We placed an online order from Frank's in Ross. It was our first time trying it out. When I arrived 40 min after placing the order to pick it up, the order had not been made. The man behind the counter was extremely polite and apologetic and said that their system had gone down briefly, but to give him 20 minutes and he would have the order ready to go. 20 minutes later on the dot, he presented me with my order and a receipt showing me that he had refunded me for the entire order. He tried to give me a 25$ gift card in addition but I told him no as I felt that he had already compensated me enough for the inconvenience. He was very nice and handled the issue with grace, and I was really impressed. The food was great. We liked everything. Fried zucchini was crispy and delicious. The marinara sauce was very good. The breadsticks delicious. The buffalo chicken sandwich, the buffalo chicken roll and the buffalo chicken pizza - all very good. Great crust on the pizza. We ordered for take out and delivery by Uber eats. We got a cheese pizza and chicken tenders with parmesan garlic sauce. The pizza was good. We liked the sauce flavor as it was balanced. We liked the cheese blend topping. I appreciate it was placed on wax paper lined pizza box. Not all shops do that but they should. The chicken was really good too. Frank's is a local pizza chain with a few locations around the 'Burgh. They are family owned according to their website. Frank's is best known for their chicken, and so I wanted to try an item that featured it. Their Buffalo chicken pizza is pretty famous, so I tried the "great white Buffalo" pizza. For a place that is very well known for this type of pizza, I wasn't particularly impressed. It wasn't bad, but nothing really stood out as spectacular. I will say that the deal was pretty reasonable for a somewhat large-sized personal pie (10", but it felt like it was more). The ranch was quite tasty, and they do give it to you for free with any order to my knowledge. They say its homemade as well. The crust for the pizza was somewhat standard, a bit greasy, not bad. Thicker crust than I'd like. The Buffalo sauce had a good amount of kick to it, but nothing too exciting. The chicken was breaded and on the oily side. All in all, the pizza was nothing special. Tonight was my first time ordering food from Frank's restaurant. Their menu lists pizzas, chicken, pizza rolls, calzones, breadsticks, salads, hoagies, fries, several appetizers such as breaded mushrooms, and some beverages. On a Sunday at 6:10 PM, I placed my order through the Frank's website, and the website said that the food would be ready for pickup at 6:45 PM. For some reason, the website never sent me an email, even after I clicked on a button to request an email. I sent my husband to pick up the food, and he texted me that the restaurant was "really backed up" and busy with other customers, so the employees needed more time to cook the food. Our food was ready around 7:10 PM. I think that one hour is still a reasonable wait time. At first glance, my husband thought that the food had a just-OK appearance, and he commented that he did not expect to order from here again. However, after we ate the food and actually tasted it, then we thought that the food was decent. Here are my reviews for the foods: Jalapeño poppers - 4 stars - My husband thought that the jalapeño was too spicy, but I thought that it tasted just right. The breading could have been baked a little more, but it was still crispy. Frankie bites - 4 stars - These boneless wings were juicy and had a crispy breading. I had selected a side of BBQ sauce, but I did not use it, because the chicken was flavorful by itself. Chicken wings - 4 stars - These wings also had juicy meat and a crispy breading. I had selected a garlic flavor, which was subtle but good. Broasted chicken - 4 stars - This chicken was lightly breaded and then deep-fried under pressure. The meat was juicy, and the flavor was mild. My husband ate leftover broasted chicken the next day, and he said, "Actually, I really like this chicken!" Italian hoagie - 4 stars - The bread was baked to be perfectly crispy. I enjoyed the taste of the ingredients of ham, salami, capicola, provolone cheese, onions, and lettuce. Ham and cheese hoagie - 3.5 stars - This hoagie also had a perfectly crispy bread. Consistently my favorite chicken in the city. The Broasted method is done to perfection here. Always super crispy breading. Not at all greasy somehow. Stays super juicy. Not usually a white meat fried chicken fan but it holds the juice awesomely here every time. Pizza has always just been overall solid. After hearing good things about this place we decided to give it a try. Ordered delivery on a Thursday. Was given an hour delivery time and it was delivered promptly within that time-frame. Order included: Famous Frankie Fries - these were ok, nothing out of this world 4 Cut Square Pizza (just cheese on top) - Loved the sauce! However not a lot on the pizza. Crust was light and airy. We prefer a more dense Sicilian pizza. But it was good! Saved the best for last! 12 piece chicken - this chicken was delicious!!! I can't wait to order it again. We ate all 12 pieces. Franks Pizza and Chicken is a resturant that a co-worker of mine introduced me too. Its one of those hidden gems no doubt. Best Buffalo Chicken Pizza I have ever had. If you don't live close its worth the drive. The ranch that accompanies the pizza is amazing. The resturant carries pizza, salads, calazones, and plenty of chicken varities.. such as roasted chicken, tenders, bites etc. The appetizer selections: mac and cheese bites, potato pancake bites etc. There are several locations.. Franks has without a doubt the best buffalo chicken pizza I have ever had. I am a huge Buffalo chicken fan, and some places fall short when they try to put it onto a pizza. But Franks has it down perfect. The crust is flavorful, but not overpowering. The Buffalo sauce is a perfect degree of heat and taste. The cheese compliments the other flavors. Unreal... we ordered food from franks and was told it would be delivered within the hour. It took over and hour and a half to get here. They said they got slammed right after we called. I love a good Buffalo Chicken Pizza and Frank's is one of the best! In fact, probably my favorite so far in Pittsburgh. I had driven past Frank's several times and was always curious about it so one Friday night I decided to call in a delivery order. I went with the large Buffalo Chicken Pizza which also came with three of their homemade ranches for dipping. With delivery and everything it was right around $20. The Pizza itself was a decent size and arrived quickly and hot. I tried a piece on its own first and it had great flavor but was a little on the dry side. That wasn't a problem though because of the amazing ranch dipping sauce! This stuff is great! I'd buy it on its own just to have for chips or vegetables. Next time I order I'll have to ask if they sell it separately. My guess would be yes otherwise they are missing a cash cow! I can't speak for their other pizzas or chicken but if this is any indication, I'm sure it would be great. I typically don't order specialty pizzas, but decided to try their buffalo chicken pizza and "broasted" wings. The pizza was fantastic, the right amount of cheese, a crisp dough, and plump pieces of buffalo chicken. It's a little dry which is OK as dipping in their homemade ranch is a must. The broasted chicken is interesting as it's supposedly a healthier option. Wonderfully juicy meat with a crisp breading. Could use a little more spice or seasoning but it stands alone pretty well. Had a lunch delivered for less than $10, which is also great considering they don't charge a delivery fee and had the food to me in about 30 minutes. Will definitely order from them again. read more

Game night with some friends and we were hungry for some pizza and chicken. Lo and behold, my friend happens to have a menu in her menu drawer that is from a place that has both pizza AND chicken in its name....sold! Right on the front of their menu, they claim that they are famous for their "broasted" chicken and their buffalo chicken pizza, so naturally we all decided we wanted to try that. My friend who picked up the goods said that the chicken smelled so delicious that he seriously considered just pulling off to the side of the road and eating it all himself, but luckily, our food made it back to our game night unharmed. So I don't exactly know what "broasting" is, but I'd like to eat all of my food in broasted form from now on. The chicken was AMAZING. Super juicy, crispy, well-seasoned...everything a good piece of chicken should be. I can definitely see why Franks is famous for their chicken. Now the buffalo chicken pizza? Meh. I mean, it wasn't bad. But I think expectations were high given that they claim that this is their signature pie. The crust was pretty good...nice and chewy. But the pie itself seemed kinda dry. Maybe not enough buffalo sauce? The cheese wasn't particularly gooey, and the chicken strips on the pizza were also a bit dry. Like I said, it wasn't bad, but no one thought it was really all that good either. The homemade ranch sauce that it comes was with quite tasty though. I stopped by here this past Sunday with my fiance for lunch. We had called ahead of time to place our order for one large cheese pizza and were told that our pizza would be ready in about 20-25 minutes. This Frank's happens to be in the location of an old Sweet Licks. As such it has a number of windows on the outside where ice cream used to be served and they still do serve ice cream from the windows. It also has a nice deck attached to it with a number of picnic tables on it but has no indoor seating. After a quick stop at Giant Eagle we popped over to Frank's to pick up our pizza and it was ready for us. Like all pizzas this one can be broken down into its three major components: sauce, crust and cheese. The crust of this pizza was of medium thickness and the bottom was cooked nicely so it was a bit crispy but that also had the effect to make the ends super dry. For the cheese there was a lot of it and it tasted ok but I don't think it was special in any way. Finally the sauce which was either too bland or so covered up by the cheese that I only really noticed it was there giving the pizza some moisture. Overall it wasn't a bad pie, just not a great one either. I have to admit that I have had their buffalo chicken pizza before and it was pretty good, just not on this visit. The bottom line for me is that I may head back here again in the future. It's convieniently located to me and for the right price it is A-OK. read more

A pretty typical Pizza and wing joint, though they have a special way to cook their wings which they claim lowers the fat count. I couldn't taste a difference and the wings were pretty good. Decent flavor and a pretty good crispiness. The pizza we got was just a normal pepperoni and was just okay. The crust wasn't crisp and chewy the way I like, instead it was a little too greasy but palatable. The toppings were good and sauce ratio was also good. Their namesake Buffalo Chicken Pizza is pretty good too, but not great, it's a bit too messy and the messiness leads to sogginess and too much going on flavor wise. Frank's is a decent pizza and wing joint. Grab it with some beers for a Steeler or Penguin game. You could do better though. read more

Well, I won't be going to KFC for my chicken anymore. Their broasted chicken was amazing. It was juicy and crispy all at the same time. It had that flavor of what mom used to make. I picked it up at the restaurant and it stayed hot until we got home. Not sure what's going on here but I used to think the pizza was FANTASTIC here.... Until the last month or so. I ordered a large and brought it home and could not even eat it. There was about 10lbs of cheese on it that just about had my daughter and I throw up. We are ITALIAN and know good pizza. So we called Frank's and the manager was kind enough to give us a credit. Fast forward 2weeks or so, order the same large and it was cut unproportional, some pieces were as big as half the pie and other pieces were as small and tiny as if it was for baby dolls to eat. The pizza itself was as dry as the cardboard box. I'm not sure if they have all new ppl working b/c of covid 19 but whatever it is it's awful pizza now. read more

The Franks Pizza & Chicken chain is great! We love their Buffalo Chicken Pizza and Broasted Chicken. Since they opened the Ross location we have probably been there a dozen times and have never been dissapointed with the quality of the food or service. We even had catering from them for my husbands birthday picnic and the manager hooked us up on the price since we were ordering a large order. They carry Pepsi products so you can get Mountain Dew there. All in all this is a pretty good place to get dinner. I have always picked up since we live pretty close so can't comment on delivery. Only downside of this location is you can only eat there in good weather since seating is outside. read more

I ordered a Buffalo Chicken Salad from the Rochester Rd location for pick-up, when i returned to my office I found that it was a regular chicken salad so I called to see if I had received the wrong order at which time the employee insisted that I had not ordered a buffalo salad. I along with my coworkers can all verify that is what I ordered. VERY POOR customer service. Upon closer inspection of the salad I noticed that all my pieces of chicken were very small and cooked so much that they were hard as rocks. I couldnt deal with the high school drama there. And the sad part is that everybody that works there is already out of high school. The manager, who im not going to say HER name is a two faced, conniving woman. I wanted to say another word but i thought i would just keep this professional. The amount of talking behind your back that you have to deal with from her is not worth the lack luster pay that you get. You know its bad when her own sister, who also works there, doesnt like her.
