Best studio to learn how to dance salsa and bachata in Austin!! I really like how they have a belt system for their class progression, it motivates you to keep learning! Each class has a curriculum of skills to master. Their most popular day is Tuesday, when they offer both salsa and bachata classes for all levels. They also their dance social at 10pm that day. Shoutout to the instructors, especially Hannah, Michael, Morgan, Joseph, Kaitlyn, Marcus, and Favian - they are all fabulous! I would also highly recommend taking private lessons with them to accelerate your learning and get personalized feedback. read more

I really wanted to have a good experience here, but unfortunately my first visit left me feeling incredibly unwelcome. When I arrived, I went to the front desk, made a purchase, and signed up for the next two classes. I specifically explained that I was brand new. At no point was I told that one of the classes I had just signed up for was an advanced class that a beginner would clearly not be prepared for. That alone would have been frustrating, but mistakes happen. What bothered me much more was the complete lack of effort from the coach. As a brand-new face walking into an advanced class, I would have expected the coach to at least introduce himself, ask about my experience level, or give me some idea of what was going on. None of that happened. Not before class, not during class, and not afterward. Instead, I spent the better part of an hour stumbling around trying to figure things out on my own before eventually sitting down. And I didn't sit down because I simply gave up. There was a woman trying to record what I assume was content for social media, and I didn't want my confusion in the background ruining her video. The whole experience left me feeling like I simply wasn't supposed to be there. Ironically, the one person who actually made me feel welcome was Sarah, who I'm not even sure works there. She approached me on her own, introduced herself, told me about the place, and helped me figure out where I needed to be. If it hadn't been for her kindness, I probably would have left without staying for the second class. Unfortunately, the same coach taught that class as well. Once again, there was no introduction or attempt to speak to me before, during, or after class. I don't expect special treatment because I'm new. I do expect basic customer service, especially after I've explicitly told the staff that it's my first time. A simple "Hey, I'm ___, have you done this before?" would have changed the entire experience. I came in interested enough to make a purchase with the intention of becoming a regular and signed up for two classes. I left feeling invisible. Based on that first experience, I don't expect I'll be returning. read more

I've been going to Inspired Movement for about three years now. It's a great dance school, and it attracts a good community. I really appreciate an app to get class passes. Or you could pay cash at the door. The packages are a good deal. They bring in some really great instructors for a few different styles of dance. They have open four times to practice. And the Soundsystem and lights are good for socials. parking has never been an issue for me, but sometimes it gets pretty full. I think it's the only business open that late in this plaza, so no competition really for spots.. read more

Austin Inspired Movement - Two great dance instructors teaching at the studio - Dance Studios Near Me - Austin, Texas

I randomly choose this place to go try Salsa and Bachata last week!! And omg I loved it there. Instructors are super chill and fun! I felt welcome and learned slowly from the basic styling to few steps. There was a social dancing after the classes and we stayed there for a while to see other people dance and dance with them on a few songs. These was amazing. Im going there again Tuesday and excited to learn more steps and dance!!! read more

A friendly, fun, and beginner friendly environment for learning latin dance - I find myself constantly recommending this studio to everyone who is interested in learning latin dancing - Salsa, Bachata, Zouk they have it all. One of the most organized and well ran dance studios and instructions I've ever been to with amazing instructors. Unlike most smaller studios with only three levels of beginner / intermediate / advanced, they split out the levels into their 5/6 different belt levels so you never feel like it's too hard or too easy. Also their A/C and fan system is clutch, especially during the hot Austin summertime. read more

Bad ass studio with great teachers! I took my first Zouk class here this week with Robyn Chance and Lea Rochelle. They were great teachers and I the practice dancing after class with all levels was also great. Highly recommend:) read more

This is such a fun place to go dancing for beginners and experienced dancers alike. On Tuesdays, they have salsa class at 7 pm, bachata class at 8:30 pm, and then social dancing 9:30 pm - 12:30 am. Their instructors are friendly and make it easy to follow along. I like that they have something for everyone, no matter your level of dance experience. Classes are split into subgroups based on knowledge and skill level of dance. The environment is very welcoming, especially for first-timers. Their "Day One" subgroup assumes no prior knowledge and does a great job at teaching the foundations. Their social is the perfect place to practice and dance with people of all levels. And you don't need to bring a partner to take a class; you'll get to dance with everyone in your subgroup. I wish I lived closer to this place because I would come every day. read more

Fabulous teachers and a great community! Learned all the basics in my first class and am having so much fun.

Such a fun place. Wasn't sure what to expect at my first dance class, but Morgan did a great job of keeping it fun and engaging while moving at the pace of the class. Also love how they made sure the newbies had a good experience at the first social. Can tell they care about the community and love to share the joy of movement with others read more

Super welcoming place. Hanna had super comprehensive instructions for total beginners. Made sure to take things slow with everyone and made sure everyone was on the same page with the steps. Was a total beginner but definitely coming back. read more

I loved the first class I took here! This was my first time taking a dance lesson (bachata and salsa) and I learned so much. I'm definitely coming here again, and might even sign up for more classes! read more

Young crowd with a friendly and fun vibe. Might not recommend this for complete beginners to dance as all levels take classes in the same big room, so it could be overwhelming since it's loud and a lot going. But if you have at least a little dance experience this seems to be the place to progressively learn latin dancing in a welcoming space in South Austin. read more

Great bachata class, instructors were great. Found this through a friend. The classes were very well organized!!!

I have taken both group and private bachata lessons with Cal, who is a phenomenal instructor. He makes the material easy to grasp, beyond the 1-2-3-4 and into the feel of the dance even for people like me who are analytical with two left feet. His big personality and love for what he does makes learning fun. WOULD recommend. read more

I bought a package of private lessons here and then proceeded to have several instructors cancel, show up late or forget they had booked a lesson with me. I finally got my money back and left. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. read more

This was a lot of fun! It doesn't matter if you come with a partner or not, you are always dancing with someone and learning something new!

I had a private lesson with Hannah today. I highly recommend her. She was so warm and welcoming, and helped me feel comfortable with new movements and challenges. She is super fun and engaging. read more

I went to my first Zouk lesson at Inspired Movement on Monday. Paul was a great teacher and worked us through four beginner steps, with the intention of moving us up to the intermediate level as quickly as possible. There was a 30-minute group warmup, then an hour of lessons, then two hours of free social dancing afterward. The lessons were broken up into beginner, intermediate, and advanced groups. Head teacher Favian made a point of welcoming my friend and I, who were both beginners, and encouraging us to dance with more advanced dancers during the social hours. I knew a few people there from other dance scenes, and also danced with a few strangers. My go-to line with the advanced dancers was "I know how to do four things. Want to practice them with me?" The answer was always "yes" and I left feeling pretty confident with what I had learned. Favian also gave a pointed and sensitive talk about social dance ettiquette, showing that he was serious about Inspired Movement being a respectful place that people wanted to keep coming back to. read more

Love inspired movement!! The only place in Austin where I know I'll learn something new every week when I go. Friendly vibe, good people.

We rented this space for my son's 7 yr old bday party. It was a dance party w adult beverages served and this venue was perfect. We had about 70 guests and the party was a lot of fun. Kids and parents had a good time. The staff was friendly and Jasmin was very accommodating. They have dance floor lights and a nice sound system too. They even have tables and chairs if you need. Pricing was very reasonable. read more

Inspired movement is one of the best studios I've been too. They teach at a steady pace with a lot of material in each class. Brought my son to his first salsa dancing lessons. He's 14 yrs old. Hoping he catches the salsa bug

I attended the all-levels Bachata class as part of Sensual Tuesdays, as well as the social after group class! Everyone at the studio was very welcoming, and the teachers were so thorough and encouraging in teaching the choreography. I felt very comfortable attending as a single woman, and I appreciated that the instructors emphasized that you can execute all the sexy bachata moves while being respectful of your partner's body. I will definitely be returning! read more

I had the pleasure to experience firsthand Inspired Movement amazing workshops and performances during their visit in Arizona. I definitely recommend his lessons to anyone looking for either improving or refining their dance skills. Keep up the good work Inspired Movement. read more

I absolutely loved the salsa class at Inspired Movement! If you're new you can try to test out of the beginners class so that you're placed in the correct level. This makes it so perfect when trying to gage your experience and not feel like you can't keep up. After class they have a social hour which is great for practicing! I am loving it and will be sure to bring my friends by! read more

Great instruction - they keep it challenging but grounded in basics from which to build. Socials are such a great idea to combine with the classes. The community that comes here is serious about dance but with a healthy attitude that "it's just dance" - in other words we have a realistic perspective in that none of us are going out on auditions daily and have to get that next gig to put food on the table. Everyone keeps it fun and social. read more

I took the beginner salsa class here on Tues night and found the instructors to be very helpful and thorough. I am a beginner and it was a great experience. The instructors were very patient with me and separated everyone into groups based on their dance level. This was helpful for the introductory since we were a smaller group and could receive more individualized attention from the instructors. read more
