"Mangu and cheese"

Purchased breakfast & lunch (one order) by mistake from here due to several restaurants having lechonera as their name. Worst luck ever. The mangu was dry, big plantain chunks and tasteless. Fried cheese was very thin slice making it hard texture also taste like spoiled cheese.also got roast pork. To start it stinks like pork really nauseating. Hard big chunks cut into pieces. Worst mistake I've made and super disappointed. This place needs to be shut down.

Porkchops

Honestly felt very half and half about this spot, and to be honest, in the Bronx especially, you can get much better hispanic food and service. What kept them from at least a 3 is how long we ended up waiting for food. I don't mind waiting for food, you can recover if its delicious, but here they try to disguise mistakes and flavors when you can't. To start, the appetizers, alcapurrias were too dry. Mayoketchu was saving the day on these, but not enough so. Tried to wash it down with coffee, but it tasted like water. My porkchops were dry, but I give them compliments on the way the beans were prepared. The carne guisada was almost as if it was prepared by a whole different kitchen considering it was moist, flavorful, and overall delicious. The best dish easily was the asopao de camarones. While I felt the broth could have been more shrimpy vs using the chicken broth used, it was still amazing. If they made everything like they made this, it would be a better establishment overall. Thank you.

I'm so upset; I get charged for a large pan of white rice i called for order pick, come to find out in my bag it's a small container, I was so upset I'm coming a 45 minute plus drive from work to home to pick up food and they can't even get a order right! Absolutely ridiculous and I got charge what I didn't get, absolutely ridiculous, when you guys pick up the phone YOU NEED TO HEAR PEOPLES ORDER CLEARLY and not give them the wrong thing

side order of the pernil

Great little spot for when you are craving authentic spanish food. We go to our usual little spots but decided to try this place on late New Year's day night. We had gotten the boneless chicken chunk combo with a side order of the pernil. The chicken chunks were good but the portion was a tad smaller and the chunks where more of.. well small chunks which did not contain much white meat. However, the white rice was really well made but we couldn't opt for Yellow rice as the beans are made into the rice. I don't mind the beans but some people like my bf is not a huge of it. We also got an order of the tostones -- these were made with love and it showed. The crispiness of these and they were far from dry. You can basically eat these alone without the mijito sauce. The pernil was just average. Not sure if it was because we came late but the meat was a bit on the dry side. The combo also came with a medium bottle soda and a salad. I thought the salad was alright as there are random veggies i didn't expect in there like the green beans lol. I would def come back and try other options here though!

I tried calling the one on Crescent Ave but got no answer after having the phone ring for a while. But I decided to go with this location because Crescent said 9 p.m., and this one said 10 p.m. The location is on a busy street. We did get Lyft, so that wasn't an issue for us. But you might have to walk a bit if there's no parking. It's spacious outside when you first enter, and there are two sides to be seated. We were seated right away and given menus. The decor is cute, and the wall artwork is colorful and lovely. Great music was playing late at night. We did arrive after 8:30, more like 8:45ish. They were out of something we wanted to order, but the server, I think, his green apron, said Juan. I'm not sure if he said his name at the time. As I said, we were hungry, which was the main focus, not to mention arriving before they closed. The appetizers were delicious. I suggest getting two if you have a big group because three pieces on a plate are insufficient for four people. The food came out promptly, everything was delicious, and we enjoyed every bite. I hope to return and get the name of what we ordered. I'll use that as an excuse to return because everything looked good on the menu. I know we got Chicharron, flan, and tres leche, but the names of the dishes Yes, I could look at the menu, which I took a picture of, but I would prefer to go back

The crispy octopus easily rivals anything I've had in Manhattan, super tender with just the right crisp. The cassava hash browns were so good I was almost annoyed by how simple they were. Paired with a rich, meaty sauce and a fresh fennel crunch, the whole dish was incredibly balanced. The wings were the most straightforward item on the menu (in the best way), lightly spiced, slightly sweet, and great for picky eaters. Someone needs to give the bartenders a raise. I ordered three drinks just to test consistency--every single one was balanced, spirit-forward, and not overly sweet. The presentation was different on each one and felt intentional without being gimmicky. I've seen some of the lower Yelp ratings and they mostly call out price, but this is very much a you get what you pay for situation. The quality of the food, the portion sizes (especially for this level of execution), and the overall intentionality behind the menu justify it in my opinion. Service was excellent. They squeezed me in last minute, and my waiter, Dionicio, handled my coconut allergy (not easy at a Dominican spot) with real care and ease. The space itself is worth mentioning - moody, mushroom/mossy interiors. Super cute, very well thought out, and definitely a place I'll be coming back to.
