I cannot truly express how much I love this studio. I started at Fred Astaire Austin in May of 2017, a little apprehensive about going into a ballroom dance studio with no partner. But I was told it was okay to do so, and it absolutely was!! I have learned so much, dancing with my instructor, Dillon. He is patient, kind, funny, and a very good teacher. He breaks things down so you understand what he is asking of your body, and he is a strong lead, which helps guide your body in each movement. Dillon truly believes that every person can learn to dance, and he is there to find a way to teach you so that you can learn it well enough to take it out to a social dance floor. You can't ask for anything more than that! The classes they offer every month are fun and invaluable. They have classes for different levels that will help you learn more social dances or better technique, depending on what you are looking for or what you are working on. I love each class for different reasons, and I appreciate all of the instructors (Hannah, Dillon, Damion, and Aleena) that work so hard to provide amazing classes every night. The atmosphere is light and fun. The students are supportive and not judgemental in any way. We love when new students come in and we welcome them all with open arms. Fred Astaire Austin is a family that likes to laugh and dance!! Our fearless leader, Laura, has a HUGE heart and she truly wants every single one of us to succeed. She is very supportive of her instructors and all of their students. This studio is the most fun I've had dancing EVER. I've never felt so loved and appreciated in a dance environment in my life. When my day at work is coming to a close, I can't wait to get on that dance floor and push my body and mind to achieve a new result. I never really leave reviews but I just wanted to make others aware that at this location at least, two of us applied for a dance instructor role that had been posted online and were brought in multiple times for a dance lesson and trial. We were told they were wanting to grow the business and that we didn't need to have prior ballroom experience (we came from other dance fields), and that a big part of the role was customer service and sales. Both of us interviewing were in contact throughout the process, and both of us were completely ghosted by the owner despite multiple emails. I understand if we weren't the best fit, but to not ever give us closure in the process was very disappointing and unprofessional. Ghosting people is hurtful. read more

The QC Fred Astaire studio is pretty great. Instructors (morgan) are very good. Patient. Competent, appropriately funny, good at communicating corrections when needed in a supportive manner. Flexible lesson options meet most budgets. read more

The staff is very welcoming and highly knowledgeable on ballroom dancing. The one on one lessons with each instructor focuses on your personal place in dancing to help you learn and excel. The group classes are at a moderate pace but the instructors are always open to questions and reviewing different parts of the material. From the super talented and friendly instructors to extremely inviting atmosphere here, you really can't choose a better place to learn and improve on your dancing! I'm just getting back into dance for fun. I've worked with Damion, Aleena, and Dillon (apologies if I've spelled things wrong!) & they're all just lovely. Aleena is a sweet as can be, Damion's energy is contagious, and Dillion will simply sweep you off your feet. All instructors are very professional and follow the same protocol in teaching, which is new for me, but seems to be working well. I joined the studio about a year ago after it had just opened. Since then, it's been a blast - making me want to come back for more. Liz and Ben and her staff are super friendly, funny, upbeat, encouraging, making you feel comfortable and at home from the moment you step into the studio. They also are super competent; no matter what your reasons are for wanting to dance - to learn social dancing, prepare for your wedding, or advance through proficiency levels and compete - the studio can accommodate you and will make you feel confident all along the way. This is one of the things I really love about this studio and these instructors in particular, they truly want you to become the best dancer you can possibly be, and they will work with you to accomplish just that, while having a lot of fun, and while getting to know lots of fellow dancers. We took four dance lessons with Hannah and it was really helpful for our first dance for our wedding. She was very patient with us and started slow since I have two left feet. By the end I felt a lot more confident dancing in front of everyone i know. Everyone there was super friendly as well. I had signed up for two lessons at the bridal extravaganza and that was definitely the way to do it. Saved me a lot of money doing it that way. The best thing I have ever done for myself, and I try to keep my inner child loved and happy, is dancing at Fred Astaire Austin. What's incredible, aside from the great community and family feeling, is how invested each instructor is on your personal path. I dance with Damion, sometimes Dillon, but I've grown further in myself and my worldly comfort than I ever dreamed possible. I signed up for two classes and a group class, hoping to get a waltz routine down for a play, but I ended up findinding and satisfying a piece of my soul. This review is more concerned with their business practices vs. the lessons themselves. I met the Fred Astaire Dance Studio people at the Wedding Extravaganza in Austin, TX. They offered a special of Two Classes for $25... Which I bought. The next day, they sent me an email offering another 2 lessons for $25 - which expecting that we would probably need about 10 lessons, I bought another 2 lessons, expecting to have 4 lessons paid for. When I got to the studio to take my lessons, I was THEN advised that I would only be able to get 2 lessons because they are "introductory lessons" just to see if I want to sign up for a package - which makes sense. I understood the misunderstanding and was not bothered at all. I was told that I would get a refund of the other $25, or that I could apply that to any package that I bought. Well, after the classes (which were fantastic by the way...) and reviewing their packages, I realized that I could not afford the packages they offered. So I've been expecting a refund. I've been waiting a couple months for the refund but have not received it yet. I got one email from a lady named Liz that she would process the refund (this was on 3/22/2016). I followed up again on 3/27 (no reply), I again followed up on 4/11, 5/3, and again today on 5/9... still nothing. I'm hoping they see the review and understand that this is not the way business should be done and make things right. read more

My husband and I have been dancing for eight years with Fred Astaire studios both here in Austin, Houston and Katy. We have to say that Liz is the best! She is so patient, supportive and enthusiastic. She makes our lessons fun while helping us progress each time. We have danced and performed in seven different routines and are now beginning our next one with Liz...she focuses not only on the routine but ensures that what we learn can be danced socially as well.
