Some places don't ask for your attention. They just quietly earn it…read more Flora offers an extraordinary encounter with Southern Italian gastronomic cultures. The pasta dishes, octopus, stews, carrots with yellowfin tuna. Every plate reveals a distinct constellation of ingredients, techniques, climates, and histories. The menu unfolds as a succession of gastronomic worlds, each carrying its own material intelligence and cultural memory. The space is equally compelling. It combines the abstract continuity and refined materiality of Mies's architecture with furniture that feels patiently assembled from remarkable vintage discoveries. Rather than restoring the building to a single moment, the design allows different layers of time to remain visible and in dialogue. The outdoor spaces are beautifully composed and lovingly gardened, extending the same care and intelligence that define the interiors. The service is warm, attentive, and impeccably professional. Nothing here is performative. The precision of the cooking, the calm confidence of the architecture, and the generosity of the hospitality all belong to the same sensibility. A remarkably well-kept secret in Park Slope.

The owner agreed and explain that the extra salt originated from the clams themselves, and graciously offered us another dish, pasta with tuna, that was again delicious. By the end of the meal, we were extremely satisfied--not only with the food, wine and gentle jazz, but also with the warm, attentive service. Highly recommend Flora for quality Italian food, vine, and ambiance.

Being forced to use…read moreyour phone in any service setting disrupts the ambiance and the ability to be in the moment. It's one thing to replace a menu with phone cameras. But when a restaurant uses a QR pamphlet as a visual cue for table service, the dynamic between staff and patron is stripped of hospitality and becomes solely transactional. Abilene attempted to reinvent the wheel in food service, which left us feeling like an unwelcome inconvenience. Our food arrived, and the taste didn't live up to the presentation. The grilled chicken sandwich was as devoid of taste as the staff was of personality. Bland and uninspired.

So that was nice. As well, the (I'm assuming) owner was coming around checking on people to make sure that they were happy. I appreciate that. The place is charming. Small and warm without being cramped. The most wonderful thing was that, though there was music playing, we could actually here each other as we spoke in normal voices!! I really hate restaurants that play music too loud - which seems to be the thing now. If I wanted thumpa, thumba, oonce, oonce, I'd go to a club. The food was really great. One of our party had the veggie lasagna, which she was really happy with. Two of us had the bouillabaisse and they loved it. I had the boeuf bourguinon and it was so yummy and rich! It was so rich I couldn't finish it... though that might have been because of the parsley garlic fries and beet salad that we split before our main meals. I will not say it's cheap... it's not. $16 for a glass of wine, but I will go again.

This is strictly a wine bar, as I did not see any alcohol served. The food itself was not bad. I wouldn't say it was absolutely amazing, but I feel that the vibe and the wine selection really make this place what it is. The French onion soup was not terrible, but it could definitely be better. I feel that they use mozzarella cheese for the soup. This is supposedly a French inspired restaurant, so I will let them slide, but the crabcakes were OK. I don't really care for all the spice. It was served with a mango chutney, a pesto sauce, and some sort of chipotle mayo. I mean, these are just flavors completely out of left field. The crab cake itself was very spicy, and it was really a minced crab rather than chunks of crab. Again, this place is not supposedly known for crabcakes, so I can't really base it on that. The duck confit salad was OK as well. Nothing crazy, just all right. Didn't hate it, but I wasn't in love with it either. The burger I got was served rare, just how I liked it, and to be honest, it felt a bit bland. I wish there were salted pepper on the table so I can season the burger as I like it. The french fries were OK. They seem pretty good, a little soggy, but still good nonetheless. The beef Bourgainon was pretty good. the sauce itself was very good and you could tell a lot of care was put into the sauce. I'm not really much of a stew person, but this was good. The start of the show is the owner. He was vibrant, energetic, very considerate of his patrons, and totally welcoming and hospitable. Show I would definitely come back just for the ambience and the owner. This place is good, but it can be great couple of tweaks like a happy hour menu or a buy one get one half off or something, just to promote it. If you ran a special starting from 7 PM till about 9 PM, like a after work happy hour, I think you would really kill it on weekdays

The sliders appetizer was good, it had a beef, jerk chicken, friend chicken and salmon. The jerk chicken and salmon were really good, they were flavorful. The beef one was also juicy and great. The fries were also good. The drinks were really good and innovative, had good flavor. The drinks had the right balance of liquor and juice. The only downside is they didn't have frozen drinks which I love but it is fine they had a nice list of mocktails. If I lived in Brooklyn I would definitely be a regular here.
