I had a very weird experience with a delivery order. Something didnt make it in the order so I went to my purchases to request a refund on the app. My order isn't appearing anymore. It was made through the app and I could edit it in the app until the purchase was actually made. I received an email with a link but it doesn't take my to my receipt. Customer service helped me with my request and said they would send a pdf copy of my receipt. They never did this. Instead I'm now getting an email from someone saying I owe the store more money. They acknowledge I was charged $74.73, they won't tell me how much more I owe, and they're asking permission to charge me more. Unlike others, I don't see much difference between the various Freddy Meyerii in town. They are all pretty much the same to me. They are, in my opinion, the best grocery stores we have in Alaska. But, if they were in the lower 48...I'm not sure I would really go much to them. They generally have better quality and lower prices than Carrs though, so they are where I go. They have a guy named Mickey working at their customer service counter who has zero idea what that word means. I was buying a money order and had 3 other items to purchase. I asked him if I could buy them there and he snapped no, i literally thought he was joking. I've never had that before and I had fold my toddler we could pay for his hot wheels car. This Fred Meyer is located on Dimond Blvd. Their parking lot is large and includes convenient secured bins for clothing donations. We're here often. Despite this, I find myself walking through multiple aisles searching for the simplest of items. By now I know produce is on one side of the building, and clothing/electronics are on the opposite side. The restrooms, liquor store, and pharmacy are all upfront. We choose to have our prescriptions filled at this Fred Meyer pharmacy. They have a convenient drive-thru and their prices are usually cheaper than Walgreens. Fred Meyer Pharmacists make every effort to fill prescriptions in a timely fashion. We appreciate that. read more

Anyone familiar with Fred Meyer knows they have a little bit of everything. Groceries, hardware, clothing, home goods, you name it, they probably have some options in stock for it. This location has a mini-Starbucks, pharmacy, liquor store, and jewelry department (?). I go there mostly for the groceries, which seem to be average in price with a decent if not amazing selection. If you don't feel like facing the crowds, you can select your groceries online (free with a small minimum order total) and schedule a pick up in the parking lot. One oddity I always encounter here - my phone's data always acts screwy in the store, even though I don't connect to the guest wireless service. Who knows why. read more

You can find most of it... Clothing, car stuff or groceries. Pretty darn close to one stop shopping. If you want guns or ammunition, you'll have to go somewhere else as they no longer carry them. The quality of the Store brand products they carry is pretty good with a lot of quality name brand selections as well. They lose most of their points in the produce section. I see a lot of empty bins on Sunday afternoon when I go to the market. The stuff that is on the shelves, looks pretty tired a lot of the time. I guess that's the price of living in Alaska. read more

Fred Meyer is a great store. It's a affiliated with Kroger in the lower 48 or maybe just Michigan. I get to use my Kroger card for coupons and rewards. I really like that. Being in Alaska for a couple months with not too much to do, I shop daily for dinner supplies. They have in store specials and items on sale due to the date of the food. There are many Fred Meyer stores through Anchorage. This one is the closer to my stay. If you go to other stores they sometimes have different sale items they are trying to unload. One thing that caught my eye is they have a supervised play room for small children. How cool. read more

I just wanted to compliment a possibly new cashier at the Dimond Fred Meyer named Marty according to my receipt. I shop at this location almost weekly with my toddler who loves to ride in the cart and help me grocery shop. I was in the check out line and noticed this cashier was clean-cut, well-dressed & had a genuine smile. He was also very courteous, kind & professional which I find is rare at any grocery stores these days unfortunately! I also noticed that he was very patient with a lady in front of me who had many coupons to use and he made sure that she entered her rewards number to maximize her savings which was thoughtful of him. I had a full cart of groceries & chose his line because he had a bagger helping him. I apologized for unloading a huge order and told him I picked his line because I saw he had help but his bagger just went on break. He just smiled & laughed and said "No worries at all...I'll just have to take a pause to bag some of the groceries until I can continue scanning the rest of your groceries. What a positive attitude! Then, my toddler had to make an urgent trip to the restroom while we were halfway through checking out (haha...great timing I know!) and again he reassured me not to worry and helped me move my cart while he finished scanning & bagging my big order! Luckily, when I came back, he had some help from a sweet older lady who has worked there for a long time (although I'm sorry I forget her name now). She was so kind to my son & I and even gave him a cute Fred Bear sticker. Marty thanked me for shopping and they were both just so sincere, helpful & professional and deserve to be recognized!! This grocery store was down the road from were I stayed and this store is huge. It has everything from clothes to groceries to hardware items. It's nice loved the deli here also, some of the best bacon ever and king crab legs you'll ever will eat. It's got a liquor store inside the store which is nice, every time I came in here it was packed. read more

I'm very disenchanted with Fred Meyer after my visit to this store, yesterday. The only people around to help were doing some special project and didn't know the store. I used the phone to get help and no one answered. I finally found an employee and they said they didn't know where the item was located. FM used to have helpful employees that would offer to go to the location, if needed. Not anymore, apparently. This store was my favorite. The flower department was set up in such a way, you walked into the foyer of flowers. They've changed that, unfortunately. read more

This is one of the better Fred Meyer locations among the four in Anchorage. The store itself is clean and easy to navigate. Employees at registers and throughout the store are generally friendly and helpful. Fred Meyer has great deals and coupons in their weekly ad. Often coupons are also available in store or employees will scan coupons from the weekly ad for you if you don't have it. Produce selection is good but being Alaska, it tends to be on the pricey side. The parking lot can be a bit chaotic, but it's definitely not as bad as the Northern Lights location. Right now this is the only Fred Meyer without its own gas station, but there is currently one being built that should be complete by the end of the year. I will say though, this location seems to run out of stock of certain items quickly but they're slow to restock. For a week or so they didn't have a single pint of Halo Top so I had to go to the Abbott location since I had so many coupons to use. read more

Fred Meyer. We don't have one in Sacramento. This reminded me of a Walmart Superstore. It has everything. My friends got their fishing license and some bullets. On the grocery side, I found a lot of vegan products and even their store brand bread was labeled "Suitable for Vegans". Alcohol is in a separate little area for purchase. I was going to buy my own alcohol but the cashier had to see the IDs of my friends as well so I had to wait for them to pick out whatever they wanted and make it to the cashier and show their ID. Prices are good, selection is great and the staff is awesome. Seriously skip the crappy Targets and Walmarts. Fred Meyer is an Alaskan institution. Most importantly, if you are looking for Alaskan gifts - t-shirts, mugs, trinkets or other memorabilia - skip the gift shops down on 4th Ave and just go to Fred Meyer. You'll get the same selection for half the price. Unless you're looking for real, hand-crafted native arts, you're gonna find it here for half the price. read more

I like this store. I grew up in the area but I live on rabbit creek so Abbott is my store now. Abbott sucks and Seems to always be out of stuff thankfully Dimond is on my way home. Problem is the young kids with attitude who work there who you ask to try and correct something they get all snotty with attitude and correct it with attitude. No good customer service, especially today a kid named Jesse in the self service line gave me crap for a deal. He fixed it with attitude. Terrible customer service when it comes to that. I like this store, my only complaint is while using delivery service due to covid 19, I've had a few problems, like having something I didn't order added to my cart then not even receiving the item or a refund. Also don't try the replace with a similar item because often it's something over priced and weird. This is my preferred location for grocery shopping out of the four Fred Meyers in town. The parking lot can be crowded but it's more manageable for me rather than the chaotic mess of the Northern Lights location or the tightly spaced area of the Abbott location. I have gone to the Debarr location a few times but the parking lot is just as condensed and unlike the other locations, there are regular visits from the police at that location. What makes this store different from the others is the layout of the front area. I can easily manage my way to the grocery aisles in the back since the produce area's displays are spaced wider than the other stores. NL and Debarr has a produce area that is clustered together with the deli area right next to it which makes crowds a pain to navigate through during rush hour. There are some good deals when it comes to groceries, meat, and produce especially in the Sunday flier. The best deal I found was a complete Easter family meal for baked spiral-sliced ham complete with all the sides for $59.99. No one believes me when I say this, but the baked ham at the Fred Meyers deli is better than any other place I've ordered ham from here in town. I'm aware that Walmart would have lower prices than both Carrs or Fred Meyers, but I'm willing to pay a little more for comfort and convenience than going through the nightmare of the registers, understocked shelves, spoiled produce, and clueless employees that is Wallyworld. read more

It's our Alaska - Kroger Store one of the 2 large chain Grocery stores here in Alaska 3 if you count Walmart. But it's much more it's kind of got everything. It's got Drive Through Banking AN Alaska USA Federal Credit Union. It's got A Pharmacy, Housewares, Cooking, Hardware, Automotive and Sporting Goods - Fishing, Hunting Licenses - A Boar's Head Deli ... A Boar's Head Meat Deli did I say that twice there's a reason it's where we come for our sandwich meats! Hot or cold prepared foods like pasta, bean and potato salads and fried chicken, ribs, egg rolls and prepared hot soups. Butcher, Seafood add a Jewelry, and Liquor Store okay if you can't find it at Costco you'll find it here! I like their organics their vegetables in organics a few years back were skimpy and wilted but they've actually made strides in organics and Gluten Free. Oh need Ice?? I've never thought of leaving a review for a grocery, but I was there yesterday and thought how much I prefer the Dimond Freddy's, so maybe I should share. Lo and behold, it's a thing on Yelp already! Learning a lot here. But I digress. This is, for our needs, the best place for our groceries and the occasional sundry goods. They have a better selection of organic or local produce than, say, the Northern Lights. (The layout makes more sense, too.) Their bakery and deli items also tend to be fresher--never had a stale purchase here. I like the addition of the Murray's cheese when I can't make it to the local cheese shop. I also like their greenery, which lasts quite a while. And if something dies shortly after we buy it (like a sad Poinsettia last holiday), they'll take it back. They also do rain checks, but I've only needed that once. That's good customer care. My one beef: sometimes not stocked with staple items for me when I hit them on a weekend. Grocerying is a chore for me to start with, and it puts a serious damper on the shopping trip if I discover I'll have to return another day. In comparison with the other large grocery chain in town, Freddy's is consistently cheaper and sells more of what I like. Plus, we can buy a toilet chain, etc, at the same time as we get groceries. So, I'd hit any of the stores before their competition. read more

By far the nicer of the two FM's in midtown/west Anchorage. I've been a FM shopper since 1989, right after we moved for the first time to the Pacific Northwest. Have shopped FM's all through both Oregon and Washington. The chain itself actually originated in Oregon. As Fred Meyers go, this one is pretty good. The layout makes more sense than the other one on Northern Lights. Selection of specialty items seems to be better here probably because they stock more based on the demographics of the area. Prices here relative to the FMs in the lower 48 appear to average anywhere from $.50-$2.00 higher per item, so I'm still getting used to the fact I get to the end of my money a helluva lot quicker shopping up here than we did down in WA. Also, the aisles in the FM's up here seem to be a lot narrower. They don't help my claustrophobia very much when I'm stuck behind some other shopper and unable to pass because the aisle isn't wide enough lol. Parking here is so much easier than it is at the Northern Lights store, where their parking lot is a total nightmare. This FM's parking lot is much more open and conveniently located next to a Burlington Coat Factory just in case you can't find the coat you want at FM LOL! I am still a big fan of FM relative to Walmart as far as one stop shopping goes largely because they have a better selection of speciality items and the clientele are a little less shady as a rule. However, the prices are a bit higher. If you're not poor, you can absorb the cost, but if money is a big issue, you may want to consider Walmart. read more

Also, the parking lot is a zoo because it is surrounded by Burlington Coat Factory, Planet Fitness, and Joann Fabrics. This makes getting in and out a little stressful. But it is still better than Carrs for price and selection. read more

I usually shop at this Fred Meyer at least 2 times a week. The employees I have had interactions with for the most part are friendly. I really like they do the digital coupons, but one thing I don't care for that they do is they have been doing a deal where it's buy 6 of participating items and save $3. Well when they put the sign up it doesn't say that the price showing on the tag is the price that you will get the item for after buying 6. Instead it makes you believe it's the price now and then you would get the additional $3 off when you buy the 6 items. The store is pretty clean all time which is a plus. Also their rewards program gets you money back from things your going to need to buy anyway. I will continue to shop here instead of other ones because it is the closest to my house. read more

I like shopping here because of the large range of items they carry. Sometimes the store can be rather busy, and I'm not that social, so I'll go down a quiet aisle to gain my bearings after entering. They have decent sales, and I usually end up spending a lot less than expected when I'm buying non-food sale items. I've found that the quality of their clothing tends to be better than any of the stores in the Dimond mall down the street. Pretty much all of the clothes I'm wearing at the moment are from this store. Its kind of sad when a mall with multiple clothing stores gets beat by an overgrown grocery store. Rotten Fruit from time to time, careful. I picked up some blackberries and had some white fungus on them. Also, wheat bread was molding after 4 days. Don't even bother with trying to buy furniture because of the following: -Impossible to find someone to help -When you finally track someone down, it takes them 20-25 minutes to run back to warehouse and check to ensure it's in stock Make sure that if/when you decide to purchase something, you keep it because you will ALWAYS stand in line for quite some time to return anything as they are continuously understaffed in the Customer Service area. I had to deal with a manager a couple of times named Brian; I'd rather talk to wallpaper as personality is more desirable. I really wonder how some people get their jobs during this ongoing recession--crazy. All in all, the store seems disorganized and increasingly chaotic with a lack of oversight and detailed quality control which I would think would be absolutely essential at least in the grocery area--scary. read more
