...always has a wonderful selection. It's ghetto renton, happened to be in the area, needed to stop in and pick a couple things up, made sure my purse was on me at all times, found what I was looking for in the sparse shelves, paid for them and even answered the ringing payphone as we were leaving. read more

Aside from Costco, Fred Meyer is my other favorite grocery store. For my mom, since she works nearby, Fred Meyer is a #1 grocery store for most items. It's convenient. They have very good pricing and very good sales. Their sales are legit because they're not just items/products that are about to expire and go bad, but they are fresh! Fruits are the best there! What's also nice is that there's also non-food items like clothing, toys, and furniture. Personally, I don't really get non-food items there. We really see Fred Meyer as a grocery store/fancier drug store. read more

Love Fred Meyer! It's one of my favorite stores and you can shop for everything from camping gear, to organic groceries to brand named merchandise. The staff is wonderful as are the coupons. My only complaint is that they have many, many lines for purchasing, but a grossly under-staffed Customer Service, which is where you Must go to make a return, buy a fishing license, cash a check, etc. I have never been helped in a timely manner, no matter the day of the week or the time. It's an overall decent place with great prices, but I wish they would do something about the persistently wilted brown lettuce in their deli sandwiches. Safeway has new sandwiches from an outside vendor that are much better so far--more meat, better bread, plenty of free mayo packages. Awful customer service. They do not have enough lines open during the 5:00 pm after work rush so lines are ridiculously long. I stopped in for a few items yesterday and was in line by the garden section for 15 minutes waiting to check out. At 6:00 pm promptly, even though I was in line before then, the cashiers put a sign out saying closed and refused to check me and one other individual in line out. Even though we both had been waiting before then, no one behind us, and both had four items or less. They wanted us to walk to the other side of the store and wait in another long line. I get that the door closes at 6:00 pm but seriously? Poor customer service. We had already been waiting and had a few items. You could have turned away anyone after us. I dumped my items and left. I have a family to get home to, I don't have time to wait in another 20 minute line. I was in and out of Safeway in five minutes. I have the privilege of being able to drive to another store but what about other individuals who need to catch a bus, can't walk to the other side of store because of pain, etc. read more

When you go to Fredy's you expect 2 things: cheap groceries and a long wait in line. This store has recently been remodled which is why its 2 stars instead of 1. Normally I'm a fan of theirs. However, as a pattern I have seen with the chain in the Puget Sound compared to their stores in Skagit/Whatcom Co., is their customer service/employees are some of the most unfriendly people I have met when shopping. And its not just this store, I could lump in Benson Center (SE Renton), Kirkland & Shoreline (Shoreline though I would give 3 stars). Their stores are so much nicer up north, what gives? read more

I have been a customer for 10 years. Recently I had a cashier get on my case for my ID while I was buying a few needful things and alcohol. I had pulled out my Fred Meyer card to swipe so my teenager would get his free minutes on his Kroger cellphone and then was fumbling for my ID.The girl at the register was being seemingly rude and asked me for my ID twice within the few seconds I had to return my Rewards card and pull out my ID. I said yes here and a man behind me started going off on me. The cashier did nothing but laugh and smile. I tried to pull out my money and pay and he continued to harass me. I walked to my car quickly with my things looking over my shoulder. Beware of the" girls" they hire at this Fred Meyer. They are terrible employees and I will continue to choose my registers not by the size of the line but the cashier.Some of the women there are just wonderful people!They make my day most of the time! read more
