Not sure whats happening there...... I can't even count how many times we have been and it's always very good. And Very consistent!!! But this last time it was so "off" not sure what's going on with the famous house salad dressing but it was horrific!! Service was just OK... usually excellent. This has to be one of the worst excuses for an "Italian" restaurant. I have had much better meals at Olive Garden. This was our first, and obviously last visit. First, when we walked in, the greeting was, "may I help you?" I thought we may have been in the wrong place. We were seated, but took a while before a server came over to take our order. By this time, we had time to peruse the menu and decide. When we went in, the room was empty. By the time our server came, the room had filled. I asked if the sweet tea is sweet. I was told "not very sweet" strike one. Then was told only Pepsi products. Strike two. I knew it wasn't looking good at this point. I noticed they have a French item on the menu as well. Very odd selections. I settled on the Seafood Scampi. Bad choice. We were told the kitchen was "backed up." Hoped the toilets weren't. So, the bread will be out in a while. They should have kept it. It was very "doughy" and like chewing "Big League Chew." The food finally arrived, after a very, very long wait. The food was luke-warm at best. There was absolutely no seasoning, so was very bland. The menu stated, "our secret scampi sauce." Well, it was quite a secret, I couldn't see or taste it. Our security clearance wasn't high enough. The shrimp was over-cooked and like rubber. The mussels were salty, but at least had some seasoning. Our server was overwhelmed. She did not do a good job, but I still gave her a tip. The place is super noisy. They had music blaring, so everyone talking very loudly. I have been to Italy, and this place is as far from Italian as it gets. I did finally find the secret sauce. It was pooled in the bottom of the plate. Also, I never saw a manager the entire time. They need to step up and help the poor servers and talk to diners. The prices are high, for the low quality food. I read reviews that say, "best Italian food..." Evidently, they have never had good Italian food. read more

Our waitress lost our friends credit card and then said it wasn't in the packet when she picked it up along with 5 other packets from 5 other tables then came back and said it wasn't there when we all seen it there, then took our friends name and number to call him when they found it, well was over a week and my friend called about it and guess what they found the card but said they didn't have a number to notify him even after he had left the information, they need better employees that pay attention to their job , the quality of service has went down hill!! read more

My family loves Fratelli's! Everything on the menu is delicious. Except the breadsticks...which are DIVINE!

RECOMMENDED : As a local here are some tips: CALL AHEAD! GET RESERVATIONS! There is no secret to the fact this is an area hot spot. Their food is very good, the drinks are good, and the wait staff is average. I usually get spaghetti or chicken parmesan. Both are well-seasoned but a couple of times my guests found their meals to be over-salted or somewhat room-tempearture. Once again, I didn't have an issue. The price range varies. Some items come with a big price tag for the area, others do not. Overall I recommend this place. Meals are good, family is a great bunch. read more

We are a family with small children, so we haven't eaten in the restaurant- but will choose Fratelli for take-out anytime! They offer a selection of "family meals" online every day that always include salad and their AMAZING breadsticks. Not only do I think these family meals are generous for the price, but they taste phenomenal and homemade every time! My husband and I have decided that instead of ordering family meals from the chain restaurants in the area, we'll always choose to support Fratelli instead. The service was amazing! Kristian R was who waited on us. He was phenomenal from the time we entered to the time we left. The food was great as well. We had calamari as an appetizer, which is a must try. I got the crab stuffed salmon for my dinner and he was able to customize it for me and make it blackened. Tried to order filet mignon. Not available. Too expensive to stock. Ordered spaghetti and meatballs. Worst that I have ever had. Threw it away. Ordered french onion soup. No toast in it, cheese had to be cut with knife. Ordered creme brulee. Fantastic. No one finished their meal. Best comment: we tried them, now we know better. LOL) Have you ever heard the expression that pizza is "like s*x; even when it's bad it's pretty good." Well, on a scale from 1 to 10 where frozen pizza is like "meh, I scratched an itch" Fratelli's pizza is "toe-curler, woke the whole house, gotta change the sheets." It's just that f***ing good. Erm, to coin a phrase. The Cumberland/Frostburg area has a lot of good pizza, but Fratelli's has all but ruined the rest of the local pizza scene for me. If you're in the area phone ahead and have 'em make you one to go, because odds are there won't be a seat to dine in -- especially on Wednesdays when it's 2 for 1 night. This place is really, really good. I ate here while on a business trip in the area on a recommendation from one of the guys at the plant. Absolutely worth it. I had their specialty, penne with vodka sauce, and it was so tasty with bits of pancetta, just the right amount of cream, and made with fresh tomatoes. The food is really good here, but we have visited several times & the wait staff is poor. We won't be going back. One time we took a large party there & the waitress pointed out to us before we even ordered that there would be an 18% tip on our bills due to the group (only 10 of us) (we normally tip 20+ % , so if you're going to tell me what to tip regardless of the service, I will not tip 20%) But here's my problem with dictating my tip percentage. If she is guaranteed an 18% tip then why are our glasses empty of tea and soda, and we may want some ketchup and she's in the corner texting or talking to other staff. I came to Fratelli's the night before the Iron Girl Rocky Gap triathlon with a plan to carbo load on some good Italian pasta! I don't really have any specific complaints about this place it's just pretty generic and I would not really choose to eat here if I wasn't specifically looking to load up on bad for you food. We started with crab dip which was actually quite good. The bread with it was delicious, some kind of garlic bread. Then I had shrimp scampi. Which again was good but nothing of note. My biggest complaint is that the sauce looked a little congealed like it had been pre-cooked and then sitting under a heat lamp. Not the freshest food in the world, but again, good if you're looking for something bad. No complaints about the service. We had a very nice waitress who was attentive to us and got us in and out pretty fast which is always appreciated when you have a toddler! read more

This is one of our favorite places in Cumberland, MD. The food is reasonably priced and there is plenty of it. During the week you can just walk in but if you go on a weekend make sure to call ahead for a reservation. One thing I really like about Fratelli's is you can get a small or large portion of most of their pasta dishes. Since each entree comes with delicious homemade breadsticks (seriously they are amazing) and a salad, I always get a small portion and it is more then enough. The eggplant parmesan is really good. It's nothing fancy but it's fried to a golden brown, smothered in cheese, and topped with a great tomato sauce. My husband loves the large crab cake that has plenty of jumbo lump and not much filler. The wait staff here is mostly on top of things. The weekend waitstaff is attentive and on top of things. Occasionally on the weekdays we get someone who is slow or doesn't refill our drinks. All in all this is our favorite Italian dinner spot in the area and the price is right! read more

My favorite Italian place in Cumberland!! The pasta is excellent! We have eaten several different types of pasta here and all have been excellent. The white pizza is awesome! The bread they serve with your meal is warm and just wonderful and leaves you asking for more every time. You will not be disappointed if you add the meatballs to any pasta dish! They are great! The portion sizes are perfect! They are offer you two sizes to choose from so you can decide exactly how much you want to eat. Make sure you stop here if you are in the mood for good Italian. We had dinner here Monday night, and the place is obviously popular, because when we arrived at 7:00, the large lot was packed, and we had to wait for someone to pull out before we could park. I wish I could say that the food was good as the crowded lot would have you think, but -- Well, the garden salad was fresh, the calamari was crunchy, with a spicy dipping sauce, the house garlic bread was dense and chewy (that's a good thing), but -- Then we come to the main course. Both my wife and I ordered salmon, and mine was so dry and overcooked I stopped eating it a third of the way through, and made as if I was stuffed from the salad, bread and appetizer, because I didn't want my hosts to think I hated one of their favorite restaurants. In actuality, though, I'd have kept eating had the entree been decently prepared. My wife, who also ordered the salmon, felt the same way about hers. We took what remained of both entrees home (more than half of each, really), and while I wouldn't eat it, she was able to make a lunch out of it, but only after dousing it with mayonnaise to moisten. Had our entrees been better prepared, I might have raised the rating here to a 3-star rather than a 2-star. Because of its apparent popularity, and the fact my friends love it so much, I'd give it another try if they tried to get us there again ... though I definitely wouldn't order the fish for an entree. read more

Just skip it. Inexperienced and unfriendly waitstaff seemed bored and bothered, and made a complete joke out of the wine presentation. While the atmosphere was generally decent, the booth seating was so far away from the table that it made it awkward to try to balance yourself on the edge of the seat to try to eat. This restaurant tends to fill up fast, and the noise level is at a constant dull roar. Not a good fit if you'd actually like to talk to your dining companion. The food has gone very downhill from my first visit just over a year ago. The bruschetta trio that wowed us on our first visit has been reduced to some large, crudely chopped hunks of tomato thrown on some tired looking, dried out bread. When we made a complaint about my husband's entree (which was not edible), we were told there was no problem, as nobody else had complained. Save your time and money! read more

Overall fratelli's is a great local restaurant in LaVale. They offer reservations and have a nice inside waiting area. I have been to Fratelli's well over 20 times and I have never had a real issue to speak of. Service has always been constantly good, food has always been great! Fratelli's can go two ways with food, cheaper side being a large Pizza... The buffalo pizza is pretty amazing and can feed 4 adults with left overs... While the sandwich selection is very tasty and cheaply priced. Following up the lower priced selections are the dinners... My personal favorite is the crab stuffed salmon... It has a seafood sauce to dump over it that ups the flavor even more. If you don't go for the crab stuffed salmon... The chicken parm is also pretty amazing. The only reason I did not give this restaurant a 5 star is do to the noise level in the main dinning area on busy nights... It can become so loud on busy nights that it's hard to have a normal conversation... That can be mitigated by sitting in the area with the booths on busy evenings. But seriously... Get the crab stuffed salmon or the buffalo pizza... You can't go wrong! read more

Not from the area and first time at this local joint. Awesome food. I had the Seafood Diablo. You could tell the dish hadn't sat under the heat lamp for any time. Some of the hottest food (temp wise) that I've ever had at a restaurant. The seafood was cook well. Scallops could have been cooked just a bit shorter. The spice of the dish was great. I had the house salad as my salad choice. The feta cheese on top was perfect. The dressing was light but tasty. I don't even know what to say about the bread. It was AWESOME! I would eat it with every meal if I could. I was very impressed and would go back again, for sure! read more
