Tried Frank's recently -- the pizza itself was really good, definitely the highlight. That said, the service was a bit slow, and it kind of took away from the experience. Frank's Pizzeria.....as old school as it gets in the best possible way. From their awesome sign to their dining room to their pizza. My second time here. Dining room is "cozy" and was decked out with holiday decorations. Our out of town visitor wanted to experience Chicago pizza (which is thin crust to me) and this was where we went. Frank's has been in business since 1952. Sadly, Independent establishments like this are disappearing and becoming scarcer nowadays. We ordered 2 pizzas. A Frank's special and a sausage + giardiniera. Both were outstanding. The balance of ingredients was spot on which to me is the number one thing with pizza. No ingredient dominated over the other . They complimented each other. This is solid pizza and has made my top 5 favorites list. It is on the pricier side but then you get what you pay for. I love everything about this place. Checkered table cloths, low lighting and 50's crooners set the mood to indulge in a cracker crispy thin crust with the just right ratio of sauce to topping to cheese.. Serving both Pepsi and Coke or byob with a $5 corkage fee. This Mom and Pop pizzeria makes their own dough, sauce and cannolis for the win. Friendly, un-rushed service. If you order from uber eats or one of the other 3rd party services, and your pizza arrives cold, just know Franks really tried to get your driver to bring their insulated delivery bags inside to keep your pie pipping hot. First time trying Franks Pizza I heard about it from a co-worker who said the place has been around for awhile, so ofcourse I had to check them out. We tried the extra crispy super thin style pizza so delicious, similar to my hometown pizza(stl). The service was quick and the server was up on it the whole time. I ordered the garlic bread, calamari, and an xl pepperoni pizza. The bread of the garlic bread was stale (you can tell by the texture), and it did not taste of garlic at all! It may have been lightly toasted with margarine because it didn't quite taste like butter, either. The calamari had burnt pieces. The pizza was ok. None of the food was hot when I picked it up. Frank's didn't disappoint, went there for dinner tonight and really enjoyed the place. all the staff was very helpful and courteous. Let us know that their sausage and sauce was homemade. we ordered fried calamari and cauliflower which was OK but the star of the show was the Frank's super seven the crust was super crispy true tavern style pizza. Franks on Belmont is super old school you could see the beautiful marquee Frank sign driving up Belmont. I love Frank's. It's old school. The people that work in there are old school. Don't expect fast service but you will receive great service. Been to Franks a few times now. First time I got just thin crust cheese pizza and it was on point phenomenal from how hot it is when it comes out to the table from taste of the thin crust dough, and there sauce, is amazingly flavorful their second time I went there. I got a sausage pizza. They make their sausage in house amazingly seasoned Chicago style sausage highly recommend. Frank's is a must visit for lovers of classic, thin crust Chicago pizza. Its practically a Chicago institution, from its vintage neon sign out front to its kitschy, mirror laden interior. The interior needs those mirrors, because it is super tiny, maybe 1600 square feet. Rows of narrow booths flank each side of the room and frame two tables, each with seats for six, in the middle. And that's it. So call for reservations for the weekend. Getting a table is easier earlier in the week, when the majority of the business is take out. Stopping in to eat is something you should do if you can, just to absorb the decor, the friendly service, and the exceedingly affordable $5 per table corkage fee to offset your bottle of wine or 6 or 12 pack of beer. And, of course, the hot off the presses pizza. I recommend getting it well done. Its cheesy as hell, the sausage is particularly juicy and flavorful, and the sauce is earthy and full of seasoning. Its a hit, one of my favorite pizzas in Chicago. The cheesy garlic bread with marinara sauce is also superb, as is their house made cannoli. read more

Pizza is delicious classic tavern style and the ambiance took me back to the 90s and made me very nostalgic. This was my childhood pizza place. Always fantastic. My parents wanted to revisit so we ordered a pickup as i live lil farther away now. When I called the person that answered had a language barrier to the point that someone else had to chime in saying that it was a training thing. But the 2nd person struggled to understand my orderas well. Which was 2 pizzas and 1 app! $85 for 1 14" and 1 16" and 1 app. They made the wrong pizza well done and the sausage which they are known for was skimpy asF! Been ordering pizza take out from Franks for more than 30 years, but our pizza group got together there last week for sit-down. Great pizza as always (we got deep dish for a change) and enjoyed the ambiance and service as well as the pizza. I told the manager that we're no strangers to their food, but they encouraged us to come over and eat in more often. She also said that all their sauces and sausage was made in-house. This could very well be the best pizza in town! And we love that it's been around the 1950's. And it's BYOB!

Good evening my Foodzies, tonight we ventured into Chicago to Frank's Pizzeria at 6506 w Belmont Ave., this is quaint little restaurant complete with fake olive trellis' over the booths, Christmas lights and cork walls which were adorned with Sinatra and Elvis pictures as well as location shots from Italy; and in the background the music of all your favorite crooners from Sinatra to Louie Prima. Barbara our server was very polite, friendly and welcoming. She told us that the original owner Frankie, started the restaurant and when he passed his nephew, Dennis purchased it from his aunt and still runs the place. This restaurant could easily be a backdrop for anyone of your famous mob movies. We were recommended this restaurant by a longtime friend of mine and Jimmy whom I've known since I was seven years old. I always trust his opinion. He suggested the pan pizza. Barbara explained to us that the sausage is made there at the restaurant. I have to tell you it was very good. Their soda is sold by the can ( sorry no free refills). We ordered the large thin crust, cheese and sausage as well as a 12 inch pan, cheese and sausage to go; due to the fact that it takes an hour to make. we also tried the fried cheese raviolis for my taste. They were a little too overdone with minimal amount of filling. The marinara sauce was very good. The table a caddie on it with Romano cheese, red flake pepper and oregano wich is a sign of an old school pizzeria. The thin crust had a nice blend of cheese of course the sausage that we enjoyed. The middle was a little too thin couldn't pick it up. Had to use a fork and knife. The edges were nice and crispy all in all had a good flavor. When we arrived home with the pan pizza first thing I noticed was that it had heavy crust, almost cardboard, like; not a lot of flavor. The cheese was a kind of cheese that I enjoy kind of chewy, but had a good texture. We ended our meal with a homemade cannoli, almost like mama used to make. Also be aware that if you decide to bring your own bottle, there is a five dollar uncorking fee. I give this restaurant 3 1/2 stars mostly for nostalgia purposes, for its old school Italian pizzeria ambience. As always, give it a try see what you think and let me know. Warning Barbara says if you're going to dine in good idea to make reservations because Friday, Saturday and Sunday, they are out the door. Mostly because they have limited seating. Also, if you are going to have a stuffed or pan pizza make your reservations and place the order an hour before you get there so that your food is ready when you arrive. I recently dined here for the first time and had a decidedly bad experience. I'm extremely disappointed with how Frank's conducts business. I firmly object to their imprudent toppings policy. When ordering a pizza with both sausage and pepperoni, I fully expect to be charged for two toppings, but I ordered a pizza with with half pepperoni and half sausage. I was perplexed when I received the check charging me for two toppings. I know of no other pizzeria that charges their customers a two ingredient price for a single layer of meat topping (half pepperoni and half sausage). What feeble reason (excuse) can the owner of Frank's propose for such an inexplicable toppings ingredient pricing policy, one not practiced by other pizzerias? It is reasonable to assume that first-time customers who experience such deliberate gouging will be discouraged from becoming repeat customers and I count myself among them! There is yet another business policy that is incomprehensible with which I take issue. Why does Frank's website fail to note that their pizzeria is a BYOB establishment with a corkage fee, one that appears to violate Chicago liquor law? Here is an excerpt from the Ankin Law Office Chicago Injury Lawyer Blog Post regarding a BYOB restaurants charging a corkage fee... Restaurants cannot legally charge a fee for the allowing alcohol consumption on their property if they allow you to bring your own without having a liquor license. This includes corkage or glass fees. They can only charge this fee if they have a liquor license and have chosen not to serve liquor themselves or allow patrons to bring them own. If a restaurant has a BYOB policy, their employees cannot legally store, serve, pour, or otherwise handle your beer or wine. Patrons must handle it themselves. I emailed the proprietor in these regards and did not receive the courtesy of a reply and that speaks volumes. Disgruntled and disillusioned, I will never again dine at Frank's. There is better pizza to be had at other pizzerias in Chicago whose owners do not intentionally rip-off their customers! read more
