Had the best food and service at Franks! Within a few minutes of sitting down we had 3 different people ask to get us coffee or drinks which really impressed me with how busy it was with everyone buzzing around. Everyone took it upon themselves to offer drinks regardless of whose table it was. We sat at the bar and watched the team pump out plate after plate helping one another while being friendly and offering great service to all. The food was fantastic! Blueberry muffin French Toast and eggs Benedict. Super yummy!!! I love they offer free onions & gravy topping! One customer seated next to us preferred to forgo the side of toast and an extra egg was offered as a substitute. The customer to the other side was offered her soda to go. It's all the small things like this that make a huge difference and show how the business is ran with integrity over profit! OMG! Talk about having too much food! The plates are overloaded with food! I was impressed with the quality and quantity. The place is inside a railway car, which was really neat. It is a bit tight in there, but the food makes up for all of that. We had a party of 4 and waited for an hour for a seat. Once we did order the food, it was out in about 10 minutes or so. The server was very nice and took the time to explain the menu items and was accommodating to our customization requests (things on the side etc.). We've been to both locations of this classic train car diner, downtown Spokane and North Spokane on HWY 2. Always for breakfast, but the menu is large and the food is excellent. Good sized portions and super service. Great history for these beautifully restored pieces of American history. The downtown location is definitely smaller, but both open early at 6:00am. This place is a GEM! Their foods are delicious, especially the hash brown and the chocolate waffle. The potato shreds inside the hash brown still have a texture yet it is soft, the outside is golden crunchy; I don't generally like hash browns but this changed my mind! The chocolate waffle, even though was doused in caramel and chocolate syrup, was not overly sweet. The outside is crisp and the inside was fluffy, airy, and soft (I'm drooling as I'm writing this ... why didn't I get one to-go?!) I was visiting Spokane and this joint repping Spokane so well. Yesterday my husband and I tried breakfast again at Franks Diner after the 1st time we were served cold hash browns and eggs. Yesterday was no different, no matter how much we wanted it to be. My hash browns were cold at the edges, my over medium eggs were over easy and the whites were again cold like it had been sitting for an extended amount of time off the grill. Even our 2 slices of bacon were cold to the touch. The only thing that was steaming on either plate was the brown gravy on my husband's hash browns. The only redeeming quality of the breakfast was the coffee. I know it's a busy place and our server was prompt and we didn't wait long to be seated, but c'mon. This is not anywhere near what you should be serving your customers. read more

Frank's Diner has been my go to place for breakfast which I will eat no matter the time of day. My absolute favorite menu item is their eggs benedict which is typically amazing, unless you order using their takeout service. Today I used takeout and received a plate of eggs benedict which consisted of essentially hard boiled eggs, soggy english muffins, overcooked canadian bacon and barely enough hollandaise sauce to cover any of these mistakes. I also got a side of shredded plain potatoes. Not only that, I was told it would take 10ish minutes but ended up waiting 30 minutes for it. I took a few bites but I guess even though I was hungry, I wasn't hungry enough for this garbage of a meal. $15 down the drain. My wife and I stopped into Frank's for breakfast before heading back home to the Seattle area. Free parking can be found in the parking lot. Discover is an accepted form of payment. Frank's is an old Great Northern rail car that has been converted into a diner. I loved the lighting, coloring and history that the rail car offered. Tables are stationary, meaning Frank's is not ideal for large groups. Tables seat four (4) comfortably. There is one small area (seats about 6 people) in the back that offers handicap seating. Frank's short-order kitchen was clean and well organised. Beer and wine are available; however, my wife and I opted for a cup of coffee (bottomless) for $2.75 each. If desired, flavored creamers and half & half are located on each table. My wife and I shared The Works Omelet for $13:25: sausage, ham, bacon, tomatoes, green peppers, mushrooms, cheddar cheese and Swiss Cheese. Served with a side of sour cream and salsa. We chose hash-browns and a buttermilk biscuits as our sides. Our plates were split in the kitchen. My wife chose to have gravy (free of charge) on her hash-browns. We each enjoyed our breakfast choice and absolutely loved our buttermilk biscuit. Our server was friendly and efficient. I was tickled when I requested Tabasco and our server presented me with four Tabasco choices. I love options. Overall, Frank's serves tasty hearty breakfast meals at reasonable prices. Absolutely loved it here! One of the cutest diners I have been to in so long. The outside is so cute (see photos) and the inside was even better. The staff was beyond friendly, multiple people checking on us besides our server and then grabbing the door for us when we left. Everyone was so attentive, you could tell it was a very friendly team environment here. I loved that the kitchen was wide open so you could see the cooks doing everything right in front of you, especially if you sat up at the bar area and it then became more personal of an experience. Having an open kitchen like that filled the restaurant with all the delicious smells too. My wedge salad was humongous, I had to get extra dressing because there was way too much salad for me to not have more. It came with all the basic ingredients that made it delicious and perfect, I had people stopping at the table acknowledging how good it looked. I had the meat lovers omelet with hash browns, a biscuit and milk. The milk was great and the omelet was ok. The hash browns and biscuit were fried in something very unpleasant tasting (fake butter was my first thought, idk what it was, but it was an unpleasant taste). The portions are a nice size to fill you up, but are overpriced for what you get. We had a long wait but the staff is friendly. It's very loud inside unless you get the back booth near the restrooms, it's quite back there. My parents took us to breakfast, I wouldn't choose to go back on my own.
