On the second night my friend was in town, we decided to go to the Encore to check it out as neither of us had been. We both spend a lot of time in Las Vegas so we wanted to see what Encore Boston had to offer. We were underwhelmed by the Encore as compared to Vegas but were pretty happy with Fratelli's. The restaurant is loud - very loud and if you have read my previous reviews, you know that is a huge turn off for me, but the food was good. We started with the meatballs which were excellent. I had the special seafood risotto, which was excellent, even if the calamari was overcooked and tough. My friend had the spaghetti and meatballs which he said was good as well. I am not sure we will ever be back...there is nothing negative here, but if you compare Fratelli's and Encore to what we can get by jumping on a plane and going to Vegas, there is no comparison. Special shout out to "Uncle Joe" who was celebrating his birthday at the table next to us with 10 of his closest family members. We had booked our reservation for 6pm on a Thursday. We got there on time and were seated promptly as far in to the end of the restaurant as possible. Right next to a large group of very loud very drunk people. Needless to say that is not why I am giving this 1 star although it was a definitely negative for our experience. The reason for 1 star: We ordered 3 different entrees and all were way over priced and not very tasty. For the price that you're paying, there should be an ounce of seasoning on any of the food. You're paying essentially double what you would at any decent Italian place that will serve you better plates. The service was good but nothing to write home about. The only notable thing on the menu were the different oysters that you could get. They tasted fresh and it was nice to experience the different flavors. This place seems to get worse each time. Well the service does. The food is pretty much the same. I've learned if you are single you probably should make a reservation online. Otherwise they tell you they can't sit you or to come back in 2 hours to there is a place at the bar. If you reserve online they can't really do that. Also, if you are a party of two, they may tel you they can sit you at 9:30. Unless you look like you are in a wedding party. There seems to be a lot of judging at the podium. Service sucks. I want to say my last female waiter was the worst, but most of the ones I've had aren't good. You will sit and wait for water and wait and wait. Or soda. But in observing other tables, if you are not yet done your alcohol they will ask you if you want another. And they don't have the timing down. At least not for me. My salad came before my bread. Both came before my soda. I started eating my salad and the waitress came to take my main course order. It was out in under 10 minutes. I was half done my salad. So it sat on my table getting cold. I hadn't even cut it when the waitress asked how it was when I moved it to be in front of me. I didn't want to give a tip because she was horrible. But I'm sure she tips out the runners and busboys. So I did. Most amazing people in the restaurant are the Bussers. They move from table to table cleaning and clearing and bring water if they notice it empty. They seem like nice blokes who stay busy. Bathrooms are outside the restaurant and there isn't much to look at inside the restaurant. You can see out the windows to some games or watch other tables or the staff moving about. That's it. 2 stars? Food is good enough and so many other places at encore are things I can't have. Service is a one star. read more

Off the bat, the service by each staff member who attended our table was very professional and courteous throughout our dining experience while celebrating our friends' birthdays, such as clearing out empty dishes as the food emptied into our stomachs and lighting the candles for the cakes and coming around the table without our friends noticing. You guys know how enamored I'm with espresso martinis so I had to order one and this time, it was only one. Even though it was a different spin with cocoa on the rim, the espresso element didn't really come through. Anytime we see grilled octopus, we don't think twice. The portion size of octopus was on the medium to lower side and the presentation wasn't too appealing; however, the tenderness and charcoal flavor shone though. The sautéed mushrooms and clams as well as the shrimp scampi were pretty standard, but I did enjoy the shrimp more. We ordered a few pasta dishes too. By far the best was the Positano, which we had to order a second round (you should too!). The al dente consistency of the pasta coupled with the fragrant and herbal oiliness (but not too oily) of the sauce coating each strand stood out. The Gragnano was a bit too cheesy but definitely enjoyed its decadence. And the Capri had a nice bite but wouldn't be a dish to re-order. Meat and fish dishes were also in order for the night. We were very curious about the truffle-crusted tuna but even though the tuna was very velvety (no need for teeth here), there was absolutely no truffle flavor, whether as an undertone or overtone. One of the waiters came out and displayed our 36 oz. tomahawk ribeye prior to cutting and we were delighted to sink our teeth into a slice. Cooked to a medium rare to rare, it melted with each chew but would've benefited with a dash more salt and pepper. The best meat dish was the braised beef short ribs and if you think you don't need teeth for the tuna, just place a slice in your mouth, lower your palate and slowly rotate against your tongue to allow the juices to coat and soak your tastebuds and the let meat perfectly disintegrate around. Talk about not needing teeth or gums! The atmosphere was contemporary and tempered but not as spacious as there were some tight corners. Would return here for a few dishes but would say it's a pretty solid spot if you're craving Italian in the Encore casino. read more

Fratelli is hands down one of our favorite restaurants -- not just in Encore, but in general. It has the cozy feel and delicious food of the North End with the perfect upscale touches to make you feel really special when dining there. Food, cocktails, and service are all exceptional. Bill the bartender and Natalia, server, are our absolute favorites. They are both attentive and very clearly care about their guests, remembering little details that make us feel right at home when we visit. If you are a veal fan, do not miss their veal cutlet Milanese! Other standouts are their homemade dressing on the Caesar salad, shrimp scampi and bruschetta appetizers, sea bass entree, and tiramisu. We had enjoyed our first visit last year, but not our second. The food was not quite warm when it reached our table and on the bland side. Paying inflated prices for subpar dishes and mediocre service hardly warrants another visit. But maybe the food wasn't hot because the air conditioning was so damn strong. Bring a sweater. I've never been to encore but I was in the area and decided to make a visit. I'm more of a foodie than a gambler so I searched for a restaurant. I stumbled upon this gem Fratelli. They have an early bird pre fixe meal that includes and app a pasta an entree and a dessert. If you're not looking to break the bank I HIGHLY suggest getting this. It's $50 Monday to Friday 4-6. This was my second visit so I knew exactly which pasta I wanted and skipped the pre fixe menu. I started with a standard caprese salad. Really good quality mozzarella cheese and heirloom tomatoes. I love love love spaghetti carbonara if I could be reincarnated I would want to come back as carbonara. This place makes top 2 in best carbonara I've ever had. They serve it in a pan and I guarantee you will not want to share it unless you get full and you have to. The sauce is light the pasta is perfectly Al dente and it has guanciale which is my preferred protein in carbonara. I couldn't ask for anything more in a dish. I had caramel gelato and a dark (no baileys) espresso martini for dessert. Fair warning though drinks are pricey. My cosmo and espresso martini were pushing $20/piece. Otherwise it's an amazing Italian restaurant to visit if you're in the area. read more

I had an experience that did not meet my expectations on May 5th. I was part of a group of three that was out celebrating a birthday. The appetizers were ok. Frito misto, calamari was over cooked zucchini flowers with way too much cheese, bruschetta flight. Dinner was not good. We split the porterhouse and had the kitchen slice it. It was ordered medium rare. It was served half rare and half well done. The worst part was the lobster fra diavolo. I dove in an attempt to separate the lobster meat from the shell. What a disaster. Sauce all over myself and gave up once I got the tail and a portion of the claw. We told the waiter and he explained "that's how we serve it" Totally unacceptable for a place that you would think has a high level of service and where people are spending some serious money on a meal. I agree with other reviewers that the restaurant just started up and with being brand new, there may be some issues. I ordered the gnocchi dish and the table had meatball and calamari appetizers. The meatballs were great and the calamari were not chewy but maybe had a little too much batter although not oily. The gnocchi were very soft and fluffy but the overall dish didn't wow me with flavors that I was hoping for in such a high end restaurant. Maybe thats part of the growing pains, not sure. I did really like the presentation of the food though. It came in a skillet for you to eat out of! Luckily a lot of the pasta plates are under $20 but most have no meat. It can get pricier quick once you go to the main entree plates with a steak costing about $50. For now, I feel there are many other high end restaurants in downtown that are established and easier to get to than having to go to the casino. read more

Service was terrible. Waiter checked on us maybe 2 times at most. The silverware was dirty with lipstick stains as well. My eggplant parm tasted like It was from the frozen section of the supermarket topped with supermarket sauce. Could have made It for under $10 at home. The price point was NOT WORTH I T.. How do people enjoy this place? I would only say come here if this is truly your last resort. The only thing good about It is the level of convenience. She is a truly a 5 star employee, not sure if I can say the same for others. My second visit last night started off wrong. From the time my friend and I, whom I might add is a known VIP at the casino, although no one should be treated the way we were. When we came in, we immediately felt like we were inconveniencing the bar when we were told we only had 90 minutes at the bar before they had to bring in new customers. Okay so they're already timing us less than 5 minutes from the time we sit down. We ordered a bottle of wine, and a half a dozen oysters to start. I was told the oysters are from Wellfleet, and they were okay, but some shell came off in my mouth. If it was a truly higher end establishment that wouldn't happen. We then ordered a 1942 shot, which is $42 for the record, and the Calamari & Fritto Misto: calamari, shrimp, scallops, fried onion strings, & citrus aioli. It was good but nothing too exciting. We were talking when we were introduced to a nice couple next to us. We were not breaking any social distancing rules, but looking to socialize while watching the game. Then management came in to tell us we were not allowed to socialize with people we did not come with. We were only allowed to speak to the people we came with. Our food was amazing only small issue I had was with the temperature of my pasta after being twirled in the cheese bowl it wasn't super hot but the flavor was there. I enjoyed that this dish was not only calamari but it also had shrimp and scallops too. This dish was lightly breaded to perfection. I ordered the Sorrento dish. Wow talk about a disappointment. I went to Encore to grab a bite, kings late-Boston late, Was originally headed to Nightshift bar (great food!) but kitchen was closed. Ended up at Fratelli, nice presentable upscale for a casino restaurant...at least they try to be. 1st - Drinks: Ordered an old fashioned off menu. Poison. Poison. Ok, I'm a big time Bourbon MORE THAN DRINKER...I LOVE IT AND RESPECT IT. My drink had no purpose. Just a waste of nice casual Jefferson Reserve. OMG, 2nd - Waiter: Stoic, non attentive and just should not be in the service industry. 3rd - Food: OMG, last because it was the worst 200 meal ever! Only a single entree ordered, two apps and three drinks. Not a single item was seasoned or had any taste. (Unless you count cheese on charcuterie board.) I ordered the Chilean Sea bass...first it was not properly cooked, so it was harder in the middle than the seared outer sides. Beyond whatever it was seared with the fish itself was bland. Seafood risotto calamari was over cooked in that as well. I ordered the ravioli and felt it was cooked to perfection. Usually we sit in the bar. The service is Amazing! There menu is small but I like that. To me that means they can perfect everything that comes out of their kitchen. To start we had the shrimp scampi which only came with 3 so that wasn't enough for the group of 4 luckily one of us didn't want any. For my meal I had the Chilean Sea Bass and Risotto (which i ordered as side but came as a small meal especially for the amount) but back to my Sea Bass- i loved the twist of sweet glaze they added on the top coat. The Drinks were creative on menu but I had a lemon drop martini which was good!. All the meals were not big portions but yet all very yummy. You can tell that every dish made from scratch however I think that due to their Casino location their prices are a little over the top. Overall great experience! I just got off the phone with the manager who did nothing to help me or make things better for his customers that actually come in there often . Maybe that's why bar was empty last night . Anyway I was totally upset that they charge 24.00 for a glass of moscato more than my husbands 19 dollar martini seemed Rude to me no price by the glass on menu .
