Lately, I started paying more attention to gas prices. Or, as we yuppies say "being more mindful of my spending". Fred Meyer often has some of the lowest prices in town. And that's BEFORE you scan your Fred Meyer card for an additional 3-10 cents off per gallon. I now refuse to get gas anywhere else. I still don't like the weird kiosk setup though. The smell of fish is so terrible it lingers from the back of the store in the meat department throughout the clothing area. It is sickening how awful it smells. you finally did a Fred Meyer you've pushed me to move away from using your store at all. First off today, I was blown away. You had a ton of employees working on a Saturday, which is fantastic, but it would be smart if the shelves were stocked prior to having a store full of people. The manager that had all the time in the world to sit in the electronics department talking with the one employee while everyone else is working must feel really good for all of the employees. Especially the employee in line at customer service. I have to let you know. I absolutely hate your BS coupons that I have to do all the work for to get discount. Why do you advertise something at the discounted coupon? Only price? Why do I have to enter my phone number? If I still have to click the coupon. This is such a stupid system. But you say it's so easy just go through and click the coupons that you need. do you know that you have over 400 coupons per week in the app that's almost a full-time job just to click coupons to get 2 to 3 dollars off per item. Part is you advertise that price and I assume that it's the Fred Meyer use your rewards card price. Because obviously they're clearly labeled. That was sarcasm. They are never clearly labeled half the time they haven't even taken the sale price down from the week prior. I'm frustrated and agitated that the only way for me to find out if it's a digital coupon if I was unsure to hit total, then go back and look at all the items. Or scan all of the items that I purchase in the app to see if there's a coupon. Then scan them again at self check out because I am an employee of the store who hast to work as well. I wish they could do something about the music in here. also, am I allowed to take my 10 minute break? It's frustrating that the majority of the registers open are the ones that are self check out. You have somehow convinced the world that it's convenient for me to do all the work. What are you gonna ask me if I would like to tip my cashier? I want to give you some quick and simple solutions. To the manager, if you have time to lean, you have time to clean there are 1000 things that you could be doing other than flirting with a girl that you are interested in. To whoever created the digital coupons. I hope you meet the demise similar to what Garfield used to say. I shouldn't have to go through 400+ coupons every time I come to your store to make sure that I'm getting a good deal I should be able to put in my phone number as a record member and it should go on automatically. The same BS that you did what I just stated above because it's the right thing to do. you should never advertise a price that is only for special customers willing to go through your BS. The girl working customer service I am sorry I was agitated when I called. I'm probably more agitated that you are the only person with that many people in line and not a manager in site to help you instead they are too busy chatting it up. I have tried several times to use your to the best of my ability when it tells me it's on aisle 17 and it's not there it's frustrating. Then I go to employee and ask for help. They tell me it's on aisle 17 because they're using the same app. then when we walk back and check aisle 16, 17 and 18. They say it must be out. It's strange because I am able to order it for in-store pick up or delivery. How do you not know where the items that you stopped are in your store? I am typically not someone who likes to write anything below two or three star, but today you truly hit a nerve. care more about profits. and confusing your customers than you do about taking care of your customers and your employees. read more

I packed my groceries and one of the products leaked while still checking out. So, I had to go get new vegetables. Two of the vegetables were weigh items. Had to go to customer service (waited over 20 minutes). It should also be known that a manager came to help the agent and refused to stay and help the rest of us in line. Now after he refunds I guess I'm going to have to wait in the grocery line again. The products needed rewrites were squash and a grapefruit. Would not have broke this company to just exchange. Fred Meyer has always been one of my go to grocery stores . I haven't been inside a store since the hunker down policy was initiated in Anchorage . I know we are beginning to open back up which is why I was even out . I was terribly disappointed to find out that unlike Costco Fred Meyer does not require their customers to wear masks . By doing this they are putting their employees at greater risk . Shame on you Fred Meyer management . Our grocery store workers are essential workers I appreciate what they are doing . I usually shop at Fred's off Muldoon but since I've moved i use this location. I just moved back to Alaska and i have to use the delivery service. I love i was able to get a text when an item wasn't in stock and they sent a pic of the replacement item. Now I've shopped this store many times before since it's close to work and never had an issue. So happy it's just a 13 minute walk from my house. Can't wait until I'm off quarantine since i you know i flew in lol. I want to walk around and find what i need. read more

My wife recently did Christmas shopping with two of our grandchildren to help them buy presents for their parents. One item they selected (properly marked with the price at the store) rang up with the wrong price at the checkout. My wife was told that they cold not have the item at that price as it was too low, so the clerk/manager argued with my wife on what to to do. eventually the dept manager went to the location , found another item similar and the purchase was completed. But --maintained that it was my wife's fault because they had mismarked the items(multiple). Not very positive customer service when she spent over $200 on that visit. read more

Although this is my favorite Freddies, I recently had an experience that aggravated me so bad that I left my cart in the middle of the aisle and walked out of the store. The store had an EMPTY produce section. When I say empty, I mean ENTIRE shelves completely devoid of EVERYTHING. Nothing left on them at all. How a produce manager could allow this to happen is beyond me. I have never in my life seen an empty shelf at a store of this caliber. Totally unacceptable. It wasn't even a Sunday afternoon. Then I went to the deli department in search of roast beef and they were out. And they weren't exactly helpful or apologetic about it. Strike two, Fred's. I drove 5 miles out of my way to shop at this store and they super pissed me off. Fred Meyer on Abbott is my go-to store. I now know where most stuff is AFTER they changed everything around store wide!! I love when they have sales in meat....for example, buy one get on free! Or buy one get one 50% off! Fruit and vegetables are fresh and very good prices. When canned goods are on sale thats when I stock up. I have started shopping at this Fred's location more regularly now, and not just when I am heading back into town after visiting Potter Marsh, for example. Even though I live in Anchorage's awesome eastside, I take the drive to this store since the Fred's on Muldoon has become increasingly disappointing these past several months. This store on Abbott Road (found easily via Elmore Drive) is well organized, bright and decently stocked. I especially appreciate the fine job done in the produce department and in women's apparel. And get this- I about fell over when an employee came up to me at the self scanners as I was ringing up my good stuff, and asked me if I had found everything alright. I actually stopped for a moment, rather stunned, because there ain't no way anyone would hear such a thing at the Muldoon store. So, I told him- yes! I found everything I was looking for, then added in my two cents sharing what a nice store this is, especially compared to the Muldoon store. Seeing the smile on his face helped to make my visit all the more worthwhile. read more

This is my favorite Fred Meyer. Unlike the other three locations in town, this one is easy to navigate (both the store and the parking lot), generally clean and well-stocked, AND has great customer service, even at the self-checkout area. I will sometimes drive to shop at this one even though I live closer to another Fred Meyer. Also unlike the other locations, the Starbucks inside this Fred Meyer is separated from the rest of the store, which makes it a nice place for a coffee break before or after shopping. The dining area by the deli and hot food bar is smaller than those at other stores though. Only (minor) downside of this location is that it's not the quickest when it comes to getting new products in stock. I've noticed the W. Dimond location gets new items first and I won't see them at this store until several weeks later. But if I'm restocking on basic groceries and household items, this is my location of choice. read more

This is a solid grocery store, as a tourist from out of state it was a nice reliable place to visit where the locals shop and pay non-tourist prices for basic items, including some souvenirs too. This is a super market, I think part of the same ownership of Ralphs (here in So Cal), so the pricing is fair and competitive to their peers with good deals when you know what to look for. read more

I come here a few times a month because I need to get from A to B in a vehicular transport. Place usually has water and a sponge thing to wash windows, room in the trash bins(a plus), and enough room to get in and out when it's busy. There is a retail section to buy oil, window washing fluid, smelly trees, etc... Sometimes there will be firewood during the summer. Recently, I refilled my little propane tank for the grill and had to get it from the person manning the little island check-out kiosk. It was really busy at the time, so it was a bit of a wait, which is unfortunate for the person since they had to leave to fill it up and other people waiting weren't as patient as they could have been. read more

I came down here today to pick up some groceries earlier this afternoon. This Fred Meyers is located on the corner of Abbott Rd. and Lake Otis Pkwy just behind the Carl's Jr. The parking lot is noticeably smaller and more cramped compared to the W. Dimond location. Luckily, parking was not hard to find close to the entrance as people are constantly coming and going. Availability of items here are hit and miss. When I came in last month to buy a couple of items for the gym and some Christmas gift ideas, I went to their clothing section to find a specific pair of gray sweatpants that they had on sale. I was told they were temporarily out of stock and that I had to come in next week when a new shipment comes in. The following week, I called ahead to have the sweatpants held for me. When I arrived, I was disappointed to find they held the wrong one for me. I asked if any other locations had the one I was looking for. The employee helping me called the other stores and after a couple of minutes, she told me that the Debarr location had the item in stock. Fortunately, they had the item I was looking for despite not really wanting to drive across town during the rush hour. Aside from that, the employees here have always been friendly and helpful. Grocery items like snacks, cleaning supplies, and toiletries are usually in stock compared to the consistently empty shelves at Walmart. The one thing that stands out at this place compared to the other Fred Meyers locations is the customer service at the checkout area. The floor manager keeps a close eye on the long lines at the cash registers during busy times and guides customers to an available register or shorter lines to keep the aisles free from over-crowding. Walmart needs to make an example out of this when it gets really busy around 4 or 5PM. I decided to give them three stars for the coordinated service rather than two in spite of the confusion surrounding the clothing item I needed. Still, the overall shopping experience here beats the Walmart down the street any day. read more

They carry certain brands for a while then they are constantly out....never fails they are out of stock on organic yogurts (Brown Cow individual cups) and their organic fruits have really gone way down hill in quality. Great experience here today. We first came just to eat at the deli, they have 2 piece chicken meals with two sides and a Hawaiian style roll for $5.99 which is a great deal and most times we can't finish our meals- they give very generous side portions. Plus the chicken is super juicy, better than Popeyes's or KFC in my opinion. The guy at the deli was super helpful, 5 stars just for him. We were going to do our shopping for shampoo/toiletries at Target because Fred Meyer is usually more expensive (usually almost a dollar more here PER ITEM) buuuuut... they had a great sale going on and with our member appreciation coupon and additional coupons we spent about $10 less than I was planning on spending at Target. And the cashier Ron was great! Super helpful, super fast but not rushing me. Plus they had 36 pack water with a $2.79 sign in front of it which is a steal... until I read the fine print that it was only for 24 pack waters and that the 36 pack waters are $3.79 which is still a good deal- but I'd snapped a picture of the sign and water in front of the sign and he gave me the 36 pack for $2.79! I wasn't the one who put the sign in the wrong place and I sure appreciated his good customer service, couldn't believe he gave me the better price. Also they had a deal on triscuit crackers which are normally about $3.79 a box but were on sale at $2.29 AND if you buy two you can use a $1.00 off coupon, which I had two. So for about $7 I got four boxes. Again great deals if you plan ahead. My mom loves those crackers so I gave her two boxes lol. We will be going here now first instead of Target. read more

The employee helping me at the customer service desk was not happy that I was also purchasing an item. She told me in a very unfriendly manner that this counter was only for returns and money orders, not for purchasing items. I would understand if I had had a cart full of merchandise to purchase, but a few items? I have never been told this in other Fred Meyers' customer service desks. I usually have a great experience here. I have recognized how well they get snow cleared etc. however tonight I ran in to get flowers for my wife on Mother's Day. As I tried to leave an overzealous greeter demands a receipt for my three flowering plants before allowing me to leave. I had to go get the line manager to vouch for me before I could go. The greeter seems to wish he was a security guard or cop. He generally seemed very excited to exert some sort of authority. I'm not sore that a middle aged man with three plants is a high crime profile but hey Fred Meyers may just refocusing their business direction. I was in need for some new shoes for my daughters trip to Hawaii. With her not with me it was a struggle, as I walked around each shelf all lost and confused and young lady came up to me and asked if I needed help looking for a certain pair of shoes. With her having her mask on I can hear from her tone of voice she has a big smile on. I won't forget her name because it was a color my daughters favorite color purple, so her name was Violet in the shoe department 6/8/2020. I explained to Ms. Violet exactly what I needed and she gave me a tour of all the young girls shoes and described each pair. Not only I got one pair but 2 pairs and so I asked her about fashion that will go with these shoes and she directed me to right outfit by the way my daughter loves. With this type of customer service it was absolutely wonderful and made my shopping more easier and well experienced. This is one of my favorite Freddie's in town. The cheese selection is really good. This particular location has more natural foods offerings than some of the other locations though their bulk food selection isn't my fave. The deli is decent and once in a blue moon I will get a piece of their yummy fried chicken or one of their wedges of ice berg drizzled in blue cheese dressing. Another item I haven't seen at other locations is the Talenti gelato in the frozen section. Flavors include Morrocan Blood Orange, Tahitan Vanilla Bean, Dark Chocolate(the 3 flavors go fabulous together). This location is our go-to for any and everything. It's literally a two min drive from our house so we're here quite often. Everyone is always so friendly and helpful. Never fails when I walk in someone always asks if I need assistance or help finding anything. More so the younger guys that are working but I just advise them I know my way around by now lol. They have everything. It's like a Walmart on steroids. We don't have this at home so I was excited to check it out. It starts at clothing, has your entire grocery list covered, then you can get some home decor with a gun or two. So random. Great choices. EXCEPPTTTTT. we bought king crab legs for $25. Cool, when in Alaska, right? No they went bad in our fridge within. Few hours. They're in our freezer now to avoid smell in the RV. Complete let down! And we will never see that $25 again. read more

Absolutely disappointed in this place. Store charged me for a rug they didn't have in stock, offered a color I didn't want, called nearest store and still couldn't tell me if they had it either. When I asked for a refund then instead of getting something I didn't want, I was directed to go on my own to Customer Service. Like I could just show up with the receipt and say "I didn't get this, refund me!" Yea, no, walk with me up there and explain! After twenty minutes in their RIDICULOUS Customer Service line, I got my refund. Bottom Line; should of never charged me for an item they didn't have on hand. Lesson learned for sure. read more

I have been loving living so close to this location. They have the best deals and a great produce selection with a lot of organic products. If they could just better put all the organic stuff in one spot, i would have few complaints. The Starbucks and bakery are always so pleasant to stop by, and the deli at night the boys working are so nice and friendly! The deli manager in the morning can be kind of rude and avoidant of customers. The management are always so friendly and always say hello! My favorite are the cheese kiosk samples and when the Starbucks walks their drinks around! Sundays are bustling! read more

This place let me return bear spray that was removed from the package but unused. This is also a great place to stock up on food on the way down the Seward highway. Spending money here unfortunately supports the sprawling of "Las Anchorage" but they let me return my bear spray and get back $50. read more
