As a retired customer service manager, it's common these days to see poor service from younger staff that just don't get it. Miles at this location just knocked my socks off with GREAT customer service! I was shopping at this location for the "buy 2, get 2 for free" deal on the 4 pack of my favorite beverage. There were only 3 on the shelf. I asked Miles if there were any in back-stock, and he promptly checked for me, but sadly there were none left. Privately I was prepared for the usual "sorry, can't do it" at that point, but he wasn't done helping me yet- So this amazing fellow gets 4 (cold!) individual cans to "make" a four pack, completing the deal and I happily left with what I sought, in a clever roundabout way. Happy not only that your great ad price was honored, but that a younger person totally "gets" what customer service is all about! I shop here at least 3 times a week. Customer service was above and beyond... until my wallet went missing. All I got was a shrug from the customer service saying "sorry this area is sketchy". She totally blew me off. Came back again to the self service check out person and told her I thought I saw the male outside with my wallet. No offers to review security footage. Nothing. 3 hours later my credit card company has fraudulent charges being tried on Amazon. Thanks for nothing guys. I won't be back and I know you could have done better. This Safeway is more of a quick stop and it's true the checkout lines tend to backup. However, the customer service is unmatchable. Today I called in a total panic as my sons birthday is tomorrow and after trying a few other competitors bakeries in the area, no one was able to meet my needs. Robin (the location manager on when I called), was the kindest person. She made me feel important and valued. She went above and beyond to make sure my son would have the cake he wanted for his birthday. I will forever be thankful for her and her outstanding customer service. Outside of this experience; the store is always clean and tidy. I've always been able to find what I need in a pinch. This used to be my go to grocery store even when the new one was built. I live right in between them and it's the same distance for either. They get two stars because, most of their day shift employees are pleasant. Going into the night though...? Yikes. I would only recommend going to this location over the nicer and better stocked one down the road if you would like to feel like to revisit your childhood feelings of being in trouble OR you enjoy being stalked while you shop by the "extremely pleasant" nightshift guy that must have not passed the requirements for bouncer, mall cop, or detective. If you stare too long at the cereal... BAM PEEKING AROUND THE CORNER! change your mind and put something back that you originally grabbed... CHILLS FROM THE BREATH HITTING THE BACK OF YOIR HEAD (yes. Exaggeration, BUT just as bad..) ohhh or (this next one was a trip to witness..) Go to the bathroom AND LEAVE YOUR CART OUTSIDE OF THE DOORS...? He will take the cart even when told that I saw the owner run to the bathroom, but he will move it anyway, then pull out his cell phone and take a picture then when that lady can't find her cart and goes to get a new one... he will kindly state "oh here's your cart, ma'am" so when you finally check out, he can compare the photo to what you bought without a clue if you put anything back for budgeting? Basically.. every step you take... every move you make... he'll be stalking you. It's funny as I am saying this, but when you're either witnessing it or having it happen first hand, it's not so funny in that moment. So yeah, if you like adventure and want to feel like you're in a real life mystery/suspense movie... go here. Otherwise, go a couple minutes down to Shaw Road and get your shopping done without feeling stalked the whole time and/or questioned while trying to pay for your groceries, AND amazing employees day and night. read more

It took a wheelchair for me to see all the problems with wheelchair disabled parking access. At Safeway, in the downtown Meridian parking lot, my daughter had to wheel around other disabled parking cars. She was in the street. A terrifying site. There was no ramp where I parked. There are more curbs blocked out there. read more

I try to avoid this Safeway, but whenever I do stop in here it always reminds me why I actually hate this place lol. They should definitely do a rehire for all front end employees. Every cashier has an attitude.. almost like they're so upset they have a job? Or mad that I'm buying groceries? It's either attitude or chit chatting.. pretty much everything else beside doing they're job right. Last time I shopped here they threw my groceries down the belt line to be bagged and I seriously couldn't help but burst out in laughter with my gf. Hate this Safeway. Avoid at all costs!!!! It's so close to my house so I end up stopping by on occasion to grab something like tomatoes, or milk, something any grocery store should have. For whatever reason...... they're ALWAYS out of what I need. Last time I stopped in to grab a couple items, cashier threw all of our items down the belt to be bagged. THREW. Horrible, horrible delivery service. Food is never in stock, but there's never any communication. Just horrendous.

Today I went in and grabbed 4 gallons of milk for my coffee stand because our milk distributor could not make it in the snow. As I was grabbing milk a woman stocking told me I was inconsiderate and that I needed to think about the senior community around town. Over 4 gallons of milk? I asked. She told me to go to a different, "bigger" store in order to purchase 4 gallons. This isn't the first time this has happened to me or my coworkers. The manager of the deli is extremely rude. There is an older woman who would just stand there and have conversations while there are customers waiting, and all the food she puts out looks overcooked. Also the cold salads I get are often luke warm and last time I found hair in mine! read more

Don't go here after dark ! Homeless sleeping along the sidewalk of Safeway and tonight a homeless man was filling up his cart to the top , he casually walks out. I tried to use this store for delivery and it was "ok" for awhile. Then one day they decided to not deliver at the times I picked (6pm-10pm) when someone would be home from work to accept the delivery. They delivered at 5:40pm. TO THE WRONG HOUSE!! I called and the operator said he was giving me a $5 credit for my "inconvenience" and was rescheduling the delivery for the next day. The next day I got no delivery. I called again the following day and got another guy who said they would just refund my money in 3-5 days. It's been 3 weeks and no money. No groceries. I have given up on this store. Little man can't compete with big business. There are others stores to shop at and Safeway just lost a customer for life. DO NOT USE THEIR DELIVERY SERVICE. read more

It seems that I'm making my way through Safeways lately depending on which way I'm traveling home. I've stopped in here a few times in the last couple of weeks and the store always seems clean, although it's smaller than other Safeways, and the employees have been friendly and helpful. I've only had a good experience here with smiles and quick service. read more

This shopping location is extremely convenient for me as it is close to home and my son's daycare. I usually shop here only because of its convenient location and parking usually isn't too chaotic -- meaning I can get a parking spot next to a cart return and when you have an almost 3 year old -- that is very handy. This is a very small store so I don't come here for specialty items but for basic pantry/freezer things. Although the bakery department is small -- at least two of the employees there are SO friendly. We have ordered cakes from them before and they have turned out beautifully. One of the cakes was for a cake decorator friend and she was impressed too! They always give my son a free cookie, which makes his day. There are a few employees that consistently seem like they got out on the wrong side of the bed but then there are a few employees who are consistently friendly. I just avoid the not so nice employees and don't mind standing in line a few moments longer for a nicer cashier. They've helped me a few times finding items or resolving poor customer service issues and Ruth is GREAT. She is always friendly, has a smile, and has worked with me a couple of times when something wasn't right. I'm not woo woo on their produce but I am able to get a few pinch items. Well, after dozens of more times shopping here since my last review, it's time I 1-up this place to 5 stars! I've noticed that the cleanliness has picked up and I've seen less sketchiness around this place at night. The biggest thing for me today though, was when the cashier took a penny out of HER OWN WALLET so I didn't have to break a dollar! It's OK. Convenient location - on the way home from the "park-and-ride" near the Fairgrounds. Small size gives it some pretty big limitations compared to the bigger stores, such as a meat department that is all but hidden and a very limited bakery. Parking lot gets pretty crazy compared to the Safeway on Main. I would go to this produce department anytime over the one on Main. I like the cashiers better at this location too over the Main store. read more

Absolutely longest lines EVER!! I've lived here for nine years and they have two checkers working all the time. Really!? Lines are always backed up Down the isle of shoppers. If it weren't because the store was so close....I'd avoid it all together. Awful!! read more

Not big on this place. Only reason I go is because its so freakin close. The check out lines are always packed, not very well layed out. If there is a lot people there the lines go down freezer aisle. The organic selection is poor. And I always feel the workers there are in a bad mood. Not my favorite grocery store at all. Meh. There are times when this place is a nice in and out experience. There are other times when you just need a single item or two and you end up in line for 10+ minutes, what gives!!! Can we at least get two self checkout stations. Please? Regardless, like most people mention, the location makes it an easy choice for a quick grab when you need it most, but more often than not, we find ourselves hitting up the fred meyer on river road or even heading up the hill to top food or tacoma boys. read more

I started shopping here after moving to the area a little over a year ago and though its a smaller store than on South Hill or the one on Main l prefer this one for convenient location even if they don't always carry what lm looking for they make up for it with customer service, everyone is very friendly and helpful, l've never had any trouble parking, but l do try to avoid the downtown area when the fair is going on, this store has more of a comfortable feel like the neighborhood store back in the day! It's my new favorite place to shop! read more

For me and my family, this is the most convenient grocery store close to us. Though its a smaller store, that's where we always try and go. There are certain products we can't get or have limited selections on. However, I can always count on a clean store with helpful employees. read more
