I've been a loyal customer of this restaurant for over 10 years and I'd always have a great experiences until my last visit this week. The first thing I noticed, the menu looked different, as did the staff. The offerings and prices had changed so much, i didnt know what to order, so i got everything a la carte. One whole chicken with white rice and red beans. The guys were checking the chickens, and I was immediately told the wait was about 10 minutes. In the meantime they were checking the chickens on the spit and found a very tiny dry one that they didn't know what to do with. They cast it off to the side as if it would become a soup, discussing what to do with it. I went across the street to grab a slice, as this chicken would be my dinner for a few days. I come back 10 minutes later my order is packed, sans the rice and beans. I requested to purchase the bottle of the mojito sauce that I usually get, but The lady at the counter didn't even know about the bottles. Opting for the 2 for $1 mini ramekins, I went ahead and paid for my food and drove back to Brooklyn. Imagine my surprise when I got home and opened my container of chicken to find the little dried up paltry one if they didn't know what to do with. I was livid. I suppose they thought to cast it off on the person most excited to be there, assuming I do not speak or understand my own second language (their eyes bulged when I spoke to another customer as I left). The rice was under cooked and didn't have that flavor this place is known for, as were the beans. $25 for what???? Wherever thge original owners and staff went, I hope they come help this crew out with quality control, or they will likely lose more customers. I refuse to drive all the way from Brooklyn for this type disrespect. read more

Called for last minute catering orders and spoke to Jaime. He was very knowledgeable with the menu and helped me select the best items within my budget. He also followed through after delivery to assure we were all happy. Delivery was on time and very courteous! I recommend you try the roast chicken - the sauce on the side is PHENOMENAL AKA ADDICTIVE, LOL! their steak and peppers, and the pernil (both so tasty and very juicy). and those Rice and BEANS, GOOD HEAVENS! I honestly didn't want to give a bad review but the truth is the truth this restaurant is not the same no more I recently order a Roasted chicken combo and sadly was very disappointed. 1st the smell didn't smell like hurry up eat me that was the 1st thing I notice and it taste like it smelled. The chicken tasted very foul and dirty like it was not clean and rinsed that turned me off and the yellow rice kinda had a dirty smell and taste and it was hard like if you was eating fried rice the beans had no love no flavor the food basically taste like it was made with no love very bland and under cooked I hope they get a new chef and I hope they clean there chicken because you can smell the aroma that it's not properly cleaned and prepared correctly and not make there rice so hard read more

I thought I would never have anything bad to say about this restaurant. I went there today and I ordered steak and onions and that was the worst steak I've ever eaten. The steak was covered in I guess gravy (brown water). Who the hell want their steak drowned in brown water. I use to eat steak and onions at this restaurant all the time when I worked in the area 18 years ago and it was the best steak and onions I ever eaten and it didn't have gravy on it. I don't know who's cooking the steak dish now but they need to be given another assignment. This restaurant do have good food and their rotisserie chicken is the best. I don't know what happened with this steak dish but they need to fix this. If you want to to put gravy on the steak put it on the side and not drown the steak in it. When I order a grill steak no gravy for me on the steak. If you are going to drown the steak in gravy then call it steak and gravy not steak and onions. The steak didn't have seasoning on it and it wasn't the freshest of meat it tasted like it was going bad and they still sold it. I am giving them a rating of three even though they deserve a rating of five but this steak dish brought their rating down but the rest of their food is delicious. Warning this is not real Mexican Food. It is old dried out dominican food serviced by non-english speaking people. I ate a variety of their dishes ranging from the rice, plantains, chicken, and other plates with a friend. The food wasn't horrible, just not very good. I am Puerto Rican and I'm very turned off on their interpretation of PR food. The food also looked expired and left me feeling sick. I don't recommend this place. read more

I had been smuggling Nutella through the Sumatra Straits when my good friend and first mate, Gillihad, suggested we head for Puerto Rico. Perhaps I was feeling saucy that day, perhaps a butterfly in another hemisphere moved in such a way so as to impact my central nervous system; whatever the reason, I decided to chart a different course and leave behind my highly lucrative existence as a cocoa-hazelnut spread smuggler in exchange for different adventures. A week later we were in Puerto Rico. I fell in love with many things -- the blue water, the hospitality of the natives, the women -- but of all the things I grew to love, none matched mofongo. Mofongo is a dish of fried plantains which have been smashed with various accouterments, such as garlic or crispy pork. It is a starchy, savory miracle of a dish, Latin American soul food of the highest order. New York has many mofongo parlors. Recently, I sampled the mofongo of Delicioso Restaurant, in the Mott Haven section of the Bronx. Thick and flavorful, with a rich, beefy sauce which I generously poured on top, the Mofongo reminded me of the version made for me by one of my many Puerto Rican lovers, Esmerelda. Esmerelda died in a coconut accident, but her style of Mofongo lives on at Delicioso. read more

Their best is The Roast Chicken, abit steep at $7.00 but with their garlic sauce it's awesome. Their other dishes leave little to be desired. Seem to be sitting around too long. Their staff needs classes in customer service. Would not recommend eating in. No AC, and flies. Take the chicken and run. read more

Wow I really didn't expect the roast chicken to be so good. My wife and I ordered and shared chicken white rice and black beans. The garlic sauce that comes with the chicken really put it over the top. I will definitely be coming back. I would've taken a picture but I devoured it lol... next time I guess. read more

I ordered 4 empanadas here, however, it was early so the cook gave me a hard time with my order (bad attitude), and said that since there is no preprepared food, my order will take a lot of time to make, so I waited outside the restaurant. The empanadas were very small, like about the size of a child's hand, and the chicken inside the empanadas was not boneless. The chicken had a very soggy texture, and had a seafood smell to it. I paid $1.25 per empanada, but all four empanadas were inedible. I wish I would have saved them, and sent them to get tested for saliva because I truly believe there was more in the empanadas then what was meant to be eaten. Disgusted. So far, I am not willing to return to this place even if I were starving. read more

Cheap, and very tasty food. Really a nice selection - though I wish it were a bit healthier. It was certainly delicious. Nice plantains.

I always avoid the other similar restaurants in the area bc I get better service here, they are friendly and the food is yummy.

They have the best roasted chicken in town hands down!! The Mexican food sucks, but their breakfast is good especially the Mangu!!! Everything from this place is really good. The shakes are good like the mango one, and I dont even like mango! read more

I ordered take out from this restaurant for the family, based on the recommendations of the front desk of the hotel despite the fact the restaurant is a tiny litte take out place. I ordered the #6 ( Whole Chicken, 2 pork chops, saffron rice (large and it is ample) with refried beans, red beans in sauce (for the rice), and plantains. What a surprise! The chicken was tender and flavorful, the spicy and tangy sauce was a fantastic and addictive addition. The Pork chops were delicious, though a small section of one was not tender but the rest was tasty and a delight to eat. The rice was perfect with the beans, was a family favorite. My wife, who ususual hates beans of any kind had triple helpings of the rice with the beans, my two kids (3 and 7) ate everything with gusto. The plantains were okay, had better, but were still acceptable. A 2 liter bottle of soda was included in the order (Pepsi) for $23.75. For NYC this was a bargin for a family meal. The Chicken is definitely worthy of the title "Best grilled Chicken in the Bronx." Yummy! read more

OK, so, ummm, how's the breakfast? PS coupla things. Why warn that it's not Mexican food, who said it was? Obviously it's Dominican or similar.
