A rat jumped off the shelf and ran across the spice section a few feet from me!!!!!! I've been traumatized since. I told 2 clerks, they kept stocking shelves saying they would tell someone. Having shopped here since it came into existence one thing has remained consistent. Out of stocks in the produce department particularly on the wet rack. There can be 3 or 4 associates in the department filling product from their racks but there is no sense of urgency filling OOS's. We have counted as many as 20 items completely out or with just a few picked over scraps remaining on the wet rack. Not to ad insult to injury but the associates seldom if ever greet you and give you nothing but attitude when you ask them to fill an OOS. Compare and contrast with Sumner, North Puyallup or Bethel Station, wet racks are well maintained and it's not unusual to get a greeting. read more

Our family has lived in this area since June 2018 finding three Kroger Fred Meyer Stores within our stomping grounds. This particular one seems to be the one we most frequent. Also when visiting family in Tucson and Phoenix, go to Kroger Fry's which is the same franchise. The variety, quality, freshness and service has always been good. We are most often there grocery shopping but it is so convenient to also be able to get Starbucks and, or household, automobile, general and Seasonal essentials. We always find clean, well organized, easy to find inventory and staff facility's. Self check out is our preferred method. Also appreciated are phones to pick up and ask for help though I think that may only be their Nursery, Automotive, and Hardware department. I will have to try to check on that next visit. I am impressed how they are now stocking many choices of healthier and plant based, Vegetarian and Vegan options! They definitely have more competitive prices then Safeway! The Produce department is so colorful and offers many Organic options. Fred Meyer/Kroger creates lots of jobs in our local areas as well. This Fred Meyers has definitely dropped in customer service within the few years they were open. When they reopened, it was great....staff was friendly and courteous. I remember my first visit during the pandemic, shopping....and the clerk asked if I had any coupons. I said "no but if you have some, that would be great". She was so nice she definitely hooked it up with the weekly ads and mail coupons. I will never forget how amazing the customer service was. Fast forward a few years later....the cashier customer service has become "meh". So now I choose to use the self-check out line. Well todays visit definitely proved Kroger Executives need to revisit this store and monitor how they treat customers. I purchased my items at the self checkout with my family and the system didn't print out a receipt. The rep who was monitoring the self checkout turned his back on me while talking with another employee named "shay". I said politely "excuse me can I get help". No response from him. I pressed the "call attendant" button. Waited 2 mins and no response. I got impatient and spoke louder "excuse me"! The clerk had the nerve to turn around and said "no not yet, one second". Watch out where you park you car! South Hill Fred Meyer has "movable cart return cages" that are not anchored into the pavement. It's the only parking lot I've ever seen without cart return corrals not concreted into the ground. My wife who has been a regular shopper here since it opened came out from her shopping to find the cart return corral stuffed into the front of her car. It left a noticeable scratch on her front bumper. After showing the store manager and trying to work with their insurance carrier Sedgwick, they decided to deny her claim for damage. Why would they not anchor those cart return corrals into the ground? The claims person said it was because of storms that they are movable. What BS. Since this incident, I have personally seen people return their carts to these "movable " return corrals and the force of the cart being pushed into the corral moves the corral in that direction. After several carts are returned, the return corral is completely out of the parking stall it was put in. To sum it up, after 20 years of shopping here, she will no longer shop at Fred Meyer and the money she saves shopping elsewhere will easily pay for the damage repair. read more

This Fred Meyer location is pretty fair, it does get packed when the sun is out, always have great deals but it is always hot Inside. There is no A/C whatsoever in any other departments besides food & produce, I was shopping in the apparel department and I kept sweating thinking it's the heat but it's actually no A/C going at all. For a corporate business you would think A/C is important during the summer months but I guess not to them. Can't imagine what the staff and employees have to deal with on a 8 hour shift. read more

My car was hit and run damaged in the Fred Meyer parking lot. They don't have security cameras on the entire side of the store where my car was parked, so I was out of luck determining who hit it. It's outrageous that the store doesn't have security cameras in 2023 on the entire parking lot to protect their customers. Avoid this location. read more

Not at all impressed. The produce is generally terrible quality - you MUST use it that day in order to salvage it. Poor selection, generally out of many things. Coupon items are not available. I see the commercials on television and laugh about how they claim their produce is SO fresh, triple checked and all types of nonsense. NOT true at all. Not a bad spot to go shopping, not the best . But the veggies and fruits are great. The meat produce never have enough sale items though. I don't know if they are hiding it in the back or what. I didn't notice until a month after I bought something that it had been expired at least 3 months before I purchased! How odd!!! Why wouldn't you take it off the shelves ? Staff have been a mixed groups of good and bad. During the pandemic, we've solely relied on pickup, delivery or online shopping with young children at home and high risk. Overall, we've had a good experience, but there have been 4 occasions, yes, 4 where the produce comes out rotten for pickup. Rotten produce. Then you call the store who transfers you to pickup manager and we got snooty butt. I'm sure she'd be tooting another tune in person. You know the type with bad attitude till she runs into someone who is bigger than the bully types. Yup. I stayed polite, took her name and called corporate and shared my piece of mind. Who in turn credited the photographed rotten produce. The cantaloupe was molded when cut into. Fresh? Wth?!??! It ain't fresh in the western hemisphwre or southern. SMH. Then this l a st time, we got napa cabbage and today there were white larvae and black gnats inside, see pic below. Tried calling, got routed three times by customer service after getting through auto system. The folks bringing out groceries are hard working and even confused with the sub items and try to be helpful, but in several reviews I've said they should inspect the crappy produce with customers. When I spoke to the person in customer service she would only credit item produce not by weight by item. So if item was 1.99 lb she only gave you 1.99 instead of the actual weight. We went round and round and I eventually had to ask for her supervisor hoping for more brains. What cabbage weighs 1 lb? Smh. Napa cabbage are the giant things used for Asian cooking. They're monstrous in size if not organic. Ok, so after 4 times and patience wearing thin, I had to write a review. Sometimes we get such helpful awesome service, but lately this is all we can do. When it's your job to man the self-check out station, that's where you need to be at constantly... not chatting it up with another Fred Meyers employee, and then blame the customer for coming to find you to get checked out after waiting over 4 minutes as they watched you engaging with that employee...that's what happened this evening with the customer service rep in the self-checkout lane, around 8-840ish pm.... you had one job...assist customers in the self checkout lane...just minutes after finally checking my purchase and yapping at me for being rude (I had to come get you and asked you to come check me out), another customer had to flag you down to get help with getting you to verify their license for an alcoholic beverage...same as me! really??? Do you not know what your job description is? Customer service! We the customer MATTER and you were hired to assist us in the self-served check out lanes! I've been shopping at this Fred Meyers for years and this is another rare occasion that I've experienced such blatant poor customer service. Most of the customer service reps that I've encounter in the checkout lane do such a fine job of being very pleasant and extremely helpful!! I bought an air compressor in early March. I specifically asked what the return policy is, knowing that it might not work for my needs. They assured me I had 90 days to return it no problem. Today I went to return it, and they refused to honor their own policy and our agreement. The clerk even agreed they aren't honoring the terms of the sale. They say it's for safety - they don't want to put returned products back on shelves due to COVID-19, however that's irrational because: 1. They still accept returns within 14 days, which is obviously still plenty of time for the virus to contaminate a package. So the 14 day time frame is totally arbitrary. 2. They don't have to screw people over to keep everyone safe. They could give us our money back and simply not put the product back on the shelves. Either their leadership is not rational or more likely, they saw an opportunity to keep people's money and took it, probably assuming the public would accept their behavior due to the pandemic. read more

Buyer Beware If you purchase Ashley Furniture from Fred Meyer and something goes wrong you are just SOL. I purchased an Ashley recliner at Fred Meyer at the end of April but mid June the fiber filling in the arm near the body of the chair had moved and there was just a flat board there. I called Fred Meyer and they said they would have a Manager call me because they didn't have the answer. I didn't hear from anyone. Gave it some time and called back. The Manager was not there so he would call the next day. Didn't hear from him. I called the Ashley Furniture Customer Care and was told Fred Meyer is responsible for the first years warranty. Called Fred Meyer back and got hold of the Furniture Manager Mike and was told "we don't warranty Ashley Furniture Products they do we only do returns for 90 days" Guess what!! Ashley Furniture does not warranty product NOT purchased in their stores "So sorry" But they would send the product to repair it. I just had to find someone to take it apart, re-pad, and re-assemble. $203.00 later my chair will be usable again...sometime in September. So don't buy Ashley Furniture at Fred Meyer because neither of them will back the product. Don't worry Fred Meyer...Ashley Furniture is getting the same kind of review. read more

This Fred Meyer is a great store. They are well stocked and prices are sensible. They have really good sales; especially around holidays. Definitely worth watching for those. We purchase fresh ground hamburger from the meat department exclusively now. It is slightly more expensive than buying off the shelf but, wow, what wonderful hamburger it is. I'm not crazy about meat in general, only because finding "things" hidden within it is gross and too common. Therefore, I had almost entirely stopped eating anything with hamburger in it. ...I just found too many chunks that didn't belong there. But the hamburger from Fred Meyer is truly remarkable. It has an excellent flavor and NEVER has anything suspicious in it. I also like to buy freshly sliced cheese from the deli. Many times, I like to just have some fruit and sliced cheese for dinner and always love it when I get them from this store. It's a treat - top shelf products for sure. The employees are super helpful and friendly. I bought two watermelons there recently. When I cut into one of them, it was dark red and spoiled inside. I didn't check the other one. But I called Fred Meyer to see what they had to say about it. The lady I talked to didn't hesitate. She had me discard both watermelons and told me to come into the store for a refund or to get two more. She told me when they'd be getting a new shipment. I put the watermelons in our compost bin and then went to the store on the day she told me to. NO problems and the replacement watermelons were splendid. I might have to stop spending over $1500 a month in this store... I bought 2 family packs of ribeye's on the 15th they were packed on the 15th as well. The lady hadn't even gotten them into the case yet. We ate one that evening. Saved the other for 2 days. It's the 17th now. I start the rest of my meal and go to get the steaks to season them. The fat has turned purple and they smell awful. So I tossed them. I dug the label out of the trash and it says packed on the 15th use before the 19th. And on the 17th they were rancid. Every watermelon that I purchased from this store was gross and mealy this summer as well. Even the coveted and premium priced Hermiston ones. I just went to this Fred Meyer and wanted to return some Easter baskets that my wife purchased. The problem I had was their system was trying to return the baskets to my EBT card but the baskets have toys in them and are not considered food. The assistant manager, Kevin Meyer was No help. My wife had spent $172 cash but he refused to refund cash. He said it had to go back on the EBT card even though the Easter baskets don't qualify to be purchased on that card. I know as a manager he had the ability to override any refund but he refused. It was $90. Easily could've been refunded in cash. Kevin also said he didn't have to return these items because they were from a Easter. Their return policy says nothing about not returning holiday items. I'm very disappointed in the lack of customer service. I've been shopping at Fred Meyer for 25+ years. Looks like Walmart and Safeway will be my new places to shop. read more

This is a great store that has a little of everything. The quality of items sold is high. The customer service is pleasant and helpful. The store has an easy flow through. (Although, there is a pinch point when entering the east entrance. It has several doors but only 1 that is automatic. So you have a constant "4-way stop".) At one time, this was the busiest Fred Meyer in the franchise. Now that Walmart, Target and soon to open Kohl's, have arrived into the area it may have slowed. When you leave, be careful is you have to turn left onto 176th. It has a moderately blind curve to the road. I typically exit onto Meridian to alleviate the hassle of jumping onto 176th. Not to mention, waiting behind 3-4 hesitant drivers that wait for every to make the turn. read more

I like the concept of Fred Meyer, but this location didn't do it for me. Came in for beer and snacks, but didn't really care for their pricing or offerings. The WinCo nearby is much better. Walked around and found that the soda's overpriced. The beer is a little more expensive. And the junk food selection left my cousin's son wanting more. Sadly, we didn't need anything else, so I couldn't give Fred Meyer a solid shake at it's offerings. we been shopping at Fred Meyed for over 30 years, we moved out here to south hill 6 years ago, the quality of the produce is gone down hill for quite some time, especially since the prices of everything has gone through the roof, but also customer service skills are lacking, there is a guy probably in his 50's in produce that probably has been there for ever, but does not know how to treat people/customer's !!!!! I really like this store and do my weekly shopping almost exclusively at this Fred Meyer. The products are always good and the in-season produce is always fresh. The service is always friendly. The cashiers never get grumpy with my extensive use of coupons and I have never had to dispute coupon policy with any of them. Once, a cashier even scanned a store coupon for me that I did not know about which ended up saving me over $30 on a large housewares purchase. The one complaint I have is when I ask for the location of an item, I would rather the associate walk me to it than just tell me what isle it is in. I just had the most amazing experience with Rhonda in the deli at the Meridian FM. After explaining to her that I got so busy being a busy busy mama of 3 small boys that I forgot to call the day before to order 3 sandwich trays that I desperately need for a birthday party today. Stopped here for food and drinks before heading to Mount Rainier and staff was helpful. Ordered a half sandwich and two sides for $6 bucks. The pastrami with a bit dry but the sides were pretty good. The penne pasta side dish tasted great, the Mediterranean salad was just ok. Plenty of private lot parking. They even have a Starbucks $ Chase ATM inside. read more
