Oxtail are bad only bones rice n peas n cabbage doesn't 2/10

More meat on the bone less cabbage more gravy oxtail is dry first time I had franks I gave it 8/10 now this is a cool 2/10 waste my money and I was craving this they have to be changing chefs on different day

    10 bucks small ackee
    Tenesha S.

this is what they sell for 10 bucks....its a no for me. the ackee is poorly seasoned with chunks of black pepper or whatever that is too much. if you are desperate like I was I would say its edible bit please do not go here if the other local spots are open. Staff like most jamaican restaurants are slow act like they are doing volunteer work but ehh that's what I expected

    Salt-fish and fry dumplings
    Tasheena S.

I like this restaurant. This is the only place in the Bronx I will get Jamaican food when I'm too lazy to cook it. Whether its breakfast or dinner the food is delicious. My favorite thing on the menu is their oxtail. I also like the wings and mac & cheese on weekends. If I want breakfast, I always go with fried dumplings and salt fish (codfish). Hi5 to the chef!

Fried fish $3 and $4 option along with salt fish and 4 fry dumpling

The soup was good, but the codfish fritter is terrible. I'm sorry, but you have to work on that dish.

Pop music, pops of black on the walls, TV screens behind and above the bar- so that almost every seat has a good view, a noticeable bar and those wood-slab walls. You know the look. The last time hubs and I were in this space was about 10 yrs ago, when it was Sammy's, so walking into Urban H. and getting hit with their urban-industrial-sports bar feel caught me a little off guard. No offense. Since hubs and I are getting settled into our other home in Westchester, dining out has been our friend. The young ladies here did well. From the moment we walked in until we headed out, everyone was pleasant, welcoming and attentive. We started with the calamari which was tender. Like really tender. Not a rubber band in sight. But where were the tentacles?! Those crispy little tangled things are half the reason hubs and I order calamari and sadly, there wasn't even one. Hubs went with a canned hard lemonade. It was refreshing but it was missing at least a little oomph especially if it's called "hard lemonade". My salmon dinner was beautifully prepared on parsnip puree with sautéed broccoli rabe and a pomegranate sauce. I totally get my dish was going for that savory/sweet mix- but that pomegranate sauce kind of sent my dinner slightly off keel for me. Hubs, loved his pork chop though with sautéed spinach and...white rice.¯\(ツ)/¯. We ordered the "mango" sorbet but it tasted more like lemon and it you had blindfolded me and asked me to tell you the flavor, mango would not have made my first guess. Honestly- Urban H. has more swagger than quiet, screens and a pop playlist that wants you to know it's there. But the service was super pleasant.

We started with the Poke Nachos ($19), which were alright. I'm more of a beef nacho guy. For my main, I ordered the Grilled Chicken Sandwich ($18), which came with bacon and a side of sweet potato fries. The sandwich was solid, and the sweet potato fries were nice and crispy. Overall, I had a good experience. If I'm ever back in the area and looking for a place to catch a game, I'd stop by again. * 3.5 Stars * Street parking

I was deciding between the turkey salad and the Chicken Salad Ciabatta from the lunch specials and asked our server how the chicken salad was, She said it was her favorite and that it was a lot of people's go-to, so I decided to order that. Our food came out pretty quickly. We ordered the Heritage Nachos, Loaded Tater Tot Skillet, Philly Cheesesteak, and the Chicken Salad Ciabatta. The nachos weren't really for me (I didn't love the type of chips used), but the tots were good and my boyfriend liked his cheesesteak. I absolutely loved the chicken salad sandwich and fries. I get a little fixated on foods I like, so I had honestly been craving that sandwich ever since. 3/14 SECOND VISIT: I decided to come back on March 14 specifically hoping to order the chicken salad sandwich again. It was much busier due to St. Patrick's weekend,I was alone, I was seated in a booth in the back. I was given the dinner menu, so I asked the server about the chicken salad sandwich I had previously ordered. She didn't recognize the sandwich but offered to ask the kitchen after I showed her a photo and the menu from my previous visit. Unfortunately she came back and said they couldn't make it. She suggested a grilled chicken sandwich, but I declined since I'm not really a fan of grilled chicken. I ended up ordering the turkey sandwich and asked for a few modifications (no stuffing or cranberry mayo, just regular mayo on a ciabatta). When the food came out, I immediately knew it wasn't turkey. I waited until the server came back and asked her to confirm what meat was on the sandwich. She initially told me it was turkey. After taking it apart & having a few bites I knew it wasn't turkey. I winded up eating the fries and asking for the bill. I decided to show her the inside of the sandwich again and asked her to double check with the kitchen, she returned and confirmed it was actually ham, even though the ticket showed that she ordered turkey. She did offer to remake the sandwich, but it would have taken another 10-15 minutes and at that point I was already over it. I ended up just paying, and leaving. I completely understand that menus change and servers can't memorize every item. I just wish the sandwich had been confirmed with the kitchen sooner when I questioned it the first time. Overall, my first visit was great, and that chicken salad sandwich was honestly amazing. I just wish the second visit had gone a little smoother.

I started with the tamarind margarita. The tamarind flavor was a bit subtle and the drink was on the sweeter side, but it was pretty good. It was a great portion size, with two large pieces of toast. However, the flavor was a bit bland. My husband was happy with the chorizo omelette, which was also quite large. On a beautiful afternoon, we decided to grab a table on the patio, and it was the perfect choice. The outdoor seating created a relaxed, inviting atmosphere that made it easy to settle in and enjoy brunch. The restaurant itself has a modern, stylish aesthetic that feels elevated without being pretentious. From the moment we sat down, the service was exceptional. Our server was attentive, welcoming, and struck that perfect balance of checking in without ever making us feel rushed. Now, let's talk about the food. The Tres Leches French Toast completely exceeded my expectations. I've had plenty of French toast over the years, but this one stood out. It was incredibly soft and fluffy with beautifully crisp edges, creating that perfect contrast in texture. The tres leches flavor was rich enough that it genuinely didn't need syrup--a rare compliment for French toast. Every bite was indulgent without feeling overly sweet. Paired with the perfectly cooked apple-smoked bacon and a bowl of fresh fruit, it was one of the better brunch plates I've had in quite some time. I also ordered the strawberry mimosa, which was bright, refreshing, and not overly sweet. It was the perfect companion to brunch. We couldn't leave without trying the Chicken Burrata Sandwich, and I'm so glad we did. The burrata was fresh and creamy, the chicken was juicy, and the spicy sauce added just enough heat to keep every bite interesting without overpowering the sandwich. Then there was the bun--soft, fresh, and sturdy enough to hold everything together. It tied the entire sandwich together beautifully. The fries deserve their own mention. Golden brown, perfectly seasoned, crispy on the outside, and fluffy on the inside--exactly how fries should be. Between the beautiful setting, genuinely attentive service, and food that delivered across the board, 179 Bar & Grill earned every one of these five stars. It's the kind of place that's just as good for a casual brunch as it would be for bringing friends or celebrating a special occasion. I'll absolutely be back--and next time, I'm already planning to explore more of the menu.

Aesthetically, each table feels like a meal at a family dinner table; it's clear that they wanted that vibe to be translated, and it's done quite well. This is also supported by the service being very friendly and helpful in general. To eat, I had the French toast burger with sweet potato fries. Some others with me had various sides like regular fries and tater tots, and the same thing was present on them that tends not to be at most places: they were all perfectly salted/seasoned. It might seem immaterial, but it's a very good signal when something that simple--yet often neglected in favor of just using condiments to mask it--is executed well. If you're a burger place with fries that taste great without the need for a sauce or condiment, you're doing something right. The French toast burger was likewise fantastic, combining sweet and savory in a great way. To drink, we all got a communal pitcher of the only frozie they had available at the time: a kind of jungle juice vodka slushie. It, too, was great--worthy of multiple rounds. All in all, here's a place that I can't wait to give another visit.

We've ordered a few times and aside from one bumpy experience we've been very happy with STG. The Brisket stands up to delivery and doesn't dry out, the pulled pork / ribs / pork belly are all winners, and the Chicken and the Chicken wings hold their own against the traditional stars of barbecue.
