The instructor, Maureen Slabaugh, is certified by the Royal Academy of Dance to teach under their Silver Swans model and does an outstanding job of making the class work for both absolute beginners as well as dancers with some level of experience. When I arrived, I went to the front desk, made a purchase, and signed up for the next two classes. I specifically explained that I was brand new. At no point was I told that one of the classes I had just signed up for was an advanced class that a beginner would clearly not be prepared for. That alone would have been frustrating, but mistakes happen. What bothered me much more was the complete lack of effort from the coach. As a brand-new face walking into an advanced class, I would have expected the coach to at least introduce himself, ask about my experience level, or give me some idea of what was going on. None of that happened. Not before class, not during class, and not afterward. Instead, I spent the better part of an hour stumbling around trying to figure things out on my own before eventually sitting down. And I didn't sit down because I simply gave up. There was a woman trying to record what I assume was content for social media, and I didn't want my confusion in the background ruining her video. The whole experience left me feeling like I simply wasn't supposed to be there. Ironically, the one person who actually made me feel welcome was Sarah, who I'm not even sure works there. She approached me on her own, introduced herself, told me about the place, and helped me figure out where I needed to be. If it hadn't been for her kindness, I probably would have left without staying for the second class. Unfortunately, the same coach taught that class as well. Once again, there was no introduction or attempt to speak to me before, during, or after class. I don't expect special treatment because I'm new. I do expect basic customer service, especially after I've explicitly told the staff that it's my first time. A simple "Hey, I'm ___, have you done this before?" would have changed the entire experience. I came in interested enough to make a purchase with the intention of becoming a regular and signed up for two classes. I left feeling invisible. Based on that first experience, I don't expect I'll be returning.

Vlada is so knowledgeable about the human anatomy and the reformer. She makes modifications for injuries and is always patient and understanding when you can't quite get a move or your form is off. She NEVER makes you feel like a bother, in fact, when you apologise for making a mistake she says "I'm here to help you, you don't need to apologise." Also, I'm familiar with the adage "not everything has to be about race" but as a black woman (oftentimes the only black person) in predominantly white spaces, I'm usually feel othered or ignored but not here, ever. That is the main reason I will forever sing the highest for Vlada. I felt like I was seen as a human being first and foremost and my colour didn't affect how she saw me or treated me. I've gotten stronger and I've been able to apply the techniques I've learned in Pilates to my other workouts. It has sculpted my body and improved my form. Veronica ended up being one of the best pole instructors I've ever experienced. She was so fast to connect to me and my goals and understood instantly my ability and previous experience on the pole and in dance. She then was able to teach the techniques she laid out for me in a way she knew I needed to learn them, and installed the exact concepts and methods she knew I needed for were I wanted to go. Unlike many other experiences with classes and studios, this experience left me feeling like I just walked out with a super charged download of pole skills versus the usual feeling of wasted time and little progress I've felt with other trainings. The studio itself is set up so perfectly too. The whole design and layout of the dance room is really interesting bc it's so warm inviting and elegant yet intimate and professional at the same time. Every little detail of the whole studio is done to perfection. We didn't know anyone in town when we started taking here, and I feel so blessed that we stumbled into such a friendly place. 2. I love that the owner, Leigh, actually teaches classes. And she's phenomenal. Which I guess isn't surprising since she's been teaching dance since she was 16! Because she is a huge ball of energy and super fun, the girls love her, but she also is no push over. She keeps everyone in line. They learn a ton, even in the creative movement classes. But I was told it was okay to do so, and it absolutely was!! I have learned so much, dancing with my instructor, Dillon. He is patient, kind, funny, and a very good teacher. Dillon truly believes that every person can learn to dance, and he is there to find a way to teach you so that you can learn it well enough to take it out to a social dance floor. They have classes for different levels that will help you learn more social dances or better technique, depending on what you are looking for or what you are working on. I love each class for different reasons, and I appreciate all of the instructors (Hannah, Dillon, Damion, and Aleena) that work so hard to provide amazing classes every night. The atmosphere is light and fun. The students are supportive and not judgemental in any way. We love when new students come in and we welcome them all with open arms. We were told they were wanting to grow the business and that we didn't need to have prior ballroom experience (we came from other dance fields), and that a big part of the role was customer service and sales. Both of us interviewing were in contact throughout the process, and both of us were completely ghosted by the owner despite multiple emails. I understand if we weren't the best fit, but to not ever give us closure in the process was very disappointing and unprofessional. Ghosting people is hurtful.
